Disney's BOARDWALK INN Information & Questions

Oh, one more update
Walked back from HS just now
We were going to take the boat but as we came out the line was out and on the dock and all the way along the rail. There was a boat just loading but it was too much for 1 boat. We opted to walk knowing we'd beat the next boat, probably even beat the boat just leaving. Even though it is very hot and sunny today. When we walked the other day it was much cooler. We made sure to buy a bottle of water.

It was hotter for sure but still better than standing and waiting and yes, we meet the boat that we didn't get on at the BW dock. Saw a boat pulling around to HS as we got to the roadway bridge but never saw it again

Ellen is still there. She usually works mornings / afternoons.
The other CL manager is usually there late afternoons into the night.

That’s good to know. We love Ellen. We also loved Denny, who was the other CL manager. He moved on to mange the Minnie vans. I bet the new lady replaced the man we saw on our trip this past May. IMO he needed to be replaced. He was not friendly at all and never interacted with the guests.

Those of you who regularly stay BWI club level know that is not the norm. The club level CM’s are the best and we actually feel like we are apart of their family. I guess that’s why BWI feels like home to us. Going to miss it on our upcoming trips, but we wanted to try the other resorts out.

I know we will return back for another split stay.

Does the Boardwalk lobby have a lovely smell to it like the Poly and POFQ lobbies? I see posts about candles smelling like the various lobbies, but BW is never mentioned, so now I'm wondering, is there one?

It does have a smell! I actually sat next to the smeltzer accidentally (it's near a set of the double doors that open out to the deck) and every few minutes it would go off. After a bit I got a headache and moved. But the smell was nice, it was just too much right where I was seated.

Was a crazy morning at the Inn today. I walked in to the lounge about 9:15 and they'd just opened. Turned out they had replaced the carpet overnight and didn't finish in time. Then the parade of suits (as I call Disney managers since they were dress clothes instead of costumes) started. Guess they have a very long punch list left to work on as soon as the lounge closes again. They sent anyone that wanted food before they opened to eat in one of the restaurants and they would cover the bill

And I found out why the spruce up is going on. They are painting all over the Inn. Refinishing woodwork, replacing wall papers. Really making the place shine

Well, in about 2 weeks the entire CL floor is closing for all the Disney executives. All but Iger himself I was told.

Oh my I will be there then. My friend is staying cl on the 15th. Gonna be interesting.

I hope the rest of YOUR trip goes smooth!:flower1:

If it is anything like what happened to us 4 years ago then yes it will be closed to everyone except the board members and executives. We had been booked for a year and still got moved. Not too happy as we were notified less than a week before our trip. We got moved to the Polynesian. Was nice but not what we save money for.

So funny, when we were there in 2016 the first week of December, the board of directors were meeting and staying club level there. I learned it is their favorite resort club level to stay. Bob Igor was also there and I had the privilege of meeting him and having my picture taken with him. He was the nicest man and very personable. He visited the lounge while other guests were there and said hi to everyone. I posted the picture on this thread and on the CL thread.

Cool - returning to the BWI Club Level for the first time in a while (we usually stay in the villas) looks like everything will be fresh and new for us :)

Well, that IS interesting. In two weeks, my DH and I will be halfway through our vacation where we are booked CL at BWI. :-(

With all the "shining up" happening, has there been any rumor of any upcoming room refurbs at BWI?

No the BoardWalk Inn rooms were just refreshed in 2016. They are only prepping for the Executives' visit this month.

Yep, exactly what I was told too. No refurb on the books for the Inn. I secretly wish there was though, I know I'm in the minority but we love the hard surface changes they are making in the rooms. I'll be ecstatic if the change comes to my favorite resort. DH loved it too (he finally got to see the new rooms at YC when we stayed there 1 night before our BWI stay)

We stayed during the press week for the opening of Pandora. All the executives were there including Igor. In fact his room was next to ours. He was very nice to all the guests.

KerryCM—yes we met Bob Iger as well when we went down to visit everyone after a day at EPCOT. He was nice and took a picture with us as well and it was nice getting to meet him but I was still mad at him for us getting booted lol:teeth:

What marvelous words! Isn't it nice to hear about someone "important" being friendly and personable.

And these posts confirm what I have always said, that the Boardwalk is THE place to stay at WDW!

We just got back from a Disneymoon at Yacht Club and LOVED the flooring, the rainfall shower, the STORAGE, the high bed...everything about it. I also first stayed at BWI in 2011 and 2012, when there was the yellow bed runner, red pillow, etc and thought (and still do) that those were the prettiest rooms on property. Looking at current pictures, the rooms just look underdone to me, but that said, for next summer, we're really missing BWI and may do a stay there....I was just hoping for some refurb.
Thanks though!
