DH and I got rear-ended last night. He's really in pain this morning and I'm doing sort of ok on massive advil doses. I think we will wind up renting a car for a couple weeks (even though my policy doesn't cover it) because I have to go to philadelphia to help out my DD (her DH is getting back surgery). I'm so overwhelmed, I can't think straight. What credit card for a rental car? And will the cheapest rate be through enterprise with the insurance discount or should I look around? DH is pushing for a new car, but really is is not so terribly damaged. I just don't know.
I'm sorry to hear about your accident. Soft tissue damage is not fun.

In terms of rental car coverage I think the CSR and AmEx platinum both provide coverage, hopefully others can confirm.

Try Costco for the best rental car rates.

Go to www.autoslash.com and enter your info there, they will search through all of the rental companies in your area and let you know which has the cheapest rate. Then compare that to what Enterprise is offering you. Usually takes 5-10 minutes for Autoslash to generate the quote.
For CC for a rental car: CSR, CIP, CSP then any AMEX. The Chase Premium cards all offer primary coverage on rental cars automatically, AMEX offers it but you have to pay a very small amount per rental to activate it. All other cards would be secondary to your own insurance.

Hope you feel better soon!

Agree with @EACarlson , except CIP would be secondary for personal use within the US.

"Auto Rental CDW is primary coverage when renting primarily for business purposes, renting outside your country of residence for personal reasons or if you do not have automobile insurance. Coverage is secondary when renting inside your country of residence for personal use."

I have a bunch of amex and a CSP. So looks like CSP is my best bet?

Sorry about your accident. I hope you guys start feeling better soon and find a solution for your car! That doesn’t sound fun at all.

Oh no…hope you both feel better quickly…even though you don’t have rental coverage with your insurance I’d see what it would cost through them vs a Costco or other rental.

That's crazy that the playground opens at 10am. We always switched off sleeping in while the other parent took the early rising littles out of the room for a bit, playground was the usual destination.

My kids always slept in the closet of the 1bed villas! Was a joke in our family - we made you sleep in the closet. :-)

Enjoy your trip!
My cousin and family stopped by to visit us for a night a few weeks back and our basement bedroom has a walk in closet. Their three year old was so excited for "her room!" and that was all her :rotfl:

Sorry to hear that. I'm still talking about soft tissue damage from being rear ended in 2015.

Insurance and rental - if you already have a shop doing the repairs, sometimes you can get a good rate on a rental through the shop. It's been a while since I've done this but it was significantly cheaper. Not sure if the option is available to you. Not talking about insurance paying the rental.

But also, the other guy's insurance should be picking up your rental since you were rear ended? Assuming they had insurance?

Man this genie stuff is sooo confusing 😳
Just very frustrating not to have all the details.

I also have a brother who has very severe disability and normally received a DAS pass. I’m finding the new DAS info very confusing and difficult to navigate.

We are supposed to be going Labor Day (if we still go) and then not again until January. I was trying to fit in another short trip but I think we’ll wait until January because I need to see how this all works out

Yes, I hadn't checked but mine from 8/10 also didn't count though earlier ones did. Glitch? I'll give it a few days and check again.
Tracker has updated and everything is counting now. I went ahead and finished P2's reloads in hopes everything would work itself out. Now I have to finish mine. I did a $1 load to my Serve account online to see if it would work and it tracked. I don't mind the $0.50 Amazon reloads, but is there a reason not to use Serve?
