Our APs don’t expire until June. It would be about $40 cheaper through tickets at work to buy them now but we wouldn’t be able to do monthly payments. I think we’re gonna go through disney because we could pay monthly, use disney gcs (right?), and we will easily make that $40 just from interest in our bank account. We get about $60-70/month. Plus we won’t have to buy them until around June

Shutdowns have reached a NEW LOW today... Somebody who had cashed out for gift cards via Points.com and had the gift cards in hand and had even used some of them had all of their gift card balances wiped to ZERO today.

So if you think you're a potential shutdown target and you made it out with some gift cards...USE THEM...NOW!!! This is getting ridiculous...what next, will they come siphon the gas from his car for the guy bought using his gas station gift cards????

Anyone else having trouble changing a SW flight? I can't get DH's flight change, it keeps getting an error.
This is the error I keep getting, it would be 0 points to change the flight, there are 2 tickets left at that price but it says this:

I think there's a glitch somewhere, within the RR account. I don't think "change flight" is showing correct pricing.

I initially booked a ticket at 6870 RR with cash price of $109.

If I go through my acct and select change fight, that ticket is showing at -49 meaning 6821 now I get 49 back. I attempt to switch and get an error.

If I go through and price out that ticket outside my acct (as in new flight) it is actually 8998 RR or $139. So it's actually not lower than I originally booked, but rather 2177 RR higher.

Still the same general MO for number of SUBs?
And if they transfer them to a different gift card can they still wipe them?

Has anyone signed up for the new Hyatt promotion? I'm pretty excited about it since something>nothing and I have about 4 stays booked during this promotion period (15 Feb-15 May).

https://milestomemories.boardingare...m_source=BoardingArea&utm_medium=BoardingArea

Thanks for reminding me. I saw it earlier and forgot to register. We actually have a stay on Feb 16 so getting that first stay in is good timing. But no other plans right now. 😢 😢 Will maybe have to push DH into some work trips. haha I don't like to pay for the hotels, lol, so work trips would be better to rack up the points. Though I am actually paying for the stay this weekend at a Hyatt PLACE. I have about 5 Hyatt HOUSE offers on my cards but no Place!! They must know!
And it is not even anything good, stupid Ann Arbor in February, I want warm not Michigan. (haha I say this because I know all the UM love here. lol)

No change on that front
Not sure on the gift card...It would be safer and add a layer for sure...I don't know what advice to give on that one! If they're Disney Gift Cards do you combine them to one...then transfer them a couple more times??? Book a hotel then cancel and ask them to refund it back to a NEW gift card???

LOL, time to get creative!

Did you get Disney GCs? I've seen chatter on the boards about Disney being able to track Disney GC balances through at least one balance transfer.. and then Disney locked up the entire balance of the new GC, even the balance that wasn't part of a fraud investigation. This was related to buying from a discount site that seemed like it could be shady, so I'm not sure if that could happen to yours. But better to be aware hopefully? :flower3:

Yes. This is essentially what I was seeing as well, but you explained it better :)

Has anyone ridden the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway? I wasn’t planning to visit Palm Springs since we don’t have many days in Joshua tree but was reading about the tramway. Wondering if it is worth driving to Palm Springs?

Not sure if this helps. I've ridden it, and it's very nice. At the top, there's a little museum/cafe and observation deck with view of the whole city. There are also several trails to hike San Jacinto park. We went in July so it was nice to get out of the 110 degree heat (it's about 75 degrees up the peak). But if you're short on time and not even visiting Palm Springs, I'm not sure if it's worth a special drive over from Joshua Tree.

Probably depends on how Points is deactivating them. If it gets reported as fraud and/or Disney gets involved in the deactivation, they've reversed payments before.

If Points can only deactivate unused ones, like doing a return I guess, then it'd probably work. Did the guy say if it was only unused ones or did he have any remaining balances wiped out too? (If he had any)

He did happen to mention that one card he had partially used with a remaining balance of ~$2 was untouched.

This is insAAnity! I wonder what their threshold will be for stopping? Are new accounts getting locked or are they still just going through previously locked ones to now shut down?

Off topic but this made me think of it @SouthFayetteFan and others who do this- if I bring disney GCs for our trip would it be easiest to charge to our room for the onsite portion of the stay and then pay the room balance nightly with GC? Or would you recommend paying with the GC itself? Also do all snack places/restaurants take GC on property?

https://www.disboards.com/threads/i...t-page-for-addl-details.3729982/post-61294932@jaysraptor I know we were discussing the Wells Fargo cards a few months ago. Don't know if this would change anything but interesting information on the Biz Plat card regarding the airfare redemption. The higher rate is only advertised on the Visa Signature card but this redditor seems to have received it with only the Biz Plat and Cashwise cards. (Unless they don't know how to math)
@miztressuz Thanks for the info, reading over it now. Both P2 and myself have had the Visa Signature cards since early 2000's. We were putting almost all organic spend on those cards and when looking to book airfare, it was valued at 1.75 CPP since we were putting over $50,000 a year on that card. We recently both got the Wells Fargo Propel cards, and the signup bonuses and spend points go into the same Rewards account as our previous Visa Signature cards were contributing to. Looking now, if we were to use points for airfare, we only get a value of 1.5 CPP.

There terms and conditions state the Delta Platinum Amex must be used to pay the cardholders fare and companions taxes/fees in order to use the companion certificate.

I have no idea if that is enforced, but would be interested in knowing if it is not a requirement.

It just has to be an Amex card. I have used other Amex's to pay for companion certificates...I don't think the system is sophisticated enough to pick up the differences between the different cards. I used an Amex Gold to pay for 2 different companion certificate flights last October. Delta and Amex IT is not as bad as Disney IT...but it is not that fancy. :)

I was thinking I would combine them all on one of my other empty cards, and not put them with any of my other cards with balances, so at least if they managed to do something, that my other cards would still be safe.
