Afternoon Tea at Garden View Tea Room - has anyone....

...done this event recently? How much per person and how long does it usually last? We will be going to the MNNSHP later that afternoon, and the only availability is at 2:55 in the afternoon. Will that be enough time if we plan on meeting our 'significant other' at MK at 4PM? TIA
One thing that will save you time is that they now serve everything at once instead of bringing it out in different courses.

I would be surprised if you could finish up in 45 minutes. It’s taken us up to two hours there, with 1.5

1) YES.
2) Afternoon Tea was always meant to be a SLOW and ELEGANT affair.
3) It's NEVER supposed to be "fast food" or quick.
4) The GF Tea is in this realm.

The tea is a favorite for my daughter and me and something we do every trip. We plan 2 hours. The Bedforshire was $35 last week, which comes with tea, scones, dessert, and sandwich plate.
Here's a sandwich plate from 10/5.

....I was hoping for that....yes, it's nice to have every 'course' spread out, but there is a time-constraint, and, truth be told, I did this for my DS's GF because it was one thing she really did want to do on our trip...

I go solo every year, I wouldn't miss it! Enjoy!

....I know that I will definitely enjoy it....I have a feeling that I'm going to wish that it WAS a more 'proper' tea [with separate 'courses' being served, one at a time]....my sister has 3 daughters and each of them (at one time or another) have had a birthday tea at a local place in Hawthorne. Being the mother of 3 boys, it was always a total departure for me doing so-called 'girlie-girl' things, as opposed to birthdays with video arcades, paintballing, and the like.....:teeth:

Anyone know what China they use? Is it Royal Albert? I was just there are should have looked!

....the afternoon tea was quite lovely....however, we had to wait in excess of almost 30 minutes, due to overbooking.

I go every trip and I go to WDW at least twice a year. We love it and use it for our lupper (lunch/supper) since it's a ton of food. This is from Sept.

I got the more expensive package that includes fruit and cheese and a glass of champagne. I was there solo and it took me about a hour but the service is not always fast there.

...that's what WE had! My fave was the one in the middle!

Our Ratings of Afternoon Tea at Grand Floridian: (*rev 01/16/2016*)

.
NOTE2: This is not up to the par of either High Tea or the Afternoon Tea, but it is a good way to spend an afternoon. As an FYI, High Tea and Afternoon Tea are different. "High Tea" is a later-afternoon event with more food, including meats. Also note that the "clotted cream" isn't, and they charge for additional pots of tea. Yeah, I know, it it pretty cheap and cheesy. I actually prefer the Tea at Waldorf Astoria on property and it's less expensive than the WDW Tea, even for the better selections. We enjoyed "Tea" at The Savoy and The Claridge's. The GF Tea does not rise to the quality of either. Take a cab to The Waldorf on property; better pricing, better teas, better service.

I moseyed on over to the Waldorf Astoria site to check it out since you mentioned it being a better value, and it appears the royal tea there includes tea sandwiches and some desserts and is 50 dollars—is there another tea served there that isn’t advertised on their website? We’ve done the GF tea the last few years but would certainly be open to another one if we could find better value.

My DH and I did a tea at the Ritz Carlton a year or two ago. I don't remember what it cost - but it was very nice.

Anyone know what China they use? Is it Royal Albert? I was just there are should have looked!

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, they used to serve the tea using Royal Doulton's Old Country Roses china, but I recently read on Tripadvisor of folks being served on stoneware (I saw the pics of it, as well). It is still painted with the Old Country Roses look but clearly with the look of stoneware. It's not nearly as elegant!
