What is going on with Disney parks?

We are out of state too and that really is what makes it not feasible. I’ve been going every year for 30 years and this is the first time we have seriously had the “well where else could we go” conversation.

My pass expires tomorrow which is why I am agonizing today lol. But alas, first world problems! Grand Canyon looks cool.....

I can manage crowds, fps and adrs. We have learned how to enjoy Disney world with a minimum of frustration. Ticket prices can be a hard pill to swallow but we usually go for 7 days and it makes the daily cost more tolerable.

That being said I’m not sure when I’ll be back. It really boils down to hotel rates at this point - which seem to be soaring while available is very limited (awhile back I tried to book a trip for this week 2/14-2/20 and at one point there was not a single room of any type available. Later some popped up but nothing under $600). We have always been an on site family - my wife and kids insist on it - but that bubble has burst. Everything is on the table now

At some point you start to feel like a sucker instead of a guest invited to share the Disney magic. Kind of puts a damper on the whole idea.

Agree. I can take everything but the hotel prices.

Next year we are staying at Gran Destino, our first time at a moderate. Booked early because I'm afraid as time goes on, those reasonable prices for such a nice hotel will sky-rocket. And since it's for next year, I can't make any changes to the reservation (no changing dates or making a package) or I will have to pay the 2021 rate which is what I'm trying to avoid!)

We will stay at Yacht Club again in future, but that means we won't be back for probably 3 yrs at least after next trip due to the prices.
The hotel alone now can cost more than our other vacations around the world.

Hearing people who are willing to spend $400 or $500/night or more for a hotel complain about price is something. Then also, hearing people say there is no availability at said expensive resort means Disney still has room to charge more.

This is like the parks being packed and then people saying it is to expensive. Demand is clearly there and unless people legit stop going to WDW things will continue to increase.

This isnt brain surgery people. It is simple economics.

Side Note: If you are going to WDW on some sort of regular basis and spending $400-$500/night you prob shd be looking into DVC.

If all of this in reference to my post, I guess I'm missing your point. :duck:

Yes the room rates are the big problem for me. I'm sure I will be complaining about ticket prices when I have to actually buy them, but for now, it's rooms. The only way we will stay deluxe in the future is if we rent DVC points again.

So, we can't complain about the price increases and therefore stay cheaper and go less?

Makes sense.
Price clearly is not an issue at WDW (based on occupancy, parks being packed, avg guest spend).

Maybe I just need to avoid this thread.

You're on an enthusiasts site, arguing that people here shouldn't moan about increasing prices coupled with declining quality/experiences because Disney are still making money hand over fist. I mean, that's absolutely a valid point and all, but yeah, you should probably avoid this thread.

Upcoming Spring Break trip for our family of 4, we are doing 6 nights Beach Club, Club level room only and it cost us $4303.

Looking at our next trip, we had the same 6 nights booked for October, same resort, Club Level. The room only price, with AP discount was $6082.

Good Golly. I noticed a couple weeks ago there was a BWV 50 point resale for $7500, and one available today for $8300-not a lot more than $6082 or even $4303 actually.

Those are at least double if not triple from our last BWV resale purchase about 5 years ago.

That said, it does get you 5 nights in a BWV studio each year during a few months including October, about $300 a year in dues after down payment.

Now that's not BC Club Level but my guess is BW Club must be similar.

The narratives that people are priced out, fed up and unhappy just are not playing out. The parks are packed and people are spending.

Somewhat agree with Clarker on this. Someone is going and filling rooms and parks. Long gone are the days of low periods and quiet times. Long gone are the days of deals so good it pulled people in. If you dont like the price at a Deluxe, switch to a moderate ( Coronado is as good as most deluxe), switch to a value, or stay off property or in Disney Springs.
And while it is an enthusiast site where people will debate due to differing circumstances, differing views, the inistent clamoring about Disney being evil and greedy ( They are a business subject to the stockholders returns on investment) and things arent "fair" ( fair is a state of mind based on your own perception), or prices go up too much ( take a look at other entertainment ventures as successful as Disney..>Wait, there are none but even ones not as successful raise prices) is banging your head against the wall.

Believing that what is posted on a message board or in social media is going to stop that machine from rolling is wasteful time and words. You have to decide what is best for you, what is valuable to you and what youll pay for that, etc. Its individual and again, circumstances can dictate things. We live local, have Resident platinum passes. We were at Aquatica yesterday morning and decided around 1245, eh lets go by AK on the way home. We looked at wait times and it was wow, parks are slammed. So we went having that expectation and on the drive over pulled FPs for Dinosaur, Everest, and FoP. We knew what to expect, had a plan, and enjoyed a few hours in the park. SO for us, value remains. If and when it is nothing but negative for you, stop going.

Because the vast majority of Disney guests are NOT these board members. The people on this board make up a miniscule percentage of guests. For everyone here who complains prices are too high and they're done, there's 10 (I'm sure many more) other people going for the first time, or for a repeat trip.

But even on this board, how many people complain about the price, and then turn around and book their next trip? 🤷 As others have said, talk is cheap. If you're really fed up - stop going. Don't drop from a deluxe to a moderate, that does nothing. Just don't go, period. Otherwise you just continue being part of the problem.
