Ultimately, if you can get a boarding group within 20-30 mins of park open (that gets to ride that day), any issues with that outcome are really about ride capacity, not distribution method.

Wow!! I fully expected today would take a little longer for initial BG to be gone. The last few days made sense (as much as it could) with people who have been shut out earlier in the week trying for the last time before they went home or wanting to ride again. But I thought today would have shown some relief.

In response to the question about the ability to check on MDE if you are tapped in, couldn’t you check your ticket? I imagine it would show one less day remaining on your ticket if you tapped in correctly. Obviously it wouldn’t work for pass holders.

I know it happened two days ago, but on how many other days have not all or at least most of the backup BGs been called?

Honestly, if I knew I would get to ride eventually I wouldn’t mind getting a much later BG or a backup group if II couldn’t get one of the first ones. Because all of the other rides at DHS are getting long lines very quickly now (especially with holiday crowds), we could get our BG, maybe do one or two rides at DHS, then move on to another park, our resort, or Disney Springs while keeping an eye on how BG were proceeding, and then head back to DHS when our number was up or about to come up.

Of course, there is a risk that significant downtimes would mean no ride, but that is, has been, and always will be a risk with any attraction.

So our trip is Tuesday. I was already stressed out and people told me to just have the cast members do it for us, but with boarding groups disappearing in a minute that doesn't sound like a good plan. We are all linked on the Disney App on my husband's phone. My friend told me that they would just scan his phone and give us our tickets at the gate. Is that still a good plan or should we go to Disney Springs to get the tickets so we can enter? So we get to the park at 6am...enter and wait and at 7am my husband just frantically reloads the boarding group button on the app. Is that right? There are 5 of us. Sigh...

We have a one day ticket for Friday and a group of 10, so I've been trying to figure this out. I spoke to a CM on the phone for like 40 minutes yesterday and he was so helpful. But he told me that there was no way to check on the app to see if, in fact, everyone in your group was registered as having "tapped in," but that he wishes there was. But a few people have posted in the last 24 hours that it is possible to see. I'm worried with such a big group that this will somehow glitch for us, so I was trying to figure it out!

I asked the CM that I talked to yesterday about this, and he said it would definitely take longer to ask a CM to do it...especially if they are gone in two minutes! o_O Good luck on Tuesday!

Here’s what I’m worried about for our day which is Tuesday: we have a total of 6 people on my husband’s mde account. Only 2 of those people will be at DHS and trying for a BG. On top of that, my DH will not be there and riding. From the playing around on the app I’ve done, it looks like after we hit “join boarding group” we will have to unselect my DH and then go down the list and find the names of the two other people to select. I’m worried that all this selecting and unselecting is going to be pretty slow. Is the process faster and easier for mde groups where everyone is riding...like a select all button? At a minimum, I wish the app didn’t select my DH automatically because that’s one more step to remove him.

I have a feeling I’m going to like this process as much as I like trying to get a good boarding position on my Southwest Airlines flights at the 24 hour mark.

If you're able to go to Disney Springs the day/night before and get your tickets, I would do that, just to be on the safe side. There have been a lot of people at DHS every morning and, if it were me, I wouldn't want to take a chance on having some ticket glitch or extra long line gum up the works.

Do you and/or any other members of your party have a phone as well? It'd increase your odds if you also had MDX on your phone and could try for a BG at the same time as your DH. The system locks other members out once you have a BG, so it's not like you'd both get one.

The CM theory is a no-go because things are moving too fast the last few days. However, if you or your DH gets a BG and for some reason all the members of your party--all of them in the park with you and tapped in--aren't listed in the BG, then you go to a CM, who will put all the members of your party together with you.

Good luck! Enjoy RotR--it's really that amazing. However . . . if for some reason you don't get a BG or backup BG, go to the SWGE area anyway. It's beautifully done and you can do standby for MFSR, browse the shops, and maybe even get to go to Oga's, which sometimes takes walk-ins.

Is there a reason why you can't have your own MDX account? Or that the two people (if you're not one of them) can't have their own MDX accounts? This would eliminate this problem entirely, I think.

Please keep the discussion of this to the thread in question, but FYI for those staying at Pop (and presumably AoA too??), some important transportation information: https://www.disboards.com/threads/pop-reducing-bus-service-to-1-hour.3784964/

I am not sure what that means for early morning DHS bus transportation, if anything (as currently the Skyliner hasn't been running early enough to get into DHS at park opening anyway). But keep an eye on things if you're staying there soon.

The two people who are going are actually my college-aged DD and her BF. We thought about having her make her own MDE account but after calling Disney IT we decided it was cleaner to keep her under my husband’s account for now. We had a bunch of CM comp tix attached and feared the potential problem of the system glitching because it thought she had two accounts. We still have a few more family trips coming up and didn’t want to mess with things too much.

You will only be selecting, not deselecting (other than the account owner.) “Select all” would include those that are not tapped in. Taking a few extra seconds to select your party won’t prevent your group from getting a BG provided you are in the park when the VQ process opens.

I know people expected less crowds today as people are leaving this weekend but I don't think people will really be 'gone' until tonight. Tomorrow, Monday morning, should really be 'less crowded'. I have been at Disney before in this time frame (Sun eve Mon Tues post NYE week and pre marathon weekend) and it is really empty. If BGs go in the first 60 seconds tomorrow morning I think that's how it's going to be going forward.

(empty for Disney pirate: )

But the mde account is my husband’s and he won’t be in dhs that day. Doesn’t the system automatically select him and I have to “unselect” him?

Does the BF have a MDE account? Can't you just use his? Add your daughter to his friends and family.

Just got off the phone with Guest Relations (I was on hold for 25 min) she confirmed all Skyliner resorts will have the same situation. Since the Skyliner technically doesn't start running until 7:30am they assured me that bus transportation will be available every 20-25 min to DHS before that, also when the skyliner breaks down

Yes, you deselect him and select whomever is there. Also anyone from home/hotel can help you out, by logging into the MDE account they can try and let you know if they got through. I know it seems like a process but it shouldn't take you more than 5 seconds to do this (if the app is working properly)
