Tron AP preview thread

Genuinely just wondering why not wait until after April 4 when you know the ride will be open? Is there something special about the AP previews? (We've never done one before.)

We already have trips planned in March and April, but they weren't planned because of Tron. Unfortunately our kids don't have APs but DH and I do so we'll try for the AP preview if it happens to align with spring break. Otherwise we'll just wait til April.
Personally I really don't care much about a single ride preview. I didn't even try for Remy or Guardians, and not really worried about Tron. We are out of state so if I'm going to travel and spend the money, I want more than one ride. If I were local, then yes I would be wanting it.

We LOVED going to the Pandora and Galaxy Edge previews, it was so intimate and enjoyable vs what they are now. We had the Toy Story booked but ended up cancelling trip, I wish we had gone. If a full land is opening, then yes I will be super focused on going.

In past preview threads, what type of posts did you appreciate the most when sign ups opened?

For me, I appreciated posts that had a link posted that worked for the person. For GotG, the link I saved didn’t work and someone posted another link and that one worked for me. So that post was very helpful!

Following past timelines, this next week meets up perfectly with lots of past timelines. I would check regularly every day for an email and the link posted in post 1.

I would love those too, but I think people would be too worried to copy and paste a link on their computer, risking losing their spot if they left the tab.

I think I remember getting in on a freshly posted link also. So maybe people had multiple devices going or had already gotten their spot. I don't remember the specifics.

I’m thinking (hoping) they won’t do it on Tuesday because that morning is a runDisney registration day.

I had the same thing happen. Refreshed til I was dizzy, but it took clicking the new link to get into the queue

At Disney tomorrow for 9 days, I see reviews from folks but it’s special invite only ? I can’t seem to find accurate info

You need to click on the link each time - not refresh it. As when you click on it - if not live, it redirects to a different page for a past event.

Maybe a little shorter wait with the previews.

No dealing with hoping you can get a VQ.

An excuse to go to Disney?

Negative is it's going to be March and Spring Break and crowds in general will likly be high, as will resort costs.

The shorter wait makes sense.

But then aren't people hoping the AP previews line up with a March trip if they book their resort (and plane tickets etc) now? And hoping they're able to secure a preview spot? At least with VQ from April 4 on you could make MK reservations for multiple days and ride each day.

Although idk what resort prices are doing April 13-16 since that's Springtime Surprise. Maybe they're just as bad in April as they are in March 🤷🏻‍♀️

In short, the yeti.

If you didn't see EE when it was new, then you probably have not seen the yeti as the Imagineers meant it to function.

Going during a preview often = a short(er) wait for a ride that - usually- is typically in high demand for years once it officially opens.

It is always fun to ride a new attraction!

It is also fun because it is new for everyone else. That has a big impact on many attractions, because nobody knows what will happen next.

Getting to explore GE was neat because everyone was clearly excited, most wore Star Wars gear. Some folks wore creative costumes, but most folks at least wore a SW shirt if they owned one. That's doesn't happen now. Some wear SW, but not 95%.

Over time, rides tend to get altered in all sorts of ways. It is fun to see them in their original form and witness that evolution.

Agreed. The previews are just special. Less crowds, everyone super hyped about the new ride/land. Pandora preview was amazing and probably my favorite one. Got to ride FOP 3 times in a row as a walkon. That could never happen now with the crowds. Didn't get preview for ROTR but happened to be in HS the first week it opened. The immersion and acting of the first order officers was much better when it first opened then it is now. It's not bad now, but it was a different experience then.

Following for the AP registration link. I remember for GoTG, the link leaked in the thread ahead of time, and I was able to secure a reservation because of that.

Maybe that will happen again.

I did get to go on TRON twice today (dating a Cast Member). I honestly won’t be too disappointed if I don’t get an AP preview. The attraction is OK, but incredibly short. The bit you see outside is the most exciting. Once the ride vehicle enters the building, you go through a few turns and dips, it slows down, and then promptly ends. We were both expecting a second launch (like halfway through GoTG), but it never happens, and is somewhat disappointing.

The interior of the queue is gorgeous though, and quite the sight. It really does scream “Future World” with the bright blue LED lights and overall theme.

Good luck to everyone securing a reservation!

That’s awesome that you rode it. Other than being disappointingly short, how would you say it compares to GOTG? I am not a coaster fan (some of that is nervousness due to a back operation 15 years ago) but I love Guardians. That might be about my limit! Love FOP, hate TOT for frames of reference!

Thanks!

Guardians is much more intense, in my opinion. Tron didn’t feel like a coaster to me. It felt more like a test drive on a motorcycle. Once you get past the initial launch, it slows down dramatically indoors.
