Yeah, what a crazy situation going back to the younger sons drunk driving boating crash that killed the young woman. There's probably even more that I haven't seen, but geez, the latest developments are wild.

Yes!! I live in NC, so not too far away. Never heard of this family until recently. But this case has sucked me down a rabbit hole. I can’t fathom how much unraveling there will be as more info comes out about this story!!

For sure. Definitely intriguing. Will be interesting to see if the husband is ultimately responsible for his wife and sons death. I don't think I've seen anything tying them but I was already wondering before his latest situation.

The other national story with the couple that went on a road trip and only the guy came home is crazy as well.

I believe he’s definitely at the root of it. I’m just not sure if he pulled the trigger, or if he hired someone.

Pretty sure he hired someone as he definitely had the alibi of being with his sick father days before his death.

Now, if he didn't hire someone, it's a wild coincidence. His recent actions seem to point directly to him though.

With Murdaugh, he has an air tight alibi being with his father. Yet he hired a hitman to kill him, so wouldn't be shocked if he did the same for his younger son (given his charges) and soon to be supposedly ex wife.

Yeah, I was really hoping that we'd find out they had a fight and he left her along the road or something. But the latest news seems to point otherwise.

The family has lots of skeletons in their closet for sure. However, I suspect that there will be plenty of other players entangled in this web. From what I’ve read, in this county you either fear the Murdaugh’s, or you’re one of them.

If this story was a movie, as opposed to real life, I would complain that it was way too far-fetched.

This story is crazy and I just read that they have now reopened the case into a housekeeper who died on their property from a slip and fall accident. I think he owed the wrong people money so they put out a hit on his wife and son. This will definitely become a made for TV movie.

I saw his attorney on the Today show this morning and learned something: Drug dealers take checks! I'll bet they want to see two forms of I.D.s though

There is also another young man found dead on a road from 2015 who was supposedly in a romantic affair with the older brother. His death was murky and hushed up. That case is being looked at again.

This saga is pure Southern Gothic novel material!

I listened to one podcast about this and am listening to another one now that has more detail. DD went to college not far from where all this happened.

I think the father is so far into something criminal he can't get out of it. I think the family has been 'untouchable' for so long, getting away with whatever 'bad' things that happened to them, that the father thought he would never get caught. I think he got caught up with some bad people-- the missing money from the law office is why. Why would he need to steal that money and where did it go? He was wealthy so no need to steal it for himself unless he did something with his own money. People in Hampton county are afraid of this family so they're afraid to talk about what they may know.

I think the boys (one or both) were involved in Stephen Smith's murder. Gloria Satterfield's death was not an accident either. The family knows what happened to her. I think she may have overheard or saw something she wasn't supposed to. Supposedly the Murdaugh's homeowners insurance settled the claim with the Satterfield family for $500,000 but I heard last night that claim was never finalized or paid. The younger son was driving the boat at the time of the accident for sure. The Murdaugh family was trying to pin it on one of the other boys.

As far as the mother and son's murders I'm not sure yet. The father is involved somehow. Either he set it up or someone he ticked off did it as retribution. There isn't enough information out there yet. The fact that the mother and son were shot with 2 different guns leads to the speculation that there were 2 shooters involved.
