I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

I just checked my old statements from the year I opened the card. It looks the the AF was originally charged on 2/1. If I upgraded say 3/1, would I circumvent the AF cycle until Feb 2020? Or would my anniversary date change and I get the AF charge say 4/1?

I predict the answer will be what you suggested first, and if your AF posts on 2/1 then your original open date is actually sometime in January, and you can pc in Feb. There's nothing definitive I can find about this, I've never read that this is how it works with chase, but from what I've seen people post about their upgrade/downgrade stories as well as my own personal experience points to this pattern. But it's a bit confusing since I've also seen DPs from some people (in blog comments, not here in our thread) reporting that pc'ing did end up changing their anniversary date so I don't know if it's card-specific or if those folks are just not particularly detail-oriented. If you end up going ahead with upgrading it because it's something you want to do regardless of when the AF posts, I would think Feb/Mar would be a good time to do it.

Here's my post from Saturday regarding upgrading our Marriott cards:
I think it hypothetically could be better than that. So far neither he nor I have gotten charged the new $95 AF, and I upgraded back 3 months ago in Oct and have had a negative balance for 3 months due to the prorated $85 AF refund! If that continues to hold true, then you wouldn't even pay the prorated AF on the R-C card! So hypothetically you could go 1 year, 1 month, get your 35K FN cert, then upgrade to the R-C card. Get 11/12ths of $95 refunded, and not pay the $450 AF until your next anniversary date. ETA: and maybe still get the $300 travel credit right away???

I'll know next month if DH's $95 fee posts on Feb 1. Mine, it may not be until June 1 before my new $95 AF posts. (where's a crossing fingers emoji when you need it?)

Using DH's acct as the example:

01/16 - opened old personal Marriott, $85 fee waived for first year
01/17 - paid $85 fee, got old Cat 1-5 FN cert
01/18 - paid $85 fee, got old Cat 1-5 FN cert
12/18 - upgraded to Premier Plus (11th month of cc anniversary), refunded $7.09 backdated to 2/1/18 (equal to 1 mo of prorated $85 AF) , no charge yet for new $95 AF
01/19 - 35K FN cert deposited into his account in his original anniversary month, just 1 month after upgrading, still no $95 AF

ETA: My CSR AF will post 2/1. I'm going to add DH back on as AU in Feb and I'm betting the $75 AU fee won't post until Feb 2020. I plan on CSR being a keeper card for me as long as I have at least 22000 URs to spend.

Well I guess I’ll find out. Lol. No choice now, cruise is PIF. I’m pretty sure there’s not much the last couple weeks, but the idea of it seems bad to me, like I’m setting a bad example. Plus I’ll have to make sure he cleans out all his belongings that Friday when everybody else will be returning.
We had a similar situation when we planned a trip to Aulani right after school was supposed to get out. I had one in HS at the time who had to have a final moved and one in 7th grade who packed up early. You probably won’t be the only family with plans that can’t be changed!

I have a SW CP question. We've never had CP so I'm clueless how this works. First off, I am almost done with the spend on my dh's biz card (pers met already) so we have not quite reached CP status. But I expect it soon. Here is the situation:

Dh & I are flying to Orlando on Mar 27 and returning Apr 1. Those flights are booked with cash (his work is paying) and me with points. We are hoping to have CP with enough time to change my flight to a CP ticket. That seems reasonable, right?

My dh's grandfather passed away a month ago, and the memorial service has been planned for Apr 12 (military service) and Apr 13 (church service). My dh wants to take our ds7. DS10 has his big spring theater performance that weekend so he & I cannot go and my teens have dance, work, school, etc. SO, we are thinking we could change ds7 to my dh's CP to have him fly free.

So, all those details to ask, how does the CP work?? As soon as we get the CP, we change my Mar ticket to the CP ticket. Does my flight have to be completed before we can change the companion to our ds?

Also, is this normal? I met the SW plus spend with $2300+ in spend. Those points have posted to SW but the 50k has not. Statement closed yesterday.

My bonus points posted the day after my statement closed.
As far as your question above, it’s my understanding that you can change the designated companion 3x/year. So, your scenario could work but yes, you would need to wait until your flight is completed to change the companion to your DS and book his ticket.

First off, sorry to hear about your family's loss.

For your DH's CP, once it shows up in his account, he can designate you as his companion. As long as there's still any seat available (doesn't have to be WGA fare), then on his account look at his upcoming flights and you'll see the option of "Add Companion" to his flight, and you just click on that and you're added (well, you have to pay $5.60). After that, then cancel your flight that you have booked on points.

After your Apr 1 return, change the companion on your DH's CP to your DS7 so that now when you click "Add Companion" it is DS7 and not you. It's surprisingly smooth and easy, and can all be done online.

Any chance we could have a touring plans thread on dischurners? I would love to see everyone's plans.

For our last trip (Christmas week so super crowded), I had our mornings pretty well planned because of FPs but had to leave the afternoons up to chance -- I wasn't sure whether the better option would be standby or try for extra FPs.

Yes, I would love that!

Thank you both for the help! Should I be concerned that the bonus points have not posted yet?

That cute card can be hard to part with! Unless one of my other cards had another promo I guess I could switch to charging gas on it. I would probably say at most I would save an additional $15. Decisions.
I got the mailer for my card today. Downgraded in May. I was tempted to downgrade hers, but her design isn't available anymore and $49 won't break the bank.

My aunt's SSN was stolen and someone tried to open multiple cc accounts. They were able to open one through an online store and buy a tv for $700+. She locked her credit with all 3 agencies. The person then tried to open an amazon cc but they were denied due to the lock. She'd like to try for the SW CP by opening a SW biz and SW pers but needs to unlock her credit. What is the easiest way to do this? I know a few here have had to lock things down as well. Can she unlock online (she did lock online)?

Understandable. Which design!? I wish they would add some more. The last change was R2-D2/C-3PO to BB-8. Not that exciting for me.

Do you think you're going to upgrade?

Verbiage was 24m...card will be 24m this coming May so I don't think I would be eligible. I don't even use mine but have been getting some referrals thanks to people on dischurners.

This is her design - expiring in September...I am going to bet she will go with Tinkerbell.

I’m not sure, it seems to me there have been a few people whose bonus points didn’t post right away but I don’t remember who. My SW Biz bonus+spend points posted onto my SW acct in one lump sum of 63,001 within two days of statement closing date last week.

Oh wow, I must not have read mine that closely. HAHA good to know! Nice about the referrals.

I LOVE that card! I would never want to downgrade it either! I really don't know why Chase stopped differentiating the Premier and Basic designs? The cards themselves are slightly different so I wonder if it actually saves them money? I wish there was a current WDW option. I'm not personally blown away by any of the current designs. I have Mickey & Pals. I'd prefer the image of Mickey & Pluto to be on the front. I bet a cute card would get people to use it more! If that design was still an option, I would be going to the Premier right now!!

Good question. The backsides were plain on the regular version and the Premier had a complimenting scene based on the front of the card. At one point in the last year or two, they changed it so you could get a Visa Signature on the regular version.

I am hoping they come out with something for MK 50th next year.

Of course, I used the inflight offer link that was posted all over so now I am panicky :(

She can do it online. She needs the PIN for whichever one needs to be unfrozen. I'd find out which one and just do that one rather than all of them.
