The Dress Shop on Cherry Tree Lane

Calling all seamstresses! I just bought my first ever Dress Shop dress (thanks to this thread about the sale) and I love the looks and the fit but.... I noticed some threads are hanging off of the one strap. I don’t know if it’s worthy of returning or if I can just snip the excess threads. It just arrived today and I’m not very knowledgeable in the sewing field. Thoughts? And is this typical of Dress Shop dresses? I’ll attach a pic. Thank you!

I suggest clipping them carefully with good sharp scissors.

Thank you! I will do that and was hoping to just do that. I just didn’t know if those extra/loose threads meant unraveling/damage down the road.

Oh my gosh!! I’ve never had Dress Shop dresses come that way!! Hot Topic dresses, yes, but they are a fraction of the price!!

Oh my! I totally agree with @anniebean. That being said, I personally would trim them.

I was surprised too for the price. Besides that flaw, it did cheer me up seeing that dress (and the Star Wars skirt) knowing I’ll need to reschedule my July trip! Thanks all!

I totally understand. I was on cloud 9 when I got my Alice dress. Which dress did you get?

Walt Disney World Halter Dress. Super cute! Lol may just have to sport it out on my patio for now... and my local grocery store

The only time you would NEVER clip loose threads are when they're surged/sewn on hems similar to image below.


You should tie knots to prevent the threads from unraveling. One pull could unravel the entire hem same with cutting loose threads.

I noticed some threads are hanging off of the one strap.

Maleficent dress came in. I LOVE IT!!
Dress does fit similar to Trader Sam’s, but more like the 2020 Minnie Flower & Garden dress....meaning, not AS tight thru chest, but still snug.
I took pics, please no judge. I covered my face as much as possible because I’m totally worn out from work (it’s been crazy and about to get crazier.....if my bruises could talk, whew). I tried getting pic of bottom of dress while wearing it.
I did pair it with my black bow belt & poof just because I like it.

I got the belt off amazon. I actually own a lot of them because I like pairing them with different dresses. They’re pretty cheap. I used a cream color with the castle dress a while back. I got a size medium because that is usually what fits best in waist for me. A lot of the larges look frumpy, and I think it’s because I have a short waist
