Hiding ducks on the cruise?

I'd be surprised if DCL allows this. I know you can't hide things (like geocaching or painted rocks) in the theme parks.

If found, such items are often trashed or destroyed.

Different on cruise ships and it does happen, people do find them, and haven't heard of them getting trashed.

Everything creates waste. You buy a candy bar the wrapper is waste, drink a soft drink now you have a plastic bottle or can as waste oh and go on a cruise and look at all that waste.
Not really. One candy wrapper is a much smaller mass of trash when you melt it down than 20 plastic ducks. DCL soft drinks come in recyclable cans (at the theater) or compostable paper (drink station). Disney has done a pretty decent job minimizing plastic waste on the ship.

I dunno, I’d be interested to know the percentage found and enjoyed by guests versus found by the crew and trashed. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the one we found on our last cruise was on the floor under my seat at the theater on the second show if the night. We did not take it home, and I’d be willing to bet it got swept up with the popcorn at the end of the night.

Most are not on the floor under a seat in the theatre though. Most are likely found and enjoyed. DCL just doesnt have a ton of people hiding ducks on the ship.

Sorry, I don't see the point. They do it with Jeeps too which I also don't get.
I own a Jeep. They do it as a kind of mark of appreciation. Jeeps are super customizable, and "duck-rated" (they do well in mud and water). There's a whole Jeep culture that I'm still learning since I bought mine in May.

Yup. I've had my JKU since I bought it new in 2009. I still think the duck thing is unnecessary.

I never understood the hiding of Ducks, seeing it I would find it tacky, hopefully they are really hidden IMO

Weirdest comment on hiding ducks.

I suspect you love the people dressed up as imaginary characters though or pirates night or fish extenders or ... ? Plenty of things are "tacky" but its meant to be just a fun little thing for people to find around the ship. Not much different from hidden mickeys except this is ever changing with a wide variety of potential ducks hidden.

I enjoy Characters yeah fish extender were good once or twice, but now boring. Rubber ducks look tacky to me. Again just my opinion. We all have our pet peeves. I’m sure someone wouldn’t like me doing something either. Not saying don’t hide them, just saying I hope they are out of sight 🤣

We just came off the Wish yesterday (1/30/23) and while my son spent much time searching high and low for ducks, he found only one and had one pixie dusted to him at our door from someone who knew it was his birthday cruise. So for those thinking there are ducks littered everywhere in plain view all over the ships... no, they're hidden in plain sight and found pretty quickly. It's just a fun little game and it's certainly not hurting anyone.

Was on the Magic a couple weeks ago and noticed a few ducks. Was talking to the bartenders and they are treating it like a competition on who can find the most by the end of their contract. They display their collection in their stateroom for bragging rights. So there, it's even fun for the cast members.

Or the CMs are doing it to keep the public areas clear.
