I love credit cards so much!

I still say wait until Monday regular business hours. I believe the verification dept. is separate from reconsideration and may not be open on the weekends.

As for your double dipping strategy. Obviously make sure your United card application dropped off past 30 days. Apply for the card you really want first, get it approved. If not automatically approved, call reconsideration to get it approved. It could be a matter of verifying personal information, or reallocating credit. Then apply for the second one with another browser or incognito and get it approved all on the same day. It must be on the same day.

Please consider applying using fellow DISchurners’ referral links.

Thanks! How do I pick the referral link? So many good people have helped me on here. Please help me decide! I can do a referral for Marriott as well as Freedom.

Thanks!

Ha! I have neither card, so I’m just going to say it’s up to you. Maybe pick one for the Marriott and someone else for the Freedom Unlimited. Whoever gets the bonus will be pleasantly surprised. Whoever doesn’t, I’m sure there will be no hard feelings.

So we got a call from Hawaiian Airlines tonight regarding our upcoming flight to Hawaii for Christmas. They overbooked and offered us $400 travel credit per passenger to change our flight. We moved up our departure (more time in Hawaii) and pocketed $1200! w00t!
That's AMAZING! Congratulations!!!

I’m sure that is hard to decide! There are amazingly great and helpful people on this thread and on the DIS churners group. I had a gal use my referral last week and she messaged me and told me. It was really sweet that she did use my referral and I was thrilled that she told me so definitely tell whoever’s link you do use!

I'm so glad that the group has provided this opportunity for people!! I went through some initial effort to set things up and @Albort has been awesome helping me keep up with people's requests to join and I'm just so happy that it's paying off for fellow DISers. I was worried at first if people would really take that extra step when applying to go over there and find a link but based on a number of reports I've heard, it's happening!

ALSO Thanks for reminding people to send a PM if they use a link, it's an awesome gesture AND it allows that person to thank you!

I'm thinking I might have messed it up because I did an order that was split between Target and Wal-Mart, with the combined total being slightly more than $60. On the AmEx website it shows both charges as "doing business as Google Express" but maybe the system sees them as two separate entities. I've never had an AmEx offer that didn't apply automatically but 8 days seems like a suspiciously long time.

I think it can be a combined charge of $50 or more, right?

I am so thankful you set the group up! I think we really needed something like this. So, thanks to you and @Albort

We dump funds into our 529 and let them sit for a few days before transferring to the college. That way we can get the State tax deduction. For us thats 5.75% for Virginia.

An option if you have a 529 is to buy the "Gift of College" gift cards (carried at Toys R Us currently) by credit card which can be transferred to a 529 account. The fee on those is $5.95 per $500 card I believe. Best Buy is supposed to start carrying them soon - although I'll believe it when I see it as it keeps getting delayed. Would be nice to earn BB rewards on those purchases.

Babies R Us has them too. I bought a couple of them a month ago, and the funds finally showed up today in my 529 plan. It does take a while for processing though. I was able to buy them with Visa gift cards that I bought with other credit cards that have bonus categories (AMEX BCP 6% groceries), and just paid the $5.95 fee with another card. It turned out to be a $19.40 net cash back per $500 GoC purchase. Oh, and the state tax deduction too, I'll count that as money back too on top of the credit card cash back.

I'm very thankful you guys created Dischurners and happy to see it grow. I've used links there and had 1 of mine used, which was a nice surprise. It's great to see so many of us helping each other out!

Like any true long time churner I actually have no CSR because I was over 5/24 when it was introduced, haha.

Been lurking- too busy here to add much to the conversation, but have been keeping up and will comment here. We were Private Clients when this was introduced (still are, but this goes back a ways...)- and were WAY over 5/24. We have been Chase clients for a very long time, and either have- or have had- every single card Chase has ever issued up to that point in time that generates URs, including the hack when we were able to get a product change sign up bonus when they changed some of them from MasterCard to Visa (or vice-versa, was a while ago so can't remember which). I still have the original Sapphire (not preferred or reserve- just a plain old sapphire)- and one of the original Ink cards before they became bold and plus and all of that (have or have had those, too).

Anyways, to the point of the post. When this was introduced- 5/24 was just starting to rear it's ugly head. We were able to get them the first day they came out. Kept one, got rid of the other because like at least one other poster here we have a boatload of 450+ AF cards in our portfolio and we keep one of most of them for their benefits. The only Chase card we have ever been refused is the CIP, and we have tried to get it both through regular channels and used their dedicated business bankers as well. We had the branch manager call, had our PC banker call, etc- always a hard 'no'. I still think at some point they will let PCs start getting cards again even if they are at or over 5/24- as PCs are heavily invested in JP and there is no good reason to say no- but maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part.

Just one more quick comment on 'points hoarding'. For me, there is a threshold where it becomes too much, and in my experiences (sometimes painful)- when a devaluation occurs, and they WILL occur, you wind up losing a ton of value on hard earned points. That said, we are sitting on over 2 million points/miles (1 million of those is URs)- but a huge percentage of them are already earmarked for travel in 2018. I have been doing this a very long time- and I know in my gut that we have too many points sitting idle- and may pay a heavy price for this, so we are adding trips to remedy this. This is my fault, as we travel enough that we could have a 'zero' balance in most programs if I was content to take a lower valuation on reward travel, so now it's time to 'bite the bullet' and just burn them. I get the 'rainy day' fund mentality that some have mentioned- but at some future time the points/miles won't be worth as much. IMHO Chase will eventually devalue URs just like every other issuer has devalued whatever their points are- as history (in this game) always repeats itself, which is why the recommendation is to earn and burn- always has been, always will be. IMHO those with Marriott/SPG points should try to use some/most of them up in 2018- as the new 'system'- whatever that will look like- will probably not be favorable as far as redemption. We are in the 'sweet spot' right now with the merger still in process. The grass is never greener on the other side of the hill- not in this game anyways. Yes, we will have new opportunities for card sign up bonuses- but as far as redemption goes things never stay favorable for too long. My 2 cents.

Anyone think there will be a Marriott NFL question today? I've missed the last two! I won't miss today's (if there is one)!

I love these! Last week my bonus didn't post though - had to DM Marriott Rewards and they gave them to me.

I didn't know this existed. How do I join?

Yes, according to the terms - I'm just wondering if the system is really set up to recognize multiple charges from different stores within Google Express.

Also, if this was Google Express's idea of a way to lure me into using Google Express in the future, I can say that was a bad idea - I can't imagine why I would use Google Express over ordering directly from the store in the future.

Finally got around to doing the ebags chasepay offer to get those sweet, sweet UR. Bought two sets of packing cubes on two different cards for me and DH to reach the $20 threshold. Got free shipping on each order through shoprunner. So should pick up an extra 4,000 UR, plus went through chase shopping portal which is currently 10 UR for every $1 spent on ebags. Used chase pay for my freedom and freedom unlimited.

Also got $100 Starbucks card through Wal-Mart using chase pay... should pick up 1000 UR on that transaction.

We try to every year. My wife has family in Hawaii and spending the holidays with them is important. So moving up our flight didn't pose any problems with accommodations. In fact, my MIL is thrilled we'll be there sooner. $400 can be about enough to get us from SFO<>HNL roundtrip, but definitely not during the holidays.
