So...about 50 groups awarded in the morning and another 50 or so in the afternoon (with more that are backup if the ride is going extra smoothly?). We have 2 days currently scheduled over Thanksgiving at DHS and we were planning to have one morning to sleep in and relax (but didn’t want to miss the 7am drop if that is where the vast majority of boarding groups are distributed for the day). Thank you!
The numbers depend on how the attraction does with the overnight testing most of all, they don't have a set number everyday

Staying off-site. Wording of instructions is to be in Disney Resort or “nearby.”

Anyone secure a BG from an off-site location? We are on I-Drive.

I just don’t believe that Disney is filtering IP addresses to give preference to on-property guests, as my family suggests.

Anyone with a park reservation can get a bg, obviously you have to be close to get to dhs within an hour when your bg is called

The “nearby” part is mainly an assumption on Disney’s part. They have no idea where you’re really at. They only care that you have a valid ticket and park pass reservation for the day.

they assume if you have both, you’ll be “nearby“ enough to get to the park for your BG.

If they were filtering IP addresses to give preference to on property guests, then people staying on site, but who are using data (not wifi) to request a boarding group would have a harder time getting a boarding group.

Thank you. I saw someone posted she was in Tampa when she secured her BG. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Right now they have not chosed to know where you are. The nearby is because you only have 1 hour to get from where you are to the ride entrance based on your BG Number being called.

Note: If you get BG 1-10 at 7 AM please make sure that you can be to the attraction by 11 AM or drop your BG so others may benefit.

They could require the use of location services to geo-fence guests to say a 50 mile radius of HS.

They are now using location services to allow you to join the new MDE enabled wait-list at Beaches & Cream at YC if you are "close" enough. It would not let me join since I am more than 100 miles away. And I could not even select the wait-list option unless I turned on "location services" for the app. The app prompted me to enable location services.

Yes all the restaurants that offer wait list are set up the same way, you have to be close by

I just got boarding group 17! I just hope rain doesn't shut the ride down. I spent 3 days at Disneyland before the lockdown and didn't get a boarding group any of those days because my cell carrier broke down at park opening every morning, and my Disney World park reservations for the rest of the week aren't Hollywood Studios, so this is my shot to ride Rise of the Resistance.

Got BG14 and my friends visiting got BG5 this morning.

I do wish the walk up list was set up for “Disney property” radius. I was able to join Sanaa weeks back from MK. It was a 45 minute wait and we had more than enough time to drive there and still wait 30 minutes. There have been a few days where we leave the park and want to eat but no reservations and the whole idea of driving around to get nearby to join a walk up list is annoying. When it gets to that busy time, there is no guarantee that others won’t beat us there to join before we waste the gas. We just barely made it to join Olivias the other day as right after we joined, the list was then full the rest of the night. We still had to wait a good half hour after driving close enough to join. The annoying part is too that Disney security won’t let you park unless you can prove you have something. If it’s 45-60 we should be able to join if we’re on Disney property. Start using that $10 penalty if anything.

Practicing today from MInneapolis was successful. Not the case yesterday despite the exact same approach and timing to my knowledge. That’s what makes me concerned for our Thanksgiving week trip!

I agree, I'm 20 minutes from property and it would be nice to be able to join and eat on a whim

So I'm BG 17, and I'm in line for Tower of Terror right now, at 10 minutes to park opening. Do I probably have time, or should I dip out of line and make for Galaxy's Edge now?

You have time, they are doing BG 1-14 now. It'll take a little bit for them to get through those groups. You have an hour from when they call your group, I don't expect you will wait in line for ToT long enough to have to rush to Galaxy's Edge.
