Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I doubt they will discount tickets... But the reality, a soft opening is only beneficial to locals. One, they can come and go when they want, not to mention they are still paying their AP premiums. Being cooped up in the house for several weeks to months, that will be the first place they will go to get out of the house. For the rest of us, there are too many variables that say it doesn't make sense to go IMO. One, prices probably wont drop, so does it pay to go, spend the BIG Disney number that it costs all to go, to get there and have the stuff closed and limited?

Came here looking for this take in the comments because they're MTE. I'm not a local, there is absolutely no benefit to me to visit a "reduced" WDW if those reductions include certain rides not operating or fireworks eliminated, even if the price were reduced.

I'm curious to know what % of revenue comes from the locals and what % from non-FL residents - I think that would be the more accurate indicator as to what Disney would do and how fast to make money back.

Just ignore it. No way that post is true. Either the poster is lying to get attention or the person they got their info from is lying. Do you think Disney would be offering a special starting June 1 if they really thought that? Not no but heck no.

I don’t believe that post is coming from accurate insider information (at best maybe a worst case plan) but I do think offering the special starting June 1 was kind of bold on their part, I don’t think it would be too surprising at this point to see people having to reschedule twice. That in itself, at least IMO, is just a small part of the picture.

Maybe the insider meant November at 100%
anyway it’s all speculation and mass guessing at this point hell I asked the person I follow working on galactic star cruiser if rumors and speculation I saw on the DIS thst the project was scrapped was true and she pretty much said as far as she knew no and if it does get scrapped she would let Disney’s PR break the news

Agree. I just don't see non-locals going for a long time unless they can open fully much sooner than I think they can. As a local I'd go even if they had zero rides open and it's just to walk through the parks. But idk how they would make money off of us. We aren't staying in hotels or doing sitdown meals every day or even buying that many souvenirs. The only thing I can think of is making the rides pay only in order to keep it safe and make lines literally non-existent. Want to ride Splash Mountain? $20 to reserve your time and you get your own boat that has been cleaned and will be cleaned after.

It is amazing how many people have a "friend in corporate". Corporate must be the most popular people in the world.

Something is very off for the immediate future (June)..
I went to make FP and there is NOTHING at all.
Tower of Terror is at 6:00 PM only.
I have never seen that. No Tier 1 anywhere. And this is at 7:00 am sharp.
To me that points to looking like a big reduction in the ride capacity.

nah, it was like that when the tiers changed, it became very hard to get any tier1 at HS.

There's threads on TPAS about this. They clearly have reduced FP capacity for June, presumably as part of a social distancing contingency plan.

This is different. It is at all parks. Tier 1 was hard but for ALL rides to be after 3:00 pm is not normal
Star Tours usually has them all day.

gotcha, I thought you meant just at HS. I noticed the tier changes was probably the worst change for those that are local or can only book under 30 days. It was very hard to get any FP's by then.

Has anyone heard any rumors about what might happen to buffet restaurants? I'd be surprise if they could continue operating the way they do.

Food Blog posted about the FP issues

my cautiously optimistic yet anxiety riddled brain right now is thinking phased openings/opps adjustments from Aug/Sept this year till mid 2022 and even then like post 911 things will be a new normal (like temperature checks at security will probably stick around as well as masks)

as to the pp about buffets I wouldn’t be surprised if some of those restaurants become more family style meals (like Ohana or whispering canyon presently are)

Easy to fix - have a CM serve from behind the counter. You can still have a buffet - you just can't let guests serve themselves or breathe directly on the food.
I was thinking they might go family style possibly? I guess they could do anything but I doubt they will continue as they are.

Had a trip booked in May for son's college graduation (which was cancelled :( ), rebooked for early August but I'm thinking unless things change dramatically will postpone until next year. I definitely don't want to go to a theme park wearing a mask during the summer. I addition unless our family becomes immune in next few months, he is starting law school mid August and I don't want to risk his academic start. It's disappointing but WDW will be there next year (or whenever this is over.)

Feel bad for my kid, though. When he was a HS senior his graduation trip to Paris was cancelled due to terrorist attacks. He kinda figures this is par for the course!
