Applied for SW Biz 11/5, previous cards were CIC 9/23/21 and CSP 8/22/20.

Is it too risky to go for SW personal before February? I'd like to get the points and CP by March as I've already booked cash flights.

I tend to be more risk adverse, so I'll probably be the dissenting opinion here. Since your CIC and SW Biz were only about 40 days apart, I fear if you push this app too close together you'll either go pending or declined. Maybe not an issue if you feel comfortable calling recon?

As a DP, here is my frequency with Chase where I ran into an issue and my IHG application went pending. When I called recon, they specifically warned me that I had applied for a lot of credit in a short amount of time. We moved some credit around and I did get approved, but I am very mindful of that call now. I may not have had my CLs reduced, etc at the time, and I am more mindful of that as well now.

Happy New Year, everyone!! We’re heading to wdw on Monday morning for a week. I’m not looking forward to the crowds but super excited to have my whole fam going. It’s been difficult to coordinate fam travel with two girls in college and working. But this trip will be all 4 of my kiddos and my oldest dd’s fiancé :lovestruc They met during the dcp and are getting married in July.
I hope 2022 finds us all enjoying travel again and returning to normalcy. So nice to see so many old friends here

Happy to see you checkin again! Congrats on DDs engagement. Hope you have a great trip, I know how hard it is to coordinate as they get older.

I know we usually recommend 3 months between Chase applications…but Since it’s been almost 2 months and the increased 20k support expires on 1/4…I’d give it a try
Unfortunately no support here. 🙁

The 2-3 month "rule" for Chase applications is more like a guideline for sustainable pacing. As long as your overall risk profile is good, you can accelerate that on occasion.

If it were me and knowing what my CR looks like, I'd do it. Especially if I could cool off for a bit after.

I was thinking my last 2 were biz cards, maybe a personal would slip through. Credit rating is high, no flags. I'm 1/24. I'm going to look over my Chase cards and CLs and see where to cut today. It's only a month but I'm itching for another card. Lol.

ETA Current CL from all Chase cards is right at 50% income. I'm planning to close 1 CIC (I have 2) and reduce CLs on a couple cards, bringing me to 35% of income.

Looking back at 2021, here were our adventures:
-January- Week AirBNB rental in Florida's 30A- hosted a group of 16
- April- Spring Break in Hawaii, Oahu and Maui, group of 6
- June- Cabo foodie and relaxation trip, group of 8
- August- Iceland ***probs favorite trip ever***, just our family of 6 and maybe our last trip as only our nuclear family
- October- 4 nights in Disneyworld with the lils
- November Thanksgiving- 5 nights in Disneyworld, group of 9

We've been very blessed to use a combination of points and cash and to be able to host accomodations for our very large groups. In hindsight, we used A LOT of cash for our trips.

Goal for 2022:
1. Have more trips where flights/accomodations are primarily paid for with points.
2. Earn more UR (maybe)

Here are the adventures on the books for 2022:
- January- Cabo 3 nts, just me and the hubs (points/CP only for flights and Hilton Los Cabos Pedregal)
- March Spring Break- Paris 7 nts, 7 peeps (points only for flights, and AirBNB using PYB)
- April Easter- Grand Cayman 4nts, 8 peeps (points only for flights and accomodations at Kimpton Seafire)
- June -Italy, Tuscany and Rome 10 nts, 10 peeps (looks like mostly cash)
- need to book one more trip to Disneyworld in the fall? before our AP expire and to make use of two CP

Having written that out, I already feel better about my goal to use more points than cash, though there's always those flight taxes/surcharges that add up for our large group, as well as dining and excursions.

Thank you! He’s a great guy. Did the dcp too so loves Disney. His dad is a cc churner tho at a much smaller scale than me but he loves hearing about it. They own DVC and go a couple times a year. And they simply love Lauren already like she’s their daughter. It’s pretty awesome.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I'm just getting back into the points/miles/churning game. Or at least started getting more purposeful/aggressive with it. I appreciate everyone's help. The community here is great.

2021 Travel Highlights
  • Las Vegas x 6 - I'm a Vegas junkie and have family there.
  • Week-long road trip with my Dad
  • Week with my extended family in my hometown
  • Two weeks in Disney - one with extended family, one solo
  • Week-long Caribbean Cruise
  • A handful of long-weekend trips (I love having every other Friday off work)
2022 Plans
  • A month-long road trip - Route 66 from St. Louis to LA, PCH up to San Fran, over to Tahoe/Reno, Rte 50 home to St. Louis.
  • A cruise to Alaska with my mom and dad.
  • A week with my extended family in my hometown
  • Probably another 6 trips to Vegas
  • 3+ Disney trips - probably all solo
The big road trip is consuming most of my planning energy at the moment. Trying to figure out how to best use points and cash to have an amazing trip while minimizing cash spend.

I saw the chatting about the peloton credit ending for the CSR.

Is the $10 cell phone reimbursement on AmEx biz cards ending too? I don't see it listed on my benefits page anymore, but honestly not sure when it was actually posted before.

I feel like such a true hacker now.... just used one of my $200 VGC to pay my water bill, LOL. I had bought $2200 to cover my taxes which are only $1850. So I had $200 to either use or load on my serve (which is a PITA w/ my FDs). My taxes apparently aren't due until 2/14. But I guess since it's the new year, I can go ahead and pay them (since the ex/CPA told me might as well pay in 2022 in case tax laws change). Only issue is, I've read a few places now that Amazon is shutting down the small loads on VGC. So I guess I'll be using them at Target/WM, LOL.

Yes, I think the Food/Phone credits ended 12/31/21. Bummed as that added a TON of value to those cards!

Not sure which type of visa it is, just has a dog and cat on the package which I think is cute so I pick that one at the grocery store. I had 33 and change left on it so I wanted to get a dis gc from target like I've done with other prepaid visas before but it kept telling me to check/retenter the card info and I couldn't get it to go through for the 25 yesterday. No idea if this was a new thing or what the issue was but I was able to reload all of it on amazon which I realize isn't the small amount you meant but the target part threw me so I thought I'd mention it.

Once these are below 39, what I pay at the chiropractor every 2 weeks, I have to use them somewhere. The last ones I drained at costco. Have a bit before I get there on my next one so we'll see what happens with it.

I feel like I need to recap... between my work computer randomly not working great with the dis in mid 2020, and 2020/2021 not being the most exciting travel years I've not been posting much. Most of our 2021 travel was to Uni with APs since it was easy. Did our Winchester Mystery House day trip and I went home 4 times :rotfl: which was great after not visiting and I'm at a point where I do really miss the area. I switched jobs in 2020 so I no longer work every dang weekend! We used some of the points cashout options to do home projects in 2021 - did I mention we bought a house at the end of 2020?

Early 2022 plans so far: I'm hoping to get in a weekend trip somewhere for me and Zack, another trip back home, and more house projects for this...

Checking in to the new thread and wishing everyone a happy new year. Let's hope the pandemic ends this year... finally.
Please, let this be over soon. All our holiday plans went out the window when 4/6 of us were positive. It was the first Christmas without my dad so not being able to get together with my mom as planned really hurt. We ended up having to cancel our Fort Wilderness New Year's trip which is my favorite trip every year. Very bummed about this year end.

Here's to a great 2022!

Southwest tip:

If you might have Southwest Travel funds expiring, remember you can email their customer service after they've expired and ask that they issue LUV vouchers. They will keep $100 (if I recall) but issue you LUV vouchers for the difference. What is great about LUV vouchers is that they aren't tied to a particular person (even if it seems as if they are). They don't get linked to a person until you use it and then after that they are tied as a travel fund to that person.

AND, I just saw this on r/awardtravel so thought it was worth a mention. If you have expiring Southwest travel funds and a trip booked, you can use those funds to upgrade to to a higher class, like Business Select. Of course, this assumes you booked it in cash, rather than points, and you are fine with burning the travel funds.

Curious where they're talking about the small loads on Amazon. I use that a lot each month to do debit transactions on accounts that I need to make so many of to get the high interest. I typically do about 25 or so a month. I'd hate if it ends. I will say, each month, I get a little nervous about it for some reason though. I'm sure it looks kind of fishy!

Bummer about the phone credits, but I figured that might be the case when I couldn't find it on my account benefits anywhere.

The cell phone credit on the biz plat is still going since it's a card benefit.

The cell phone and dining credits that were under Amex Offers has ended.

For Dell, I am trying to split the payment to send a laptop to my SIL but I keep getting an error when adding another payment. Can you split payment when sending to a different address?

1) First off, we are going to want you to list ALL credit cards you were approved for in the last 24 months.

12/19- Delta Gold AMEX $95 Fee
12/20- HH AMEX Free
1/21- HH Amex $95 Fee

2) Secondly we'll want to know a little bit about you. Specifically - what you spend, and what you want to earn!
  • What amount of spend would you put on a card monthly (i.e. groceries, gas, insurance, cable, cell phone, other expenses)? Most likely around $1000 a Month or Less. Debt Free Household DW doesn't like anything on the Card.
  • Do you currently payoff your CCs in full every month or do you carry any balances/pay any interest? Pay off Full most month.
  • What airport(s) do you typically fly out of? CLE, CAK, CMH, CVG Never out of PIT, but about 2 hours from house.
  • Do you have a preference of Frequent Flyer program? No I am interested in the best one, Most likely SW, but Family of 6.
  • Does SOUTHWEST Airline service your airport? YES CLE and CMH
  • Do you have a Hotel Rewards program preference? Hilton Honors Diamond Member
  • Do you currently have travel points or miles in any program? (if so, which programs and how much) We have 200K points to Hilton, Also have $1200 in credit to DELTA.
  • What at your specific goals for churning credit cards? (i.e. Disney World Trip, Cruise, European Trip, Cash Back to pay-off a mortgage or student loans, etc. - you can have multiple goals too!) I want to find the best way to accrue points for our family to be able to fly to MCO vs Driving. Looking at buying DVC Resale as well.
  • When do you plan to take these trips? (Keep in mind that it can be difficult to earn points/miles to cover imminent travel...it's best to plan far in advance, especially with regards to international travel) Goal is to travel 2023.
  • Who does your travel party consist of? (Spouse, Kids (& ages), other relatives/friends) Wife 2 Daughters (7,2) 2 Sons (6, 4 Months) Most likely going to include Grandparents as well.
