Land Of The Lost - The DVC Members with Resort Reservations and No Tickets Crying Room....

I called member services Friday night and they said tickets could be updated to a gold ap. We have really old partially used park hoppers with two days left and a lot of water park days. Somehow I made five day of reservations for the parks. But we aren’t sure if we will have the tickets. We get there 7/11. Not sure if we can upgrade these old tickets (on the app it says may be able to upgrade to annual pass). But then we can’t use the water park ones? We plan on going to guest services to see our options. Really want a gold ap

Historically if you upgrade a ticket with water parks and have used any of those water park days you can only upgrade to an annual pass that includes water parks. Hopefully they will let you purchase a gold AP 7/11, and you can keep your old PH tickets that have the WP.

Thanks. Would be nice if we could just save it and buy the annual pass.

I cried on the wrong board, lol 🤣

Anyway... as word was getting out about the park reservation system in light of capacity, DH and I discussed it. I said it felt OK if only being able to go every other day, or if they split park days into 2 shifts to get more people through.

It didn't even cross my mind that they would just flat out move room-only to a bottom priority. Our onsite room is $2.5k non-refundable. Instead of respecting the various commitments different guests have made, they decided to turn it into a ticket frenzy. I don't appreciate it after dealing with so much already. We've made the effort to willingly accept the limitations to our experience, the effort they made in return is "We need a lot more of your money. Right now, this week."

Not sure when you called, but Disney shut down AP sales around 4:00 pm Friday afternoon.

Hello, joining the cry room! We have a group of 15 family members, staying in 3 villas during Thanksgiving week and have been members of DVC since 2008. Had our dining reservations all booked, next was looking at buying park tickets. It was bad enough to see the dining reservations disappear, but to then find out we have no assurance of getting into the parks was the icing on the cake. I am so bummed that we don’t have access to buy tickets yet and am strongly considering cancelling our trip. We always go to Disney that week, every other year. If we go in November 2021, we will be trying to rent out a ton of points that will expire before then. o_O

Adding my scream to the torrent: We have our first ever DVC reservation booked for November 4-15 2020, a split-stay with two sets of guests for the first and second halves of the trip, and registered for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon at the front end. Things were complicated enough that we hadn't nailed down who was going at the time the Disney ticket guillotine came chopping down.

I'm really hoping they find it in their hearts to prioritize DVC reservations without tickets at least higher than general open ticket melee for the unwashed masses.

On a side note, my Oct week was booked in conjunction with our cruise and the Moonlight Magic on the 6th which if I am not mistaken has not been cancelled. My question is if we ever get a crack at a park reservation, do i need to reserve HS that day since we will be going their for the Moonlight Magic?
If I'm able to book tickets before July 15th, the date to book MM, I'm going to book as if it's canceled. After 90 minutes on hold with MS today, she reaffirmed that us with DVC reservations only can't buy tickets until they become available to the general public. She also confirmed that nothing has been decided about MM in September and beyond.

So with all of this.... Personal opinion?
There IS no DVC. No means of contact (phone or EMAIL), total confusion, Zero performance.

Currently, our family got robbed of 147 points (APR 2020 use year). We are trying to rent these at Davids. But we are also seriously considering selling all of our contracts, for whatever we can get, based on DVC behavior.

When the going got tough? DVC went home, and watched NETFLIX.

I am not disagreeing that Disney hasn’t frustrated many people. But I also have april UY and our banking deadline in 11/30 can you bank your points?

I'll toss my hat in here too,
Oct 30 - Nov 9,
I HAD an AP in my basket...left for a day and the next day while on the phone with a CM trying to sell it to me the next day (we walked through the whole process, she added it the cart no problem), then WHAM, No sale, she said that's weird and we tried for several more times all of which failed. We initially thought it was my payment method so as to not eat up her time, I checked online and I was able to add it and put it in my cart, and disconnected from the call.
I tried buying one online the sale failed again, I called my card issuer and they said they had not even seen anything attempt to come through. I immediately called membership back, got someone who only kept repeating, AP's are not for sale, I tried to explain I just had one in the cart, and I just tried to purchase one, but alas, the CM of course does not have the ability to override...So, I decided to dig into the sale page. I opened the chrome-dev tools and watched the transaction fail again, it was a POST 400 error, Order not saved (if there are any CMs who work IT and read this, I have the full error stack if you want it).
Once I saw the error I understood that Disney was starting to block sales...I was caught right in the middle of it!...it stayed in my cart taunting me for two days constantly throwing errors at me...of course never allowing the purchase...By 06/22 it was no longer available in my cart even...Now I'm here lamenting my trip, hoping, that when park tickets become available I can work out a miracle and get at least a few parks in during my stay...kinda need this vaca to celebrate my newfound singleness!

I'm there for Wine & Dine also. There aren't many DVC rooms left for that weekend, so my concerns are with park availability once tickets become available to those of us who don't have them. On top of the Half Marathon, Food & Wine will be in full swing, so now I'm even less optimistic.

unfortunately i think there may be alot to what you are saying. I work for a very large corporation and it may sound crazy but you could simply miss the “decision” meeting and if you are not there as an advocate for your part of the business, the collective group will continue on and they will promote their cause and finalize what is best for them. People may think this couldnt just be overlooked that easy but if the DVC leadership was not part of the conversation OR they didnt fully think through all the scenarios its as simple as that, they moved forward.
There is also the more sinister angle that this was planned. Although i am a member, i get lost in some of the DVC details. I know that there has to be a certain number of cash rooms to remain bookable and this often leads to availability issues for the allocated member rooms. My question is in this scenario, if a large portion of the members cancel, do they also need to keep availability open for members or can they rent all our rooms for cash? i am sure someone knows but if there are no restrictions, thats a big upside for Disney. They already have our money and since availability will be scarce because only DVC resorts are open, they can double up by reselling our rooms.
I think everything is a possibility right now with the loss of revenue and the usual cash grab approach.

Disney can book as many rooms as they want with points they own, no different than any owner.

They can also take rooms at the 60 day mark and sell for cash...we get back some of that, capped at 2.5% of the total dues...the rest they keep. They are allowed to anticipate that too so can actually take them well before that.

They also get rooms when people use points to trade for cruises, etc.

Given that DVD owns at least 2 to 4% of the resort, and has acquired points via ROFR, there are a lot of rooms they have a legal right to take and use for cash guests.

I live in metro Atlanta. Saw these at my Kroger in the gift card section. It’s says take straight to gate. Could these work for people with reservations and no tickets?

I saw somewhere else that these need to be activated when bought and a person tried at a Target and they said they could not purchase.

It would be interesting one could get them!

I'll toss my sad hat into the ring...

Renting DVC points for the first time, AKL Kidani 2 BR with 8 people. Plan was to buy military tickets in May. Held off to see if they were even going to open back up or not. By the time they had announced they would be opening, they cut ticket sales off. Had bought three MNSSHP tickets, now that is dumped. Can't cancel or reschedule 'cause...DVC rental.

I will never understand why Disney wouldn't prioritize people who have actual room reservations, tickets or not. Make the lead on the resort reservation call a number, give the resort res#, and allow them to buy tickets to cover their trip. THEN allow everyone else to buy tickets and make park reservations. At this point, I would even pay full price for tickets and forget about the military price. I may be looking at an entire trip with no park days. I have some super unhappy family members right now...

So am I! But I'm not counting on it. Anything that requires the least bit of tweaking from IT (somehow only allowing resort guests to book tickets) will either not happen or be a dumpster fire.

My money is on fighting to the death against the masses for tickets.
