My CSP link still goes to a good one. I wonder if they are either going to roll out a new Hyatt offer or if they are stopping support on it. My hyatt card is the only one I currently hold and can generate a link on because none of my others have them, so at least my CSP still works since I can't generate a new one when it eventually dies. So I also can't check to see if you can get a new link on other cards.

@calypso726 when did you guys apply for the Hyatt? I think there's been a couple others that have applied recently too, wonder when the support stopped.

I have it as a green star 'just for you'.
I was able to do Hyatt but I don't know how to do the format correctly. If someone could look at it and direct me I'd appreciate it.

I'll start this by saying I've read historical fiction about Eliza & Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr so I'm familiar with the story of Hamilton which I think is helpful in understanding who's who and what they are singing. I also enjoy musicals. However, and it's nothing to do with the cast, the content, or the style, it's very well done and I can understand why people like it, but I'd really be happy turning it off and not finishing it.

I know this is an unpopular opinion around here. But I'm glad disney got it and put it up because it's the only way I'd have watched it. It does amaze me that they are able to remember all of the words, so many lyrics and songs.

It goes by when you got the bonus and yes you'd need to cancel the card. Also of note, if you have the newer version of the card it takes longer for the free night to post. My af posted april 1 and my cert doesn't expire until May 18. The one from last year expired mid march. I had upgraded last year so that's part of the change, but they used to post much closer together. So it all depends on when you got the bonus, if you want to wait until the fn posts and if you're ok with the offer out at the time you want to apply again.

I will say, while I've thought of churning this card, the current sign up bonus isn't appealing to me at all. It doesn't help that I got in soon before the sign up bonus changed from the 2 free nights anywhere to points and then again to the current offer on the new card.
This would be my third time with this card. I first applied when the offer was 2 FNs at any hotel (redeemed at the Park Hyatt Place Vendome in Paris). Applied and received again in 2018 when the offer was 60,000 Hyatt points (can't recall the spend -- maybe $3,000.00 and I used them towards a stay at the fabulous Park Hyatt Sydney). I am okay with the reduced offer of 50,000 points as I can transfer 10,000 URs to Hyatt and still get 2 FNs at almost any property (and I am eyeing the Park Hyatt Sydney for winter, 2022). The FN certificate hasn't really been appealing to me -- in 4 years of holding the card I've only used it twice.

Okay, I think I've got the format straight for the Hyatt on Dischurners

@calypso726 - I meant to purchase a few Radisson points to round up my points total and forgot before the double points offer expired on June 30. So I went exploring on the credit card details website and found that an ecert can be earned for 10K spend, and you can do this 3 times per year. Have you ever MS'd this with your CC? And if you did, did you also earn the 50K points for the 10K spend?

Edit: at 5x I'm just going to round up by spending a few $$ on the card.

I found it to be a very enjoyable musical and saw it at the Kennedy Center.

But, it was long and I did get restless in my seat. I'm glad I made it through to the end. The length makes me think that I would enjoy it more in two parts.

I applied yesterday.

Never done that and thanks for the heads up! It’s always been a sock drawer card for us.

Just finished watching it on Disney+ and as much as it was good to see the original cast, it was far more impressive when I saw it touring in the theatre. Just like sports - some things are better seen live.

Still stunned to see my daughter mouth just about every word as we went through the show. If only she could memorize content for AP-USH in the same manner. :p

I came here to post the exact same thing. We actually didn’t make it very far at all and turned it off. It’s just not for us. We gave it a try. I love musicals but this one wasn’t something I enjoyed

The end did make me tear up, but it's because the last song finally showed Eliza and Alexander's love to me and touched on all she did after he was gone to help with his memory. It wasn't bad but I think I figured out the 2 issues I had with it. The first, and I have this issue with a lot of musicals, some of the songs were longer than they needed to be and it wasn't for a dance number. The second is kind of an off shoot of the first, there wasn't enough dialogue. I get a musical is full of songs, but this really was more of an opera with very little dialogue. I think some of the songs, not the raps, those were fun and good, quite liked Jefferson, but the songs could have done better as dialogue and maybe let some things go a little deeper from it.

Either way I still don't like Burr.

My Hamilton advice is to listen to soundtrack before seeing it! I haven't watched the TV version yet but absolutely loved the live one in Chicago!

I keep seeing this and I don't understand it. I didn't have any problems understanding the lyrics but I also know their stories, who didn't like who, how it all turned out etc. I feel like a better suggestion would be to learn about our history if you don't know it so you can understand what they are rapping and singing about.

That’s how we felt. We wanted more dialogue from it and honestly weren’t fans of the rapping

I tried to call and cancel my SW biz today (several times) but couldn't get a human to speak with. Not sure if it was due to the holiday, but if it was, it would be nice if that was said during the recorded message.. Anyway, sent a SM and it was responded to and closed within 10 mins. Works for me, I was not looking for a retention offer.
We have a SW Biz that AF just posted and I’m considering whether to keep it or not. Are there often retention offers on them?

I can understand not liking the rapping though really with how they used it, it wouldn't have worked in song and I think was better than had it just been dialogue. Some of the rapping was quite clever and funny. But I do think it's more opera than musical, as not all opera's have to be in italian or actual opera singing.

I guess part of the listening to the soundtrack ahead of time is that there is so much content in the songs and the lyrics go by so fast. For me, it isn‘t that I wouldn’t know what’s going on - you’re right that if you know the stories from US History you can follow - it’s that the songs get better the more I listen to them. The first act, especially, is a great songlist to work out to. But, like all art, to each their own.

Data point if helpful to anyone:
DH has an older Chase Marriott/Bonvoy card. We were going to cancel (to streamline our portfolio) even though the fee is only $95 and we get a FN certificate. He called to cancel and they offered to downgrade the card to a no fee version and he can keep this year's certificate.

Now a question:
The hotel we want to stay at is 40k points and the certificate is for 35k (used to be a 35k room - we used the FN here the last 2 years). Will they allow us to "top up" the certificate with 5k points? I know I can call, but we're still skittish about going anywhere and not 100% sure we want to do the trip (a local road trip we do every year in CT).

Count me as another in the camp of “not really a fan” of Hamilton. I’m gonna commit to finishing it but I could probably have turned it off after 30 mins. (I’m halfway through now).

3 hours of rapping isn’t exactly me lol. I wish they would stop the “songs” and just have some dialogue. And I also can’t really say that history is a fave of mine so the subject matter isn’t catching my interest. If I was going to watch a musical my preference would probably favor a classic or a Disney show.

I don’t think I had any idea what this was coming in so it certainly didn’t line up with my expectations of a musical 🤣 (as I have visions of Oklahoma, the Wizard of Oz, or Beauty and the Beast in my mind lol)

That’s ok though... they don’t have to please everybody.

Oh but be careful, apparently not agreeing with everyone that it's fantastic or thinking knowing the history might help more than prelistening to the soundtrack, and I'm sure now this comment, will get you an angry reaction. For our opinions. I get that reaction is there, but I don't find it useful on a message board that is largely based on people's opinions. If you don't agree, great move on our explain why but don't get angry and then react with that.

I can also appreciate what Hamilton is and what's been done with it without actually liking it. So I'll go back to watching She's the Man and also add that Hamilton is better than Thoroughly Modern Millie and that has that fantastic Julie Andrews in it. That was a hard one to keep watching.
