Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Based on an article I read: there will be six teams staying at Yacht Club. Each team can bring 35 staffers and 17 players. They are trying to make it a COVID-free bubble. I have not read anything to indicate that the general public will be allowed to stay in the same hotels. I have not seen anything from Disney, just articles and tweets from bloggers.

With the COVID numbers going up in Florida, things could change. I just wanted to mention that this thread is the only place I have seen people speculating about the general public staying in same hotels as players, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Here’s one article: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2020/06/17/inside-nbas-health-plan-safely-hold-games-disney-world-bubble/?outputType=amp
I actually think the general public will NOT be allowed. I was just speculating if it were to happen. My guess is that YC will be completely closed to guests through Labor Day as well as SAB. Think the last round one game is Aug. 30 which means some may still be there Sept 1 and then families can all join in the fun at some point. I don't even think they'll move the teams to GDT (I saw that on twitter from the guy who broke the hotel news, speculating that may happen. it was then picked up by the media). I read Disney (think in WSJ) is doing this to lure more NBA special events in the future. They will cater to their every desire if that's the case. Including their families. Just like us, they will want SAB and proximity to parks. Unless of course, they are so pampered, the families get VIP transport to the back entrances of the parks every time they go in....

just checked. WE BEEN MOVED TO POLY CL!!!!!!! words can't even. Aug 28- Sep 6, If SAB opens at any point during that time I will be LIVID. Hubby is not happy do to pool and food situation as well.

our Bounce back reservation the week before at YC CL is still showing.

What amazes me is that Disney just does this and doesn't email or phone or anything to discuss that they are going to be moving you for xxx reason. Just amazing.

So the AP extension thread is on fire. Apparently we can get 8 months of our passes refunded. This combined with SW changing both of our flights over two months out....I don't know maybe it's a sign not to travel. IF SAB is open to the public we could keep our earlier August stay and hopefully be moved from YC to BC.

But the number of COVID cases in FL is really starting to scare me...

I spent a chunk of time drafting an email to GS about both the AP issue and resort issues - CL, pool, changes without communicate, etc. I'll let you know if I hear anything in the next week. The AP issue has blown up the phone and chat lines. I feel bad for the agents. yikes. My email started calmly but then the AP news broke and the tone switched mid email before I got the the resort issues. lol

I can't find the post, but didn't you say that you had used a travel agent for this booking?
If so, that's who should be on the phone sorting this out. TAs represent a lot of business to Disney and have more pull. I never needed our TA to argue with Disney, but ours worked hard to make sure we had everything we wanted.
Either way, if they moved you without your consent, then they need to compensate you. As to whether its booking you in a better resort, a partial refund, free dining or something else, that's up to you.
No one mentioned the Swan or Dolphin. Have you looked to see what's available there?

I don't disagree. We have been beyond impressed with our TA for this booking (first time using her). She has been so professional that I am surprising we haven't heard from her today. I've been so busy with work, drafting a GS email to Disney regarding the AP and hotel situation and distracted by all the Disney news, that I've not reached out to her.

Yes I want compensation somehow. Seems silly to ask though. But the dining reservations for august I had were canceled by Disney a few weeks ago and now I need to do them all over again for some of the same restaurants. Plus I don't think there will be club level yet and I definitely want compensation for that. I'm afraid Disney will come back with - we've 'upgraded you to Poly Garden CL.' so no compensation for the CL.

on the resort change thread people are reporting getting moved from YC CL to DVC without any loss of CL compensation.

Hello Dee and everyone! Just popping by to report that MDE is still showing our YC stay from 8/11-8/18. I’m hoping it sticks but I guess I would be OK with the Poly if they do end up moving us. Sure would be nice to know that before Monday though. (deep sigh)

Unsurprisingly my DS is hoping we can remain at the YC so he can be near the NBA players. :lmao:Especially if the Celtics are there. But I don’t know, it seems unlikely they’d mix guests in with the teams.

I have such low expectations for this WDW trip it’s unreal. I feel like we’ll spend the majority of our time just wandering around outside all day with nothing to do, then sit in our room all night annoying each other. Ahhh good times. Can’t wait.

Cases and deaths per capita in FL is much lower than in Virginia, and much, much lower than Maryland.
There is simply no argument that FL cases are setting record highs. The difference is FL is rising sharply. There is good reason for concern.

Most of the problems are in the southern part of the state, where most of the population is.
https://www.clickorlando.com/news/l...shows-florida-coronavirus-cases-in-real-time/Everyone has to make their own decisions on how concerned to be, because everyone has a different situation.
If you are travelling with people with preexisting conditions, you should definitely be concerned.
After that, it's personal.

Before that, it's all personal. There are 5 counties hit the hardest. Orange is now one of them. I listen to medical experts and look at data- going by that, everyone should be concerned. https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/96dd742462124fa0b38ddedb9b25e429

I don't care to continue the battle of charts, to me things are getting much worse. No discussion will alter that fact.

We have decided to cancel our upcoming stay in August. You can remove us from the BOG list (8/19-8/29). With all the changes and unknowns and was feeling like he actual vacation was going to be just as stressful. Hopefully next year will be somewhat back to "normal" or at least more of a vacation we want take.

Just had a nice, long call with the VIPassholder line and they confirmed no public information is available about the status of the YC (other than SAB being unavailable) but she did predict that since no YC dining locations are available in their system it seems possible more people might be moved. This was also my gut feeling as well but really there's no way to know for sure.

I might make a couple of extra MK park reservations in case we are relocated to the Poly.

So just for clarification. The only pool open at BCV during initial reopening phase is the small pool by the villas. Is the other small Beach Club pool open also? Wondering if both Beach two pools will be open ?

I know SAB and the YC quiet pools are closed .

Therein lies the problem. Book more MK or book more Epcot/HS . Location matters to me . 😐

I am still showing BC CL Aug 6-10.
I went in to Modify my check in and it’s asking if I want housekeeping every other day or want to decline. Also, my magic band selections had been deleted.
