Dh and I are needing a new card. It’s been awhile since we’ve needed any kind of advice. We’re deciding between either a CIC/CIU or a Venture X. What do you guys think? It will be for me. I just got under 5/24 a few days ago. Most of our spend is Amazon and target along with the usual bills.

Does anyone have DPs on if the Hilton Aspire resort credit resets on the date of original approval, statement close, or 1st of next month?
- I originally got the Aspire early 11/2019 (I didn't keep really good notes, but it was around the 2nd-7th of the month).
- I downgraded the card mid-Dec 2020 b/c of no travel
- Then upgraded back to Aspire mid-Dec 2021.

Trying to make our holiday plans now and thinking if it resets in early Nov, I'll try to use it over Thanksgiving. If it resets mid-Dec, I'll hold off and use it over Christmas/New Year.

Anniversary date is when it resets. They can confirm via chat

I was going to book a hotel in Hawaii but those have already increased to over 100,000 points per night :'( (The Westin Maui Resort and spa Kaanapali).

ETA: It looks like I could book the Ocean Tower room for 60K but I was hoping for one of the upgraded rooms.

September 2021 I booked the ocean tower at the Westin Maui for my son and dil. They got upgraded to the Hokupa'a on arrival. They were on their honeymoon and I did make a few calls to both the hotel and marriott.

They really liked the room and the lanai access as well as an ocean view.

Yes. You can also follow up with a call to the hotel adding her name to the reservation, so that she won't have any issue checking in.

Which proctored rapid COVID tests are people using for returning to the US? We have the opportunity to go to Vienna next week (!!!) to visit dd who is studying there this semester, and I'm trying to figure out the smaller details (have flights, hotel figured out). How quickly have you received them in the mail?

We would have the opportunity for free regular tests in Vienna with a (usually less than) 24 hour turn around or having rapid tests done at the airport. I think I'd rather take a rapid test while still at the hotel, just for peace of mind.

Did you attain a lifetime status level? I made Diamond through head in bed nights and haven't gotten anything like that.

Out of those choices seems like the CIC would be the one to go for as it won't put you back at 5/24 straightaway. You can always pick up Amazon or Target giftcards at Staples to get your 5xURs on that spend too. Of course this assumes that the $7.5k MSR will not be a problem.

That still leaves the door open for the VenX at a later date.

I have no idea honestly. I know we have almost 2 million points. And he stays like 3 nights a week in a hilton for work, so maybe. I had to look it up bc I'd never heard of the brand Tumi. That bag is like $500

so i just got hit with the AF from the Marriot card, depending on tonight's big announcement I may actually close a card, there are rumors on flyer talk that some rooms will exceed 200k points a night (Maldives and aspirational properties ) I'm just hoping this doesn't lead the way for Hyatt to devalue then ill 100% become a free agent.

SO I went to check my flight prices for mid-late May..... with this "sale" the cost is 5k points higher than what I booked last week! (which is 6k higher than what I booked last year) SWA is not what it used to be..... thanks for the heads up anyway so I could check tho

My gift card fiasco from 3 weeks ago is finally being resolved. I've been calling Office Depot a bunch. If you don't remember, I tried to buy a Fuel Everywhere card and put $200 on it when it was $100 max. One card it immediately refunded. The other it didn't and the card isn't activated. OD finally decided they'll just give me the cash for the card. So I guess I still get my 5x points on the card and I get the cash w/o having to load on Serve, LOL.

It sucks that it's Spring Break and my FB is filled with everyone in the warm/sunshine/beach. And here my phone is blowing up w/ winter weather advisory alerts. UGH. I feel bad for the kids too as they didn't get FL and Mexico last month like me. They luckily understand it was just way too much $$$$ for me to pull something off this year.
