I’m pretty sure this is a dumb question, but here goes....I can book a Delta flight for 14,000 Delta frequent flyer miles or 11k UR Points through the Chase UR portal. I’m assuming the UR Points makes more financial sense? If the two are somehow comparable, I’d rather use the Delta miles, just because they are less flexible on what I can use them for. If it makes a difference at all, the Chase card I have is a CIP. Thanks!
What would you do with the DL miles if you don't do this? What would you do with your URs? Use those costs to determine the value of each currency to you. What matters here is not someone else's valuation of the miles but your valuation. (Skypesos are especially hard to value because some people find them great, but some people find them to be darn near useless.)

I believe I saw both a 10k and a 30k as well. That seems almost too small for them to even bother with but I’m sure its some computer algorithm (shes says, knowing nothing of computer algorithms hahaha).

Eta- idk how to link a specific comment in a reddit thread (as opposed to the whole thread) but it is a DP from an hour ago in that specific thread on losing 10k.
to add to @gottalovepluto , if you're on a small screen look in the menu under the comment (the 3 dots) for the permalink option.

Did you- uh he- call? Did you send tracking with the info?

@Alexle2007 did you send tracking with your info? After they get it takes a couple days to get it uploaded into their system. After that it takes a few days to like a week I think to get it reviewed. I called them and once it was uploaded into the system the phone rep was able to retrieve it and do the verification then.

Anyone sending info like this PLEASE TRACK IT. Pay the like $7 and send it Certified Mail for your peace of mind.
Unfortunately, I did not. I was hurry and didn't even think about it. I'll just trust that it gets there. I'll have to find time while I am out of town the next 2 weeks to call an see it they have any information.

Have all of the Amex self-referral clawbacks been on MR cards? I self-referred for a Hilton Ascend from my Hilton biz so wondering if I should be worried. Sorry for all of you dealing with this, Amex really sucks sometimes!
I've been trying to keep an eye on that too and I haven't seen anything other than MR yet. At first I thought "well that's a good thing P2's green card didn't earn MR points on referrals, so we cross referred and no selfs and we're safe :) " Then after a long while I remembered I used my SPG Biz to get a "bonus" on my SPG personal card since I got the pop up :headache: So far I'm still in positive earnings, hopefully it stays that way. Maybe I'll try my experiment to see if I can transfer the rest of my Bonbon points to P2 this year even though I'm technically maxxed out. (perhaps I should have taken the 10k MR from hubby's BBP. c'est la vie)

I'm 50/50 on whether or not AmEx goes after cobrand points after this. On one hand it can't be as bad a hit with the more limited number of cards you can refer to, on the other hand, they have to pay for those points they gave you so it could still be cost effective to take them back (I wonder how refunds work between AmEx/Chase/etc and the program? Edit: I wonder because with Chase if you go negative, they don't claw anything out of your rewards program, you just have to "work it off". With AmEx I believe we've seen them clawback sign up bonuses out of peoples loyalty program accounts.)

I don't know they'll go after co-brands. That could really piss off the cobrands who would find themselves either having to give courtesy points to customers or telling their customers to take a hike and talk to Amex, either way the cobrand is the one now taking the heat. It would also mean Amex showing they were an incompetent credit card partner. I don't know what sorts of clauses are in those partner contracts but, just spit-balling here, I think there must be something about if one of them demonstrates egregiously incompetent behavior that damages the other's brand the other can bail- or be given a bunch of money... watch all co-brands get clawed back tomorrow.

This is my absolute nightmare. I really hope they have this better sorted out by then. I've been so excited about the option of a nonstop SW flight from our airport again and will be so mad if it gets canceled and I didn't just stick with Jetblue instead.

I'm sure this is storm related. Plus Maui was closed last night due to a wild fire.that I haven't seen a thing about today. Need to look to see if it's out. Your plane could be coming from anywhere.

The max8 won't fly til next year, the airlines should be adjusting stuff further out than they are imo.

We are big fans of Swolphin. Just stayed at Swan and Dolphin last month. Love the beds, love walking to Epcot. Like the décor personally, even if it's less Disney. And DH is a big fan of Picabu being open 24/7.
Do you uber to and from MCO?

If it's weather-related, I can understand that. But if my flight gets canceled for something Max 8 related, I will rage. We're how many months out from that now? Unacceptable. I'm hopeful that since SW doesn't have much of a presence out of RIC that it won't be an issue, but I of course realize that planes come from all over.

I only went with SW because they have nonstop flights from RIC to MCO on Saturdays now, which just happened to work out absolutely perfect for our WDW trip. But otherwise we're sticking with JB.
That is the same reason I started flying with SW - direct flights. And I liked being able to book with points and change my flight if I needed to and have the points back in my account without any issue. Jetblue was not flying out of the airport I normally use until a few years ago. So, now, occasionally I fly jetblue if its a better time or price. But I rather stick with SW because of CP. If I run into a problem in November I may quickly change my tune...

I just tried to see how much I'm likely to get taken back by Amex...and my MR interface has changed. Noooo...It is not easy to read. I think it's looking like 20K in 2018 and 30K maybe for 2019. Oh, I wish my old interface was back-the new one is exacerbating my headache :sad1:

This might make me more ruthless when it's time to cull my wallet, for sure. Amex, I love/hate you.

OMG, now I know why I like to fly SW. I had to call the federal travel agency to change my return flight from Chicago and when I go into my United account it says I need to contact United Reservation to have my ticket reissued. And the rep is now trying to tell me I have a $200 change fee plus some $50 fee. Ummm no, that's not how it works! I wonder if I didn't call if everything would have worked out.

ETA: Looks like I am just too quick to make sure everything is set. I have to wait for the federal travel agency to issue my new ticket. The very rude woman there said it is in their queue and would be ticketed later tonight.

Another DP. I got an email from Amex that they have *removed* points from my account.

Why we are removing these points

We recently noticed point accrual or redemption activity on your Membership Rewards program account that indicates an effort to obtain or use points in a manner that is not appropriate.

Assume this is similar to the notification others are receiving. The email references my Personal Plat (maybe because that's where my MRs are parked), but I think I did the self-referral from my Biz Gold. Anyway, 20k points were clawed back. Of course, I hate to lose points, but I'm pretty glad this happened after I transferred a huge chunk out to Qantas to get our JAL flights booked and that I'm not currently considering opening any new cards with Amex. Like others, I hope this doesn't hit Hilton. although I'm in a similar situation there, having recently transferred out most of my points to book the Hilton Tokyo Bay.

This was the first time I've seen the new Amex MR points page interface, and I'm another who doesn't care for it...

I'm sorry it caught you, but 20k isn't too bad. Didn't you do some self-referring to the Biz Green last July/August?

DoC says the new interface is "beautiful."

I did, so the jury is still out as to whether they go back to 2018 for more clawbacks for me. Of course, I'm not even sure which set of points this 20k clawback is related to. Like I said, never fun to lose points, but the timing worked out for me at least in terms of coming after my big redemption.
