I swear I'm in a void on Amex offers lately: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/amex-offers-marriott-bonvoy-spend-200-get-40-back/

I could use this one next week and didn't get it on any of my cards. I haven't gotten any of the cell phone or satellite offers recently, or gas, or anything else remotely useful :sad2:
I got it on my BCP. I was planning on using my Bonvoy Biz to pay for resort fees/food for my upcoming Dolphin points stay. Maybe I should use the BCP. That just seems wrong since it's my groceries card.

Instant approval for DH's 1st Citi AA Biz card using the dummy booking offer! :cool1:

Then I felt bad about forcing him onto the grAAvy train by himself. He looked lonely. So I joined him. :-) Instant approval for me too!

Now I just have to see about getting those pesky point matches for both of these cards.

Btw, I'm not sure this CC addiction support group of ours here is working the way normal addiction support groups are supposed to work...the grAAvy train was the furthest thing from my mind, but here we are. Thanks for all the support everyone, lol.

What date did you actually pay the annual fee? If I remember correctly somebody detailed 6 weeks after the annual fee was paid was when the night showed up. Mine showed on March 1st and I paid it that day so now I'm going to expect it around April 15.
I paid it on 3/8 when the bill was due. Gosh, I hope it's not that date since that would mean I have like 4 more weeks to wait which is just ridiculous given that I opened the card on 1/15.

I feel like the village idiot asking this, but if you used the dummy booking method then you aren’t planning on canceling in 90 days and reapplying?

Definitely needing some advice! I worked on our taxes this weekend and we could definitely hit a MSR or two. I had originally planned to get the CIP in May when my DH AF came due and I cancelled his card. I have been dragging my feet on lowering the CLs, so I am 50%+ for both biz and personal cards on the HHI on our apps (I usually report a round number lower than our actual so it is easy to remember and stays consistent when applying). So here are my questions ...

1. Do both biz and personal count in the %? I have CIC, CIU, Disney, CFU.
2. Will it raise a red flag if I report income higher than my last Chase app (CIU in 6/18)?
3. Do cancellations show up faster than lowering a CL? I have had the CIC since 2015 and was planning to actually close it this year and reapply (my 1st real churn!).
4. Would it just be easier to open another CIP for DH? Current one opened with a TIN for our real business (5/18).
5. Do AUs count in the CL%?

Thanks for any advice! We are go pretty slow in this space (and mainly open biz card) so I am 0/5 and he is 1/5.

Yes, I plan on meeting the MSRs of both cards within the first two months, then cancelling them once the points hit our respective accounts. For our next cards, I’ll use a biz mailer (unless the loophole of public sign up links working and biz mailers not needed is confirmed).

1- yes both business and personal count in the %
2- don’t think so..you could of received a raise, taken a new job..lots of reasons for an increase
3-not sure
4-who has the lower credit limits with Chase...I would have that person apply
5-not sure...DH and I are not AU on each other’s personal cards

I have a question. How do you get a spouse on board that doesn't travel with you? My daughter will be going back to home schooling in three years and I want to take her on the ABD China trip but I don't want to sit in economy. I want to learn the secrets of the wise here to get those good airline seats (even business class would be wonderful) but spouse just likes to take our 5% and invest it "for retirement". I know he has a point but so does my butt.
I think we all missed this comment today...I don’t have any advice for you but figured I’d quote to give it some visibility!

I handle all the finances for my wife and I. She signs up for the cards I choose...she finds out later what cards she got...she's cool with it...we all win, haha!

In light of all the approvals here today...and the discussion of our "addiction"...

Wanted to chime in about Universal and the CSR. I’ve had the CSR for over 2 years and have been able to get multiple redemptions that easily justify the AF - then some. I booked a cruise last year using URs (amazing deal) and a few hotels here and there. Someone said the site is 25% more, i’d like to see that data - I have not seen or experienced that. The 1.5 redemption value is great. We do frequent tips to NYC and I booked broadway tix for a great price and I booked a cruise excursion in St. Martin for a fraction of what the ship was charging.
We did Universal this past Feb vacation (are you a fellow MAer?). I booked RPR - the rack rate was $400/night over Prez weekend. It never dropped. Book this as soon as you can. No AP discount came out for that weekend. With the CSR I paid 26,600UR/night. I just booked to go back in Oct to the HRH for 18,800UR night - amazing price. I also did the tix through UR. They offered the same prices and promotions as the universal website. I actually skipped the promo tix and paid the more expensive 4 day tix with the CSR discount which in turn made for a greater savings upon upgrading these to APs. If your not going back the promo tix would be the way to go. The savings on them alone if your a family of 4 would justify the CSR over the CSP

I am SO glad to read this post. Just last night, I applied for the CSR and was approved, but I got cold feet. I literally started panicking, thinking I made a mistake. I had discussed with DH just playing it safe and taking out a CIU, but I just couldn’t resist. It seemed to make sense to do it. We will easily meet the $450 annual fee between our trips to TN and USO next Feb., and still have points left over for even more travel, or to upgrade our tickets to AP’s once again. (DH still doesn’t know I applied), but he won’t care once he realizes how much we’re saving. I had realized after doing my numbers and calculations again today that this card made the most sense for us, and it’s reassuring to hear I wasn’t wrong. Is an MAer (Someone from MA). No, we are from upstate NY (as in an hour north of Lake Placid).

The Apple Card is Apple’s thinnest and lightest status symbol ever - The Verge

"Apple’s new Apple Card is going to cash in on that base human craving for devices that signal status. Because it’s made out of titanium and stripped of all functional numbers, it immediately looks different. People around you at the supermarket or restaurant don’t need to know the particular credit rating requirements you had to pass to get an Apple Card, they just see the debossed Apple logo and the minimalist design and immediately recognize that you’re a person with disposable income."

The gushing in this article is almost cringeworthy (before the writer launches into the evils of credit cards and their role in encouraging debt). Apple's going to appeal to the same demographic who uses shiny metal cards like the Platinum and CSR everywhere just to show status, regardless if it's the best card for that spend. The irony is using the physical Apple Card to show off your status earns you the worst cash back rate of only 1%!

Congrats to a fellow New Yorker party:...we are all the way south on LI

Oh, this is in my plans for the week. That would be a kind of great use of some I have laying around...

Hmm, rereading DOC and it says no to prepaid cards. Though it was listed as an option? But it is only for $50 max anyway. I got as far as the initial funding, came here to ask, then had to rush out the door. So not even sure how I get back in my application or if I need to start over.

I believe @calypso726 pays for her ABD trips with Disney gift cards at 5xUR points. If you do that, with a Freedom during certain category spend or a CIC with 5x at office stores you could get a lot of points yourself. She is also the queen of getting good airline redemptions in first/business class seats. A lot of people here have reluctant player 2s. Though, I think a lot eventually see the light when redemptions start rolling in. Some never see the light. Some people here joke about signing up player 2 then telling them they got a card after the fact. I know it is all in good fun, but my sister found out the hard way her "loving" spouse was signing up for things in her name, so I personally don't even joke about it and would never suggest it. Good luck! What cards do you have already?
