The water may be fake, but the wine is real! Mother Daughter 2017 F&W Trip!!! (Updated 5/27!)

Looks like you all had a great day at Animal Kingdom (rude photopass photographer aside). Glad to hear that Tiffins redeemed itself for you all. We've eaten there twice and have loved it each time, so happy to see you are firmly back in the love camp!

Your tequila event looks great!!!!! No matter how long, the good food and tequila definitely seems worth it!

Day 4, Part 3: Back to the Food Booths!

After leaving the Tequila lunch, we were still a bit hungry, although we were expecting this since the same thing happened the year before! We had a FP+ scheduled for 1:30, but it was still too early since the Tequila Lunch got out so early, so we decided to head towards Future World and stop by food booths on the way!

Our first stop was at Thailand where I got the Red Hot Spicy Thai Curry Beef and the Singha Lager. We then found a table in the shade, and then I headed off to pick up the Roasted Beet Salad from Farm Fresh. Turns out my mom decided to get a picture of me waiting in line! HA!

I picked up the salad, which I was shocked to see them make fresh, then made my way back to the table to enjoy the food!

This little guy came over to visit for a bit.

The beef was good, but definitely didn’t compare to the beef at Canada or France!

My mom LOVED the salad. Beets are one of her favorite foods, so she was happy to get this again this year, and bonus, this year the serving size was a lot larger!

By the time we finished enjoying our food, it was time for our FP+! We made our way over to FW and back to see the characters (yes, again)! Of course we stopped at the photopass photographers on the way!

Goofy noticed my mom was wearing last years food and wine shirt, so we had a whole interaction on how we're getting fat with all the food!

It was so much fun, probably helped we had a few shots of tequila in us from the lunch! Ha!

Next up we decided to explore the area and went to visit the light lab. It was a cool room, although similar to Pandora just brought me back to my childhood in the 80s!

There was nothing on the menu there that really interested us, so we headed back out and over to the Chocolate Studio. Now I’m not really big on sweets, but my mom was craving something sweet at that point, so she decided to get the Liquid Nitro Chocolate Almond Truffle, and I grabbed the RL Buller Fine Muscat. Turns out I made a fantastic choice!

We of course shared our goodies, and oh my goodness, the pairing of the muscat and the liquid nitro was AMAZING. I highly recommend it! Each on their own was just good, but together they were fantastic!

It was getting close to our next FP+ time by then, so we wrapped up with our snack and headed over to TT!

Next Up: We do something we haven’t done since the 90s!!!

We are so happy that Tiffins was SO much better this time around. We love the food there, so were very disappointed after our visit in May, but now it's back as one of our top places to dine!

Your tequila event looks great!!!!! No matter how long, the good food and tequila definitely seems worth it!

Yeah, it's a really fun event, the food and tequila are great! The only thing that we were a bit bummed about was missing the "learn how to make a margarita like we do" part. We had been attempting to recreate them at home and they never tasted right, so we planned on taking notes this trip to get the recipe right, and of course they cut that part out. Ha! Oh well, it was still a lot of fun and definitely worth the price!

So question...how easy is it to add days and tickets once you have a package booked? We may add a day or two to our trip once my mom knows her work schedule, but we've never done that before so have no idea what to expect!

Love your trip reports. They're so much fun.

My mom and I just did a food and wine trip with a very similar touring plan. I can't speak to adding days to the resort stay, but we did turn our 4 day hopper into a 5 day while we at the resort. We just went to the concierge desk and Mike at the YC added it on in less than 5 minutes. Charged the card on file. It was super easy. I imagine the only problem you might have is availability at the resort you want, but Disney will work with you to get you a room. They're not going to turn down the extra $$$.

Ah, great to know! :thanks:

Day 4, Part 4: We do something we haven’t done since the 90s!

After finishing up at the food booths we made our way over to TT! As always, we stopped at the photopass photographers!

We arrived a few minutes early, so found a seat in the shade to wait the few minutes until it was our time. The wait went by fast and soon we were designing our car!

Yeah, once again, we failed at car design! Second time our side mirrors ended up on top of the car! Oops!

We ended up being in a car with a family, and a bit embarrassed to say the car the kids had designed totally beat ours. #notacardesigner

It was a fun ride, we almost made it to 65mph….just shy at 64.9!

After TT, we decided to pop back over to the festival center since my mom decided there was a festival shirt she wanted to pick up. So we wandered over there, obviously taking pictures on the way!

Once we purchased her shirt and had it sent back to the hotel (mini aside, I really miss when they used to deliver directly to the room…and usually the same day!), we made our way over to do something we have not done since the 1990s! We were off to Canada to watch Oh! Canada!

Yup, we stopped at photopass photographers on the way over

We finally did make it to Canada after all our pictures. Now I know it’s a new movie now (well, since the last time we saw it), but we have not done any of the films in Epcot since I was in high school! It was fun to go back in that area, but we were shocked how many people were waiting for the show! We figured hardly anyone went to those anymore. Not that the theater was packed, but definitely a lot more than we’d expect!

My mom was SO happy she got to see the new movie. She had been talking about making time to see it for the last two trips, so it was nice to finally find time in our schedule for it!

After the show, we were a bit hungry, so decided to swing by Scotland to try the lamb stew and the Scottish Ale. I thought the stew was ok, but not one of my top choices at F&W.

By the time we finished with the stew, we were getting tired and cranky, so figured it would be good to head back to the YC to rest a bit before our night out!

Next up: Our Favorite Night Activity!

Day 4, Part 5: Our Favorite Night Activity!

We had a nice long break at the hotel that afternoon. My mom took a nap, and I spent some time updating my trip notes and going through the photopass pictures.

Finally we started getting ready for our nighttime activity. We headed out of the room a few minutes before 7 and made our way over to the Boardwalk to Jellyrolls!

We are obsessed with this place, we make sure to go at least once a trip!

Per usual, when we arrive around 7:05 they still weren’t open. This time they took longer than usual to open and didn’t start letting us in until 7:21! Ok, so only 6 minutes later than we’re used to…so not actually a big deal.

We paid, got stamped, then made a b-line to a table front and center! It’s so much easier to run up requests when you only have to go a few feet!

The waitress soon came around with our drinks, I was bummed they were out of Magic Hat, so settled on a Sam Adams instead. When she asked if we wanted popcorn we, a bit too excitedly, yelped YES! Haha, their popcorn is really good…it’s impossible to stop eating it!

We were pleased to see it was our favorite guys playing that night, Scotty, Michael, Ray and Jordon!

While waiting for them to start playing, I ran a bunch of my and my mom’s requests up to the pianos.

Eventually they came out to start playing. First up was Scotty and Michael! Yay! They started going through the requests that had already piled up and came across one of my moms, which stopped them dead in their tracks. Scotty holds up the napkin and asks the audience “Who requested Lindsey Buckingham?”

Now I had no idea who that was, so figured it was someone else, but the grumpy women (seriously very grumpy, the guys kept calling her out for looking so miserable!) at the table next to us pointed to me and yelled “she did!”

Huh?
giphy.gif

Well, turns out it was one of my mom’s requests that I had run up earlier! HA! Well, this started a whole exchange with us and the guys. They asked my mom’s name, so she told them, and they immediately started playing a song to her! She was thrilled!

This turned into a full night of being part of the show. Eventually Michael asked my mom who I was, so she told them, and they started singing me a song!

Throughout the night they would randomly ask us questions, like if we liked the song they just played, and joked around with us until close. It was SO much fun. Not going to lie, we love being the center of attention!

giphy.gif

We ended up staying to close again, it’s just so much fun! We were so impressed that this time, after the show ended, Michael actually came up to chat with us and thank us for coming! So nice!

It was about 2:10 by the time we left, and we had a rather early morning planned the next day, so quickly made our way back to the YC to try to get as much sleep as we could!

Next up: Another Morning at the MK!

I love Magic Hat as well!

Sounds like you guys had a great night! Just a little Disney Dueling Piano Magic!

It's so good, and I can never find it in stores at home so I always try to get it while at Disney. Too bad they didn't have it this time. Oh well, next time!

It was such a fun night at Jellyrolls, we love that place!

I love love love anejo tequila
Me too

anejo tequila at home, and they NEVER have it
We go to the liquor store and buy Sammy Hagars Cabo Wabo tequila. It comes in Blanco Reposado an Anejo. Can't lie sometimes Anejo is too expensive for us.

It was still a really fun event, just wasn’t as awesome as it was last year.
Sounds like fun.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Day 5, Part 1: Quick, to the People Mover!

We woke up at 7:20, after a very short night of sleep! We downed a lot of coffee and got ready in record time. Somehow we made it down to the bus stop by 7:40! A bus to the MK was pulling up right when we got there, so we hopped on and were soon on our way to MK!

We arrived at MK right at 8:00, we couldn’t believe we actually made it there in time for the EMH after such a late night!

After getting through security and scanning our magic bands, we of course popped over to get a photopass picture!

We headed over to Tomorrowland after getting our pictures. Our plan was to ride Space, so then we could leave a bit earlier than planned and get rid of our late morning Space FP+. Sadly when we arrived, Space was down. Instead we went over to ride Buzz! There was no line and we walked right on. I of course won again!

Haha, we look so tired!

We went back to Space after Buzz to see if it was open yet, but it wasn’t. I was slightly bummed, but then I had a brilliant idea! I turn to my mom and excitedly tell her “we need to get on the people mover now!”

She was so confused, but obliged. There was no one at the people mover, so once again we walked right on. We ended up in the first car!

Well, the reason I wanted to hop on the people mover is I’ve been dying to see Space with the lights on! I figured if it was down, it was likely the lights would be on.

Sure enough, we entered the building to see Space mountain in light!

I don’t know why I find this so cool, but I really do!

After knocking “See Space with the Lights on” off my bucket list, we made our way back over to Buzz. Once again, there was no line and we walked right on. This time was a fight for first place! At one point my mom was up over 70,000 points! But then I hit a high point target and jumped waaay ahead of her. I figured I would easily win again, but then suddenly I look over and she had maxed out the score! WHAT!?!?! No idea how she did that, but she finally won and was so happy! She decided that would be her last time playing Buzz this trip. Haha, won’t even let me try to win again!

Next up: Can’t They Open it Just for Us?

I'm sorry the Tequila lunch wasn't as good as last year but glad it was still a good time!

More great Photopass photos! Sounds like you guys sampled some more great food items!

Your night at Jellyrolls sounds awesome!!

Bummer that Space was down but you got to see it with the lights on which is pretty neat!

Isn't it great? I never thought I could like tequila until I tried the good stuff! :rotfl2:

We go to the liquor store and buy Sammy Hagars Cabo Wabo tequila. It comes in Blanco Reposado an Anejo. Can't lie sometimes Anejo is too expensive for us.

Haha, I'm not surprised. My liquor store only has reposado, and even that is crazy expensive!

Sounds like fun.
It was a lot of fun, it's a great event!

Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks! We love Jellyrolls, always a good time!

Yeah, still a lot of fun, we just really wanted to get the margarita lesson again so we could make them at home!

More great Photopass photos! Sounds like you guys sampled some more great food items!

Thanks! We had sooo much good food this year! We upped our game this time around and hit up the food booths as often as we could!

Your night at Jellyrolls sounds awesome!!

It was so awesome! It's always a fun time, but joking around with the guys during the show made it extra special!

Bummer that Space was down but you got to see it with the lights on which is pretty neat!

Yeah, threw a bit of a wrench in our plans, but it was so cool to see it with the lights on! Now I just need to ride it with the lights on!

Day 5, Part 2: Can’t They Open it Just for Us?

After beating me solidly on Buzz, my mom and I decided to wander through the park a bit since it still was the EMH. We made our way back through Fantasyland, taking pictures along the way.

We finally ended up at HM a few minutes after the park had officially opened, and decided since it was still a bit before our first FP+, to ride that. There was a bit of wait, about 20 minutes at that point, but it went fast.

Soon we were in the stretching room!

We ended up with the same hitchhiking ghost as our last ride earlier in the week, and were surprised when he disappeared after the first screen! Guess he really didn’t want to come home with us! HA!

After HM it was time for our first FP+ of the day, BTMR! We arrived just after a group of about 6. They were arguing with the CM working the FP+ line about how since they just came from Pirates, which was down, the CM there told them they could get into any FP line on property. The CM caught them in their lie though and specifically asked if they had FP+ for Pirates. Well, they didn’t. The man in the group became livid and starts yelling at the poor CM. While this is going on a long line has formed behind them of people who actually had FP+. The CM kept telling that party to move aside so the rest of us could get by, but they refused to budge. Finally the CM just gave up and let them through. UGH.

We followed them up the ramp and they were so giddy they beat the system. Jerks. We got to the next FP+ scan point, and they scanned, and of course it didn’t work, but the CM there just turned and looked the other way to let them by. Not cool CM. Not cool.

giphy.gif

Fortunately, since that group had taken up so much time, by the time we got in, there was no line for FP.

Since there was already a fairly substantial standby line, I knew we would only be riding this one time, so did something I never do. I asked the CM loading the train if we could wait to be in the very last row!

You would have thought we asked her for her first born. My goodness, the look she gave us! But finally, rather begrudgingly, told us to go all the way down to the end. YES! First time asking a CM for a particular seat, and probably my last time after that reaction!

The ride was fun, and I was glad I asked for that row. We kept being in the middle of the train earlier in the week, and it’s way more fun in the very back!

Once off, we stopped to take some pictures in front of the ride.

We then made our way to mourn Splash being closed.

So, this picture makes me laugh. I told my mom I wanted a picture of me looking sad in front of Splash, with the sign saying it’s closed and the ride in the picture. She managed to get one picture of me and the ride and no sign, and another with the sign and no ride. Oh mom, thanks for trying, but you failed!

The entire trip my mom kept hopefully saying, maybe, just maybe, they’ll have Splash open! So that became a running joke that maybe they’d open it just for us! Sadly, they did not.

We had a bit of time before our next FP+, so we decided to do a bit of shopping.

Eventually we made our way to Fantasyland for our next FP+, 7DMT! We arrived about 5 minutes before it kicked in, so went to sit in the shade to wait for it to open. We were chatting while sitting there, when I look over at the ride entrance and omg, it looked like everyone with a FP+ in the park had just arrived!

It was still a few minutes til our time, but with the FP+ line now stretching out and around the ride, we figured by the time we made it to scan our magic bands it would be well within our FP+ window. It did take a while to get to the point where we scanned our bands, and we were easily within our window by the time we got there. Fortunately, once scanned the wait wasn’t bad, maybe about 10 minutes.

We were once again put in the last car, which we loved!

So much fun!

Next up: It’s an Ice Cream Kind of Morning

People can be such jerks! It's annoying when they end up getting away with it too, which means they'll probably do it again in the future!

I'm sorry the CM was so rude about you requesting the last row. I feel like people request certain rows all the time!

Oh my gosh I know! It's so annoying! I do feel bad for the CMs that have to deal with these people, but I wish they would enforce the rules a bit more!

I'm sorry the CM was so rude about you requesting the last row. I feel like people request certain rows all the time!

Yeah, we have seen time and time again people request certain seats, so not sure what that attitude was. Maybe she was just having a bad day? :confused3

I don’t know why I find this so cool, but I really do!
Mission Accomplished!

The CM kept telling that party to move aside so the rest of us could get by, but they refused to budge. Finally the CM just gave up and let them through. UGH.
Ugh! I hate when this happens. I know the CM did it so as to not hold up everyone. but it rewards bad behavior. I also hate when teh people doing it have kids. It's just showing them bad behavior too!

My goodness! Sounds like the CM were all in a bad mood that day!
