My bracket is 7 out of 8 so far. I had Denmark instead of Australia getting out second. The 2:00 games were fantastic. I don't really have a rooting interest in either but it was nice to see our biggest rivals out. At one point the tie breaker went all the way down to discipline until the Saudis scored.

To the question of popularity Soccer is much more popular here than it was even 5 years ago. It isn't in your face popular like football or basketballl but in just about ever city of size you can find supporters bars and clubs for the bigger teams. I think having games on network television would help but the real possibility to increase viewership isn't really MLS at the moment. We need to have more promotion of the Gold Cup. I think US viewers not already into soccer would find it easier to get behind the national team and then maybe bleed into the leagues as opposed to the other way around.

The national team is going to face a challenge next year. HBO max gets the tv deal until 2032. Only some of the matches will be on TNT/TBS. Univision has the rights as well but that’s in Spanish so that may turn off fans who are new to the sport. Fox still has tv rights for the 2023 Gold Cup and CBS/paramount plus has the rights to the Nations League games. Streaming only options are not helping. We need to at least broadcast USA matches on the radio as a free option for those who can’t afford to stream. Why can every other country in the world do this on a national station and the USA can’t?

Did we just witness the worst performance by a number 9 in World Cup Finals history? I can't believe Lukaku didn't score. I guess Chelsea Lukaku showed up instead of Inter Milan Lukaku.

Morocco tops the group and Belgium is out. 😲

FS1 is debating whether the Japanese second goal should have counted. If it didn’t, the Germans would be in the R16. German media is not happy right now, I’m sure.
One angle looks like it's completely out, and one looks like there's a shadow of the ball on the line.
