Last sunrise of the decade.

Hauʻoli makahiki hou!

this was my last sunrise of the decade over in Kauai! We get to Aulani in 2 days!1672ECD9-EC92-438F-8340-8475D37D1E09.jpeg

Woke up today and saw 5 cards under my Chase business account,
I initially read this as “woke up and saw 5 cards under my CHRISTMAS TREE“ 😂😂
And I was thinking oh that would be fun!! Say someone you really trust picks you 5 surprise cards to start off your year, and then you get to open them Christmas morning. That makes me feel like a kid again :hyper::hyper:

National Parks are on my wish list for the near future. My problem is that with DH's and the kids' schedules, our best vacation time is now (between Christmas and New Years). I have done some research and from what I can tell, the NPs at this time of year are mostly cold. No way could I get DH to travel to someplace to see snow.
I will say that most of the places would be cold. The most popular parks are super busy in the summer months. Hopefully at some future time it will work out. But here are some places you could go in the winter (without snow):

  • Joshua Tree, Death Valley - I am going there in March where it will be highs of upper 70s/lower 80s. Just looked and last week was in the 50s/60s so not super hot but it wasn't snow! JT is sort of close to DL (2.5 hrs) if you wanted to do half NP, half Disney.
  • Everglades, Biscayne and Dry Tortugas (off Key West) would be warm. In fact would not recommend in summer heat.
  • Saguaro near Tucson (also several national monuments near by) would be warm
  • Big Bend in Texas

And even outside the lower 48
Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands have NPs or NMs

But it would even be great to see some of the parks in the winter. I have on my list for January 2022 to do Yellowstone & Grand Tetons in the winter. I think it would be amazing.

Only 5 more to go! Although the DIS spam filter will probably only let you post every 20-30 minutes right now, LOL!

Ohhhhh, that's why I keep getting nasty notes when I try to post. I was trying to figure out what the heck I had said that was objectionable.

@first*toright When I logged in this morning and saw your name and pic, I thought we had another SFF2 situation going on :scared1: Glad it's really you!

I am nowhere near as famous as our benevolent dictator - not likely to attract a copycat!

We are a board game family, too. Our current favorites are Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride, with Disney Clue and Trivial Pursuit as old standbys. Monopoly (and Risk) take way too long.

I have found that some of the newer games are just too convoluted to be worth playing long-term. But I'll look into the ones mentioned here.

We just got Catan junior - played it for the first time on NYE and it was so fun! Games are hard in my house - my teen really doesn't enjoy board games. She's ok with Werewolf and other social games (esp. if we are playing with a large group) but doesn't enjoy strategy games much. LO likes games, but she's 7, so it can't be too complicated or she just has no chance. The Junior version of Catan worked pretty well- games didn't last too long, and the LO could totally keep up. I think we will be playing that one a lot.

Yeah - they greatly restrict new accounts posting capabilities. It's to prevent new accounts from spamming the DIS. It corrects itself within a few days I think.

I REALLY want to see Daughtry. My parents are planning to come after the baby is born and I might have to convince them to come at that time lol. Dh and I could go to Epcot while my parents watch the baby.

I wonder if I should book a dining package. I might have to look into it just in case.

It's a biz offer, so even if it glitches and you find it on a personal, with the way AmEx is I'm not sure I'd add it to a personal now.

I asked DH to check and he found it on one of his biz cards, so I'll just use that offer. When an AMEX offer doesn't track (even with an entirely legit purchase) it's a pain to get the refund or points. :sad2:

We love Catan and Clue as well. My favorite from a couple of years ago is Tokaido. Risk gets really contentious around here so I won't play it anymore and Monopoly just drags on and on and on...

Dh loves Risk but I refuse to play with him. I think he wins every single time. I’m not much of a strategy game person. I’d rather play something like life, uno, sorry, Yahtzee
