Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

There are 3 separate lines. Everyone gets off at CBR and switches lines. It is not anticipated to be a long wait due to the continuous load/unload nature. We'll know more about wait times once guests are riding.
If I stay at Pop my first night and am moving to YC the next day could I take my luggage with me on them?

No. For two reasons - one is that the skyline doesn't have room for luggage, and the second is that it doesn't stop at YC.

Why not just have Disney move your luggage for you? Just contact bell services at Pop.

Just occurred to me. Will we be going through security before boarding the Skyliner? I ask because target make you do it before boarding the Monorail.

I would want to keep at least my medication and smaller stuff with me like a carry on style suitcase but I guess I can just take a backpack with me. I know there isn't a stop by IG is pretty close in walking distance. I really wish the Skyliner was an option for DS though.

If there is room for a stroller, then there is room for luggage. It stops outside the international gateway so it does provide easy access to YC. So what the op is proposing is feasible, now whether it's a good idea is a different story.

Do they currently allow guests to transport their luggage on the buses? I've not seen it in my hundreds of trips on Disney buses so I've assumed it's not 'allowed.'

I would guess the same would apply to the Skyliner.

Does anyone know the official answer about carrying luggage onto Disney transportation?

UPDATE:
Just found the answer on the WDW Website.

I would anticipate the same restrictions about luggage will apply to the Skyliner.

That being said, the monorail page does not list the same restrictions re: luggage so I guess only time will tell. Also, one of the big differences I see between buses and the monorail is that the monorail is now within Security. I don't know about you, but I sure don't want security going through my luggage in front of everyone. That alone would be enough for me to not take my luggage on the monorail.

Have you seen the things some people pack for a day in the parks? Not sure how they can tell the difference between luggage and park supplies. ;)

A girl in front of me in at DHS in January actually carried in her luggage (very large backpack). The guy opened it and immediately exposed a bunch of underwear. She said she only had a half day and wanted to catch an Uber straight from the park to the airport. The security guard obviously felt awkward.

I hope he wasn’t embarrassed and searched the whole bag. It would be a great way to sneak something in by hiding it under a bunch of stinky dirty underwear

He searched everything but had the girl put everything back in herself.

Sad news for another Doppelmayr system: apparent vandalism shuts down the 5 yo Sea to Sky Gondola in British Columbia. It happened when the system was closed, but Canadian authorities report the damage is extensive, and the system will be closed "indefinitely": https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/10/americas/gondola-canada-crash-trnd/index.html

PS: FWIW, I only mentioned the system being closed at the time b/c I wanted to make it immediately clear that passengers were not hurt. I would think it would be obvious that cutting a moving rope would be almost impossible, even with an angle-grinder. My guess is that the person who did it probably put clamps on the cable to take the tension during the cut; if the clamps were strong enough, they probably would have held for a little while and allowed the vandal to get out of the way before the cable started to whip.

Yeah - the replies on Facebook are crazy. Someone just posts a relevant news story and people flip out. I love Disney but wow, people are taking it so personally. Like it is an attack on there own person. It is just an interesting news story about a similar system at Disney world. SMH.

Wow. I am very curious about the motive for this. It required some effort (and maybe some inside knowledge of the system?) to cut a 2-inch cable.
