Then you look forward for dogs on the path and give the leashed dog the right of way if you see one ahead.

Obviously. Unless you're turning a corner or some shrubs are obstructing your view.

If you’re worried about being jumped on by a leashed dog, don’t put yourself in the situation where you might be jumped on.

Easier said than done. The dog that attacked me was on a very long leash.

It’s really not rocket science no mater how many “what about’s” you come up with.

It's easy to be dismissive, if you've not been attacked by a leashed dog.

Are you currently booked at one of the dog friendly resorts?

Dogs skulking in shrubbery. Coming around a corner into the sudden path of a dog. Gah! I am not dismissive of your genuine fear. I am dismissive of the foolish scenarios you are coming up with to make your point.

Dogs skulking in shrubbery? Give me a break. Way to twist things. That is not what I said.
Have you really never turned a corner and encountered a person walking their dog? Amazing!

Personally I doubt this. I think ppl will complain now & in a few weeks move on to the next big outrage on social media.
I think it will be just the opposite.

When Guests actually start encountering dogs at their resort,I think complaints will only increase.

And judging from conversations I had with Resort Custodial Cast Members who worked during Irma,Cast Members are about as "excited" to see dogs in the Resorts as the Guests are.

Simply encountering a dog at the resort isn't a reason for complaint though. They have just as much right to be there as anybody else.

POR - shares facilities with FQ so I'm counting them as one.

Then you are wrong. They may be sister resorts, but they are not the same resort. They used to have one General Manager, now they have one each and completely separate management teams. Dog policies that apply to POR do not apply to POFQ.

Can you ask your source to speak with Exec team etc. to start getting this communicated to CMs? Everyone is being told differently.

I already did. The situation today is far different than what was envisaged when they announced this program last week, and sadly the level of CM consistency (especially at the call centers) of even long-standing policies is patchy at best. Also, people here are quoting conversations that may have taken place several days ago and may no longer be valid anyway. Equally, things may have changed time and time again by the time you actually get there.

Even that's not fully accurate. Andre said they would try to limit it but if someone came and had booked another room category, they would honor that. So effective policy is a dog can be anywhere.

No, it is NOT "the policy" that a dog can be anywhere. The new policy seems to be that bookings for guests who ask to bring dogs with them are being limited to Standard and Garden View rooms so they can assign those guests to building 24. However that policy was not in place until a few days ago, so people who booked room categories before then, or via online/TA/Expedia/etc which take a while to get updated, or who have not since called the dog-friendly assistance line as requested, could potentially turn up with a dog and thus need accommodating within the buildings that were originally intended to be used (as per the map released last week). My guess is that POR will keep aside a few extra specific rooms in the original 15, 80 and 95 to support any such guests if necessary. However that is not an intended course of action, and may indeed never happen, but it would be negligent for anyone to completely rule the possibility out.

MagicBands are all clones of each other. All a MB does is relay the information in the MDE account.

Not quite. Each magic band has a unique code number which it transmits to the door lock, turnstile, etc. Those unique numbers are symbolically linked to your My Disney Experience account, which is s how you can link and unlink specific bands from your account (which would not be possible if each band was an exact clone). Whenever any band that has been linked to your master account is detected, the system knows it is you. Off-topic here, but when you check in at the resort, the codes of every valid/linked band that you own are transmitted to the internal storage memory in your room's door-lock, so it can let you into the room without having to connect to the central system every time you tap to enter. This actually started to become an issue when people were amassing tons of bands on one account as the doorlocks only have a finite amount of local storage space and could start to run out of capacity to retain enough band codes at one time.

I just read your post after musing about how many dogs I have seen in Chicago today. I think that once something is on our ‘radar’ we can’t stop seeing it! I remember when I was pregnant, I saw pregnant ladies everywhere! When my DD has her ACL repaired, I suddenly saw scarred knees everywhere!
The ironic thing about this? When we're trained to see something like this or an issue when we otherwise might not, the media is fond of calling it a "dog whistle". It actually works here!! (and I think it happens to all of us)

That is the same argument smokers use when smoking outside the Dsa’s.
True true but I *think* what they were meaning is just simply encountering a dog wouldn't be reason to complain. The dog and/or owner would need to be doing something that goes against the policy. If you are smoking outside of a DSA then you are going against the policy and if someone simply encounters you then that is reason to complain.

I must say, that is disappointing. Sounds like rules and policies are being written and rewritten daily. I feel bad for guests of those 4 resorts, both those not bringing dogs and those that are, as they are trying to prepare and plan for a trip using rules that are constantly changing. When can we expect to have fairly concrete rules regarding the new policy?

It's worthy of a complaint if they booked a historically dog free resort and show up to find dogs there without any notice.
Valid point but does Disney give notice about tour groups at all for example?

I had zero idea about them (as in it never even entered my mind) until joining the DIS and there are still a decent amount of posts about people not knowing much about them either. I don't think someone who has either never had experience with tour groups ( :wave2: prior to this most recent trip that is) or has never stayed on site would know either ( :wave2: prior to this most recent trip that is).

No, but being a hotel it's expected that people will be there. Tour groups go along with any tourist attraction. I'm not sure why Disney would have to alert anyone to them being there.

It is a dog friendly resort. If they are in the designated areas where dogs are allowed and are following the rules then there is no reason to complain. I mean...of course you can complain about anything you want but I can't imagine the cast members saying much other than "I'm sorry but this is a dog friendly resort."

But service animals are allowed anywhere and everywhere their owners are. I went in September and saw at least 10 over the course of a week (which is odd because I normally only see a couple). No Disney resort is "dog free" and everybody should expect to see some. Disney doesn't owe it to anybody to notify guests that service animals will be staying at their resort.
