I hope this is OK to ask here.

Is there someone with Amex MRs that would be willing to check the "cost" (in MRs) for me of a particular hotel in Japan if I send you the specific hotel name and dates? I am just trying to make my next plan and for the moment, it's going to be MRs since I am out of URs. (I don't have an MR earning card yet so I don't know of a way to look, myself).

If this isn't ok to ask, please let me know and I will remove the post.
I don't really know how to check something like this personally...(int'l travel w/ MRs aren't exactly my thing) BUT this is absolutely OK to ask here! Truly the only thing we'd want to avoid "asking" or "discussing" here are the more fringe loopholes that we want to keep safe from google search. And even veiled mentions of those are fine, we just don't want to put things on blast for reasons: 1) you don't want to air openly how hard you're hitting a loophole and 2) we don't want the wrong people to find out sensitive information and screw it up! Other than that, I'd say everything is up for grabs here on the thread!!

No kids here. We got clobbered last year. I am nervous about filing this year because I made some significant portfolio moves. Basically taking the tax bite now vs. later but still. April probably won't fun this go 'round.
I'm nervous about filing too. I just have no idea what to expect and we got hit hard last year. The tax reform did not benefit our fam at all, despite being very middle class.

It wasn't very kind to single parents either. And the state of Virginia is making out like a bandit since a chunk of people are no longer itemizing. Okay, I'm done.

So the last time I checked in I was going to have DH apply for a Hilton Aspire. Well that backfired as he go the popup. So I decided to go for a CIP. I got instantly approved on Dec 18th.! I was super excited as I had large swim team fees to pay on Jan 1st. Did it arrive in time? Nope! The card didn't come till Jan 6th! That is the longest time I have waited for a card. I didn't want to call to have eyes on my account.

We are getting a rental car at PHX on Sat for 7 days. I went with Costco as I like to have coverage for an additional driver. I would like to put the cost of the rental ($230) on the CIP to help with MSR. But, since this is not a "business" trip ... should I use the CSP instead? The CIP is in my name but my DH is listed as the main driver if that matters.

You can use CIP for the rental car if you want. The only reason not to is if you want the insurance coverage from your CSP. Most people have been told the credit card name and the main driver need to be the same. You could just change that at the rental desk. Since it is through Costco, you’ll still get two drivers and you DH can drive.

My sister got a Uniqlo one for Christmas and it ran small. I got 32 degrees and it was perfect. I LOVE it. It does have a bag but the bag is so packable that I just keep it in the pocket. It’s hooded although the mens ones aren’t.
I’m 99% sure I’m going with 32 degrees. Thanks for sharing.

I used to get super anxious about my Disney trip weather. Last year, we ended up with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s the whole trip. Normally this would have frustrated me to no end, but I really tried to embrace it. And I'm gonna say, it's crazy...but it was our best trip ever! I really enjoyed touring the parks in jeans and a hooded sweatshirt!! I think before, I let it mess with my mindset. I'm not telling you how you should feel, or whatever, just saying, that I was where you were... so I get it. But somehow I don't feel that way anymore!
Exactly! This has happened to me numerous times as we usually go in November and March. We can just as easily have a 60 degree week as an 80 degree. I always try to look on the bright side. It’s not as hot waiting in line either!

Yep. If you're still awake you can PM if you like, or blast it out - we'll have a race for who can find it the fastest

This morning’s view thanks to my Aspire status from the Doubletree Universal.

ETA: The CSR did acknowledge my Diamond status but I had to ask for a room upgrade.

Well that sounds like fun! Thanks for offering.

I am looking at the Hotel Monterey La Soeur Ginza (looks like this):

465700

For four nights:

Checking in November 16 and checking out November 20 (4 nights). 2 adults in the Moderate Double Room N/S, and I am looking at the rate that is free cancellation:

465701

Thank you so much!

As a side note- most of the hotel rooms (non Western chain hotels) I've been looking at in Tokyo are TINY. 174 sq feet is smaller than the cruise ship cabin we just had! Thankfully the room in Kyoto is larger!

OM G I just saw that Disney “Theyre only little for a little while” commercial and I need to book a trip today. No, not crying.
ETA - and Inforwarded it to my husband to see if I can get him on board and he’s “not” crying either.
