I love credit cards so much!

  • And it happens that late Aug through Sept is passholder appreciation days, so we got a 10% discount on a couple meals when seasonal pass doesn't usually get food discounts (~$15 savings)

When I've gone to Universal, and it's been a while, the sit down food places, at least some of them gave a 10% discount with a AAA card. Not sure if they still do. I know we got it at 3 Broomsticks and I can't remember any other names without having to look them up!

the person who chose CIP over CIC is @Lain . He did it that way because CIP has phone insurance. the less 2x is worth it to him.

hey, do u have a citi card? the best idea would to call citi travel services and see if they could take over your booking. If they also cannot do so, its most likely Disney's side. If they could, then we can confirm its Chases doing.
i personally think the opposite when it comes to Disney.

I also find it weird that chase only switched the Freedom cards over to Expedia. I think this is a cost saving measure and leaving the original companies with the premium cards and expedia on the Freedom cards.

Unfortunately I don't have a Citi card - I'm rather new to this game! But thought I had a great deal with 1.5x URs for Disney...at least it appears I can get this deal once since it seems they are honoring existing reservations.

@amalone1013 I read your review of the Hyatt House by DL and am considering that for our stay next year. Would you recommend it? We have 2 kids who will be 4 and 6 at the time of travel. Thanks for any insight!
If you are okay with a 10ish min walk to the gates, I would definitely recommend it! I only say that because it was just me and DH, no kids (so no experience with little legs :)). Nice and clean, good breakfast setup, there is a Walgreens, Starbucks, and Blaze Pizza under the hotel. I felt like it was a great deal.

I always forget my AAA card! I need to put it in my travel wallet, since I carry the keyring tag usually. Several Swolphin places give 20% off with it.

Thank you! Were you then able to transfer points earned from your business account to your personal ones?

You can transfer from your business to personal (and vice versa) even if you have separate accounts. I have mine separate, I just had to tell the website what card to transfer to rather than it popping up automatically. It gives an option to add another card or something like that, then you enter the card number where you want to transfer to. You can also transfer to other members of your household, for now, the same way.

I've been waiting on my United Explorer card for a while now. Finally got around to calling last night - it was mailed to me 2 weeks ago. Never got it. They are now re-sending it - another 3 to 5 business days. Glad the MSR on this one isn't that high, or I'd be stressing about missing out on time to make the spend! I've got a couple bills saved up, and it looks like DD will be going on a choir trip to Universal in the spring. My first thought when I saw the cost of the trip? "Oh, well, that's almost half the spend on my new United card - great!"

Same thing happened to DH in August. I SM them finally and they sent a new one and extended the MSR date. Both the original card and new card arrived a few days later on the same day.

I noticed for the new $600 offer they changed the deadline to 20 business days... which is way nicer. If you get one goof up linking the accounts yer toast with 10 business days.

And just rechecking the $200 and $225 links they both have " deposit $15,000 or more in new money within 20 business days, and maintain a $15,000 balance for 90 days." for the terms.
So you'll get the bonus within 10 days of day 90. For ours we got it the Tue following 90 days from open date, not from funding date. So we got it about a week sooner than I planned for since I didn't know how they calculated the 90 days.
Oh, now I see what you are saying. Thanks for the clarification!

So I still do not have the $300 Chase bonus in my checking account from doing a $25 transfer from my Fidelity account... wondering if I'm going to have to set up a direct deposit from my paycheck, which will be a real hassle.

I'd give it one more day. I just did this bonus for me last month, and if I'm remembering correctly it posted late Tuesday so I didn't see it until Wednesday. I'm currently doing this bonus for P2 and used the same method for her that triggered the bonus for me, and it's not there yet. So Wednesday sounds right.

I'll try to remember to post tomorrow morning if the bonus is there for P2. If it is, and yours still isn't, you'll know something isn't right.

Thanks! Do I lose the points I have currently?

Again, this is all going to be based on how things used to be with Barclays, so you'll want to verify with the rep when you call to downgrade. But as long as you get the no-AF Arrival, your points remain on your account, and they can be redeemed as a statement credit at 1 cpp. Also, Barclays is usually generous about offering a spend bonus upon downgrade, so make sure you ask.

It's usually not a super great spend bonus or anything - maybe something like 5,000 points after $1k spend - but if you intend to churn the card, it's a great excuse to put spend on it.

I missed someone's offer on one of my ebay items while we were gone, I would have taken it. Is it wrong to contact them about it now... :rolleyes1

Oh good, maybe I'll have some luck later. I'm just worried since it's now been 9 days since I transferred the money...
I had similar timing with my Chase checking bonus, and the bonus posted on a Tuesday afternoon 9 or 10 days later. I know it was mid-afternoon because I was checking a lot that day. I also used Fidelity.

My PNC bonus, on the other hand, still hasn't arrived even though it's been over a month. I just set up a real payroll direct deposit so I can contact them if that doesn't trigger the bonus.

Incognito mode. Then go to Amex’s site to search their cards and offers. Try clearing history, different browsers, VPN if you have it, etc.

It took multiple attempts over a couple of days before I could get it to pull up. Incognito on Chrome did not work and clearing cookies on explorer did not work, neither did any attempts on my iPhone or iPad. I did not try firefox but that was going to be next. Private browsing on IE finally worked.

Thanks! I have been using cardmatch and get the exact same offers no matter what browser, but I will also look at AmEx's site.

r/churning announced their new mods today - while I was nominated, I was not selected. No big deal to me as I was really considering declining if I were offered. I’m not sure I’d want to really devote more time to churning as a whole than I already do. I’d like to keep this an enjoyable hobby LOL!

While I was out almost all day yesterday, I managed to spend $500, and would have spent more as my car is in for service. Have no idea what that will be as I just asked to 'fix it' - window motor gone and a stop/brake light that is more than just a bulb. Plus the 6 month checkup before I take it on my Florida trip. It's an older vehicle so I'm sort of obsessed with making sure it is mechanically maintained and safe. I have a newer car but I like my older, larger van for Florida and beach trips.

So I expect at least $500 for the window repair and finding fixing the stop light repair. So, I'm up to $1K on my SPG 10K for 3K spend bonus.

And, @Disneyonmymind jogged my memory by asking about Xfinity. Daughter is paying her phone off monthly. I can just pay that off! Yay! Over 1/2 way towards the 3K! Insurance in November (due in Dec) will take care of the rest. But, in the mean time I'll be trying to get it gone and then looking for something else that doesn't interfere with 5/24.

I'm starting to get excited/stressed about my upcoming apps for the SW biz and personal cards for the CP 2019/20. My currents stats not including business cards are 4/24(will be 3/24 soon, CSR falls off applied 10/16), 0/12, 0/6/, 0/3. I did lower my credit limits at Chase...had 35K on my old Disney Visa that I never use.
I'd like to get the ball rolling as soon as possible. I guess my biggest question/fear is: do I need to consider the business cards that I opened this year outside of Chase? I got the CIP 3/18, SPG Biz 3/18, and Aviator Biz 8/18.
I have SW flights in Nov and Dec that I could do the inflight offer. I'd like to have the CP by our flights early 3/19.
Any advice?
I think you are okay to apply, the only Biz cars chase can see is the CIP, but that only puts you at 1/12, 0/6, 0/3.

As long as there are seats available you can book the CP, even it the tickets are $500. What you can do is book the CP (on it’s own reservation) ticket using points now and then just cancel and book it as a CP once you earn the CP.

Since I'm still behind.. has anyone gotten their free nights for the SPG cards if their anniversary was after Aug 1st? DHs personal AF just posted.

Texted my daughter to ask if hers has shown yet. Her anniversary was August on one of her SPG cards.

Edit: she says not yet and she checked last yesterday

Second @amalone on this. It was also just DH and I back in June, but we thought it was a great stay. Had Blaze one afternoon, DH got his SB each morning, and the walk was manageable for two adults. Most importantly, it was clean and spacious. Breakfast was definitely easy, clean, and quick, all of which made it a nice perk.

Ok, really dumb question since I feel like I’m the only one who has never bought a visa gift card, but does it matter which one I buy? I see fees for $5.95, $3.00, $1.95. There was so many I got confused and just left. My van has been in the shop and it does not take Amex so I was going to buy a $500 GC so I could at least put that much on my Amex. Can I just buy it on my way and use? I know some people talk about registering them so I’m unclear on what to do. Also I was going to buy at Kroger for 4x but then I noticed a sign that said variable load financial gift cards get no fuel points. Then I see a coupon in my app for up to $100 visa/mastercard gets 4x. But I don’t want to buy several when I could buy one. Ughhh Help me please, feeling dumb.

And if I’m not getting fuel points should I get elsewhere?
