Splash Mountain mask policy & adherence?

Hi guys! My daughter loves water rides but is concerned about potentially having to share a log with maskless folks. From what I’ve seen in people’s blogs, there is no exception to the “masks on rides” rules for Splash, but how good are people about that? Do you see many maskless faces on that ride, or do people generally respect the mask rules on it? TIA!

I don’t think it is more or less than any other ride. Your face usually doesn’t get much of the splash. We try to pay attention in the queue to the people near us. The ones that cheat on the rides tend to have “warning signs” in line like not distancing, nose peeking, pulling down masks to talk or take a sip. We give those people a wide berth and then ask to be seated in a separate vehicle for shared vehicle rides like POTC, or a to wait a bit back like at Splash.

You will encounter people improperly wearing masks at any moment in any area of the park. If this is a concern, you will need to decide what is best for your family.

We went in August and I was very surprised at the high level of mask compliance overall (and the consistent enforcement by CM), including Splash Mountain.

I figure as long as we’re outside, we can always put some distance between us & people who, in our assessment, are being unsafe. I hate water rides anyhow, but when I asked my (water-ride loving) daughter if Splash should be part of our plan, that was the one thing she worried about. I got the first of the two Moderna shots already (am scheduled for shot #2 right after we’re back), so I will have at least partial immunity when we’re there. 👍

You all will have a fantastic time! My mom hates water rides, too, lol. But me, my wife, and my dad are going to make her go on them in our trip in May. Enjoy yourself and rest assured knowing that Disney has gone above and beyond to make everyone feel safe.

This is what we did the 1st week of February. The people who weren't abiding (which, truth be told were few and far between) were very easy to spot. The CM's were more than accommodating if we mentioned wanting to be seated in the next boat, car, etc.

Everyone has their own level of comfort of course, but I REALLY don't think you should let this stress you out. WDW is THE safest place we have been with THE most stringent rules. We are from So Cal and went in August - it was like COVID boot camp. We got back to LAX and immediately were stunned how LITTLE we were doing here in CA, and as you know CA has far more shut down than the rest of the nation. If anything, I would avoid Fri-Sun in the parks. We saw more (not a lot more) rule breakers during those days than mod-week. Draw your own conclusions there.

PS - the tip about extra masks after riding Splash is a good one. The chlorinated water on the mask was really irritating.

"& people who, in our assessment, are being unsafe " I feel sorry for anyone that you think falls into that category. People who make these types of statements need to rethink trips .

Why on earth would you feel sorry for those people? OP said they'll hang back and avoid them. Its seems OP will do what's comfortable for them, without confronting or inconveniencing others.

I take it back - I do feel sorry for people who can't follow the fairly simple rules. Wear a mask and be socially distant. It's not rocket science, so the type of people OP is referencing are making a deliberate decision to repeatedly & consistently not follow the rules. If those rules don't suit them, they need to rethink trips.

But posters in this thread agree that most people riding Splash Mountain are following said rules, which renders your snide judgement, and mine, moot.

Because they don't typically stand back they loudly complain about what they feel people should or not be doing. And the reports of WDW of how well WDW has been doing during this are all over the place. I have not seen one post about how Nobody wears Masks on SM.

Does anyone have issues with masks falling off? My grandson is concerned it will go flying off. I told him we'll add a lanyard/string to it.

I prefer to judge people on their actual statements and not put words in their mouth about their intentions. They didn't say they plan to raise a ruckus and they didn't say they saw reports of Splash Mountain specifically. They had a concern, and people have been reassuring.

There is only one person in this thread acting the way you describe and it is not the op...
