I was in Chicago but moved to Michigan. I kept using MDW for SW nonstops to MCO for most of the 1st couple of years. But Delta has really reasonable flights out of Detroit to the little airport where my DH lives. I found that I really like DTW, it's an awesome airport with several Delta lounges. They are also one of the few airlines that flies into Melbourne which is super convenient for me to visit my vaca home. I used to hate Delta but I think they have upped their game. They and DTW are a winning combination for me. The flight I take to MLB is through ATL you should see if that is a reasonable option for you, in case you wanted to visit the Vero Beach area :)
I hear you on the Plat but it gets me into the Delta lounges (DTW and ATL) for free, that with reimbursing me $150 for my 3 week old Ray Ban's (lost in the Atlantic while at Vero) within 24 hours of my claim with no questions asked makes it my favorite card.

I actually love DTW and Delta too. I think our airport is actually one of the nicest around. Bright and clean, lots of dining options (except most close too early in my opinion).

Expensive but kind of cool, includes food. I’m actually thinking about doing it. It’s the weekend before DS’s birthday. Could stay at USO hotel thru Chase portal for 15-20k points, free flights on SW. Would stay 1 or 2 nights and just do pool time. Suggestions for which hotel? Cabana Bay vs Sapphire falls or is there another cheap one?

Guys, wait for this!!! I just booked 3 1st class flights to Sydney on Qantas for 488k points for the end of July 2020! Thanks to the 20% offer on MRs that was only 407k MRs. I am over the moon excited! It will be our 20th anniversary and we went to Australia for our honeymoon. I still need to get us home and we may be peasants doing that but I am ok with that. Let the planning begin!!!
Oh yeah :woohoo: :cheer2:

I still have to get us home in Sept 2020. I really don't want to be in economy lol
We’re at the port waiting for our boarding group to be called. We got 26 and they’re at 19 right now. I don’t have high hopes to get a Palo brunch but that’s okay. We signed up for the castaway cay 5k! I haven’t decided if I’ll walk or run it. We got a picture with Mickey too.
Have a wonderful, relaxing babymoon!

I wish I had another 300k MRs since they also have 1st class returning but I don’t so I’ll to figure it out. If we have to be exhausted on the way home that’s ok. I think you are planning a very different trip than us. Since we plan to do the coast- Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns. I need to get out all my material from 2000 :) I know I want to take DS to actually hold a koala at the Koala Sanctuary and definitely see the Great Barrier Reef.

Would also like to add that as a Dental Hygienist I know not to talk about politics or religion with my patients. Now I’m adding using credit cards for there bonuses and perks to that list. HOLY COW people think I’m going to end up in financial ruin. Soo..that kind of “crazy” talk I’ll have to save for here! Haha! People are PASSIONATE about the DANGERS of credit cards.

And yet, they always want to hear about my latest travels. 😉

My daughter wants to be a dental hygienist. Right now her plan is to move to NJ (we live in MI) and work for her uncle (he's a dentist). We'll see what happens. She's also thought of maybe starting and then putting herself through to become a dentist or orthodontist.

Definitely SF If you aren’t doing a deluxe. We’ll just miss it since we’ll there beginning on 3/12 before our RCCL cruise. Wait, I just realized your DS’s birthday must be right around my DS’s. Is your DS turning 13 also?

Have we discussed that I'm in MI too? I can't remember all the MI peeps here now, LOL. Having flown a lot in the last 3 years, DTW is a really great/nice airport. I've grown to like CLT too, and those tiny airports in NC are great too. I love rolling up 30 min before boarding, LOL! But when it comes to DTW I'm totally a North girl vs McNamara. Since I fly AA more than Delta, I'm at North WAY more often. GAH! The parking alone at McNamara is like 3 times the price!

Okay we need a MI get together, LOL. Maybe we can all meet at a Staples this week :rotfl2:

Big November news....as of 11/29 I will be under 5/24!!! I should have my Hilton Biz spend met by the time I go for the CIP! I'm excited to FINALLY get the CIP! I've been waiting FOREVER to do it, LOL. I botched early on doing personal vs business despite having a legit business for 14 years. I won't make that mistake again, LOL.

So this month.....
Finish my Hilton Biz SUB
Try to get at least 5k AA miles w/ Staples and VGC. (Can I have both my Serves open at the same time? Or only 1 per name per time?)
Apply for the CIP (I'll likely wait till Dec)
Get the $500 bank bonus w/ Simple

DTW is my home airport too. I travel a ton for work and I love how quick it is to get through security with TSA precheck. Plus good restaurant options and always clean. I have seen so many airports and DTW is probably one of my very favorites. I mostly fly Delta because DTW is a Delta hub and I really prefer Delta to the other airlines. The only thing I wish is that we had SWA flights from DTW.

I'm sure I will be going through CLT one of these days as AA is one of the other airlines that flies into MLB but through CLT vs ATL w/Delta. I know, love the little hometown airports, my DH could park out front waiting for me for hours I think without anyone saying a thing. Conversely you can't even come to a complete stop at ORD without getting the look and whistle. I do need to see if there is cheaper parking offsite at DTW but the green lot is so convenient I'm kind of spoiled.

I know, I see some n/s to MCO but the return is never n/s (or convenient so no thank you). In the past when we did family trips we (oldest DD/family and I) would drive to MDW so we could all fly out on SW together. But my oldest DD now has a 2 year old and a 1 month old so not going to do the 3 hour drive to MDW any more. I booked my youngest DD and her family of 4 on SW, MDW to MCO r/t for the same price as I booked my oldest DD family of 4 and me DTW to MCO. I have been loyal to SW for a long time but Delta is definitely breaking that up.

PSA for anyone else with an ancient iPhone--apparently there is going to be something that happens tomorrow that will mess up the functioning of iPhones without an updated operating system. I have an iPhone 5 that had a 9.something operating system so I spent several hours last night getting it updated. It should have been a simple process but I had to update iTunes first, then my PC wouldn't recognize my phone so I had to update the iTunes on my laptop, then there was some error so I had to reset to factory settings and then restore from backup. I was a little worried I was going to have to trek out to the Apple store but it did eventually get fixed (I think--the software system is now 12.something).

We drove to MDW last November when our daughter was 13 months. Flew SW non-stop to LAX and went to DL for 5 days. It was originally a trip to PHX for a wedding, then continuing on to LAX. The wedding got canceled and I was never more thrilled to have booked on SW because it was easy to change our flights and just cancel the PHX leg of the trip. If I hadn't already bought the DL tickets, we might have canceled it altogether. It was DD's first Disney trip and she loved it. So in the end, it all worked out.

My husband (definitely a techie/geek) is always hounding me to update to the latest iOS (or any other operating system) because he says if you wait too long, eventually it will mess everything up when you try. I am the kind of person who hates change so I used to always avoid it but since I met him I begrudgingly do all the **** updates.

I bought a Ticketmaster gift card at my Kroger store last night, and they were not kidding about making changes. Cashier first asked if I had gotten a phone call from anyone asking for money, said there was credit card fraud, and I was like, I just want to buy show tickets?! Then he looked at my DL and my credit card to make sure names matched, looked at my face closely. He had already done all the cartful of groceries I put in there too, so it wasn't just a gift card I was buying. Ugh, normally I go thru the SCO line so I'll try that next time, but I don't have a good feeling about this. 😑 P2 is not going to like having to put in any effort...
Many of my patients are Fry’s employees, which is the Kroger store in AZ. I’m going to ask them about their gift card policy. Of course I WILL NOT mention anything discussed here, but I’ll play dumb and see if the cashiers have been given any guidelines regarding gift card purchases, and do they even care? Haha! Most of my Fry’s employees are so burnt out they don’t care. I’ll see if I can get any insider info 😉

I hope you get Palo brunch. I’m under the impression even if you’re waitlisted you can probably get in if you’re flexible with times. But it’s been a while since I cruised.

Being a Hygienist has been a phenomenal career for me. I tell all the young girls graduating to go for it. Going on to Dental school is also a great option. I hope it works out for her ☺️

Wow! So many from Michigan! I'm from Michigan too!

Quick question about MSR and returns. I bought an expensive camera and met spend but then I'm going to have to return it because it's not what I want. Are they going to count that against me for the return?

I am trying to send money to family via PayPal or Venmo. I usually send from checking account but would rather use a credit card this time. I am ok with the 3% fee to use the card, but PayPal said something about it being a cash advance. I certainly do NOT want to pay cash advance fees.

Has anyone used a card recently to send money (not purchase) through PayPal or Venmo that can confirm whether or not it codes as a cash advance? Does it matter what card is used? I have Amex and Barclay cards, but I'd rather get points on the CSR or one of our Southwest Priority or Performance Biz cards.
