Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

So I just booked AKL Club Level with the AP discount (30%) for the last week in August. I already have the WL booked for the same days, so now need to sit down and figure out which days in which parks, dining, etc. Then will chop days off each reservation and make it into a nice split stay. Nothing like having the club lounge to relax in when its 100 degrees out - assuming the AKL club lounge will actually be open then (if not, then will start over with the plan)

Edit: Also rebooked the WL with the AP discount, which added an additional 5% from the regular discount.

Also, what do you guys do on party/after hours days. Deciding if I want to go easy or do a morning park and rest prior. I'm so confused! I have some contingency restaurants booked but with park passes I want to nail it down. I was going to have the boo bash day be my husband's golf day but he said too long of a day and he'll be too tired. He wants to golf the following day🤷‍♀️. Our event ends at 1230 and my kids are night owls.
If you are doing a late night I highly recommend sleeping in and late breakfast. When we have tried to do all day parks we never make it until the end. It is way too much heat and walking. That being said, my SIL does this all the time. They leave their room in the morning and go all day long. I don't know how she does it.

Sorry, can’t speak to Universal because I avoid it due to ethical reasons.

But event days are always a lazy resort/chill day for us because those are always late nights and we don’t want to wear ourselves out. When we stayed at Poly and went to MNSSHP, we rented a patio at the Oasis pool for the whole day of the party and left a bit early so we could shower and get into our costumes. We plan to do that again for Boo Bash. Before VAH I had a low key day around Disney Springs since I was staying at French Quarter that time.

The one time I ever did anything before a ticketed event was my last pre covid trip, I did the Xmas party my arrival night because it was a long weekend trip for F&W, that was the first night of the party that year and the only MK time I would have. Very exhausting day considering I came in on the 5:45am flight that morning and stayed at BC. Was super fun but not sure I’d do that again lol.
Haha. We're staying at YC but the kids want to start at Mk. I'm complaining because it's far and no boat/monorail. Lol
For a restaurant in the park I'd go with Mythos and if you're looking for something at City Walk we love The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium.
I just booked toothsome and someone else just recommended mythos. Will go look it up. Thanks. I currently have Margaritaville , toothsome and some place at our hotel my son picked (portofino bay).
My DH & I stayed at HRH over Memorial Day and while I can't comment on any park restaurants as we didn't go into US or IOA, we had a great meal at Bubba Gumps at City Walk. The following night we went to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and while it was good, it wasn't anything fabulous (not a place I'd rush back to). My SIL said Toothsome Chocolate Emporium (also City Walk) is very good. We didn't go for dinner, but we did grab take out for dessert and that was amazing! We had a quite wait getting through the take out line, but it was worth it....LOL.

As far as party days.....we would always spend the morning/afternoon at the resort pool. We'd book a dinner ADR for around 4:30 at a MK area resort and then after dinner we'd head to MK. We usually got there around 5:30-6:00, would get our wrist bands for the party and then just do whatever until the party started at 7. Chilling for most of the day prior to a party always worked best for us because we knew we'd be up pretty late.
I did book Margaritaville but that can be changed if we find something else. We always go in the Bahamas and my kids love it. They said it's not a mi

Haha. Not us! When we went in march my kids napped almost every afternoon. They are 17 and 14 and have had a very lazy year at home.

Thanks everyone for the advice. We will sleep in. Maybe go to epcot for an hour or two. I booked a late lunch/early dinner at Via Napoli.

This is just my opinion, so please don't change anything because of it, but Margaritaville was a bit of a disappointment. We tried it for the first time this past November and the food was just blah....nothing to write home about.

I don't have high expectations for Margaritaville. We've been to them before and it's more for the atmosphere. That's also the first to go if we find something else we like. I was looking at cow something or other. Was the atmosphere fun? The one in the Bahamas overlooks water so I'm not sure orlando can compare in that regard either lol. We usually do appetizer type foods and drinks there.

Ok hear me out. Tell me if this is nuts. We are at YC Sunday- Friday then head to portofine Bay CL until Monday. AP discounts came out and YC not included. GF is and is about same price but noone but me wants. Keep in mind my hubby doesn't like split stays. That said, AKL opens up Thursday night. Thursday happens to be our AK day. How nuts would it be to cut YC a day short (we have to to pack anyway for PBH) and check into AKL CL for opening night. We can have a leisurely evening at AKL before universal the next day. Close to the park and CL. Thoughts? Is that insane?

Edited to add I booked the night already but didn't shorten YC yet lol. You guys know how crazy I am. I could also do coronado tower for 1000 less! No balconies though and not sure if we would miss it. I would still choose GF over all choices.

That's the only Margaritaville I've been too, so I have nothing else to compare it too, but it was definitely lively in there. They have a volcano that erupts and the music is obviously pretty great. Lol!

Margaritaville is standard fare. You're right, nothing special but it makes for a good break in the afternoon or evening from the parks. I loved sitting out on the porch area, not as loud and the servers seemed to be more attentive.

Since you guys are my go to, any restaurants anyone loves at Universal?

What I normally do is a few hours in the morning, lunch, then a really good break back at the room (no pool or anything since the sun wears you out). No DS, none of that, rest in the A/C with no crowds. I usually can't sleep, but I at least stay off my feet and chill, then head back and hour or so before we're allowed back in the park and have dinner there. With Boo Bash I actually have MK in the morning and it's my only MK day I have scheduled on this trip, just getting it down in one day. I do love that morning time feeling, so I'll go and do a few hours, lunch ADR, and head out. I'm a night owl though, and once that sun goes down my energy goes sky high so I have zero issues finding the energy. My event ends at 12:30 too, and I've been to AH events where I got back to my room and in bed a solid 24 hours after I woke up the morning before to travel (2:30 am), but I know I wouldn't want to golf the next day unless I had a super late tee time.

If I was going to do a split stay like this (and I have.....and it was with AKL CL lol) I would just bite the bullet and do AKL and not Coronado. At least you have CL, whatever capacity that happens to be (and I'd love to hear what that is to know if I want to switch to it *cough*). I also really just don't like GF, especially not without CL, just not worth it especially if no one else wants to stay there. Like I said before, at least at AKL there is CL and you can watch the animals on the safari from your room, plus it happens to be your AK day so it's super convenient for that.

Haha yes. Coronado is out already. It's basically do I change for the last night to see AKL and it's club. My room should be ready early too lol. If I stay at YC I will probably do epcot because it is right there. AKL will force me to relax. There's no point in switching for 1 night if we don't spend time at the resort.

So I guess I missed some news today. We (Deluxe guests) get EMH going forward? Given how high prices are right now for these resorts, I guess it’s nice to get some added benefits.

I wonder if they decide to do something similar with Fastpasses (Incrementally more for Deluxe/AP/DVC etc)..

Yeah, sort of surprised by that one. Can’t say I’m personally a fan of that kind of benefit being tied to resort level, but it does mostly benefit me I guess (I like CSR sometimes though!).

Devil will be in the details I guess in terms of how big a benefit it really is.

Wait, what??? We get EMH, where did you hear this?

They had to do something to limit evening EMH and imo this is as good a solution as any. They were so crowded it negated the value in it.
