Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

They opened the San Diego Wild Animal park too... i think the SD zoo too but not entire sure about that one. I saw the Disney Food Blogs video and post about the wild animal park when it opened which is why I had hope that DL would open.

The zoo is open. My dad took my daughter there on Tuesday. He said they practically had the place to themselves... I think they are only open at 30% capacity. It makes me wonder what low capacity will look like at Disneyland.

Hi.

I noticed on the Disneyland website. The Disneyland Hotel is not available for booking until October 1. You can only book GCH and PPH for dates in September. I would like to stay at the DIsneyland Hotel in September but can go in October. Just prefer September. Do anyone think the Disneyland Hotel might open earlier or later than October 1st.

In the Benefits of Staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel, the Extra Magic Hours feature is still listed. IS this going to change? For me and my family, it is one of the main reasons we stay onsite.

Also, has anyone heard if Disneyland is doing anything for Halloween this year? Parties? Events? Decorations? I know Halloween Time at the Resort usually starts the Friday after Labor Day. Will that be scrapped? Haunted Mansion Holiday? Regular Haunted Mansion?

We could go next summer in 2021 but Splash Mountain might be gone by then.

Any help, info or tips are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Joe

I haven't seen any confirmed info about any of those things from Disney unfortunately.

I would assume no EMH since WDW is not doing that, but we really don't know yet. WDW also cancelled their Halloween parties, but I would assume they will still decorate for Halloween....

I went to one of the local zoos here in the Netherlands and for most parts it was great, it was nice and quiet, plenty of space.

Only a themepark is something different. There is less roaming around. At the theme park I visited last week (where they are at 30%), the queues for the big coasters were constantly between 45-80 minutes. The limited capacity on the rides kills every feeling of a park being 'quiet'.
When you make your decision for a ride, there is officially no option to leave the queue, cause you can't keep your distance when you have to pass people on the way out. Same with evacuations, today one of the rides had a major breakdown, it took a while before the queue was safely evacuated.

A week or so ago, I had a peek at the Disneyland Shanghai app (never removed it after my visit two years ago :P ) and saw a 180-minute queue for Soarin, which is normal during the summer season.

So if you go to any themepark after reopening, I would prepare for regular queues.

I thought no EMH since WDW is not but it is still on the website. Thanks. At least there would be Halloween decorations.

I don't mean to sound unsympathetic to those with actual medical conditions that make mask wearing difficult or impossible, but if you're that compromised, now is not a good time to be in a situation with so much potential exposure. Maybe skip Disneyland until masks aren't needed or there's a vaccine?

ETA: And if you just don't WANT to wear a mask, either accept the rules or don't plan a trip to the parks.

I just got off the phone with Disneyland Hotel. They are hoping to have the Extra Magic Hours even with the new policies in place but I was told to call back and check their websites and the Parks Blog when they reopen.
That is interesting! Can't wait to officially find out!

A lot of people with developmental disabilities have a hard time wearing a mask. There can be many reasons besides physical health that make mask wearing hard to do.

so it looks like with the WDW reservation system, all members of the party must have a valid AP, so does that mean family/friends with just tickets cannot be a part of the reservation? And my next question, are they setting aside dates for ticket holders too or just the resort people and AP holders? I know DLR hasn’t made any information available about their rules, but just in case I want to know.

I get that. I had a child for whom that would be true. But if a person, for whatever reason, is unable to wear a mask, then I still say that now is not the time for them to go, both for their own health and the health of others.

I agree. It's just a sad time for those families. Luckily my autistic boys are used to wearing masks enough at this point that we should be okay for short park visits.

Just received a call from Walt Disney Travel Company checking time see if we wanted to modify or cancel our July 24-30 vacation. I told the CM that I would hold onto those dates for now and will wait until California allows theme parks to reopen and when DL announces an updated opening date.

Very smart move. Because as of right now- still- anyone can book a room at one of the two hotels that were supposed to open starting 7/23 right now. I just checked to see if booking dates were still available after their Announcement on Wednesday and they are. ( checked PPH) That’s really weird considering it was not possible to book prior to them announcing when they would start opening the hotels

Me either. The Cast Member that I spoke with also assured me that there would of course be Halloween and seasonal decorations but he did caution me not to expect the normal offerings for Halloween, He said the priority is getting the parks open safely.

A friend called today. It took her two hours to get her first WDW reservation. Coincidentally, it’s for July 17. She couldn’t get July 11.

We had a ressie for DLH in September but got a call that DLH will be closed so they are moving us to GCH. I think there is only a very small chance that DLH will be opened in September at this point. I do hope they will still do all the Halloween decor and the Haunted Mansion makeover this year.
