I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

I made a marriott hotel reservation using my Chase UR points. It asked me for my marriott reward number which was new to me. Anyway, now I see the reservation in my Marriott App which I have never seen before. Under "payment' info it has the last 4 digits of a MC that I do not own. Has anyone else noticed this?
The payment card is the payment of the 3rd party that actually paid marriott for the stay. Please report back if you get Bonvoy points for the stay, that would be a completely new thing.

Dd's boyfriend is currently in Tuscany with his parents and younger sister, who is doing her first college semester there. They flew SFO --> FRA (Lufthansa cancelled their onward flight to Florence, so they got on a flight to Rome and took the train from there, total pain). Three of their bags got lost (they landed 3 days ago). Lufthansa found 2 of them and they flat-out refused to transport the bags to their AirBnB in Tuscany, so they had to drive to Rome and pick them up. Her boyfriend's bag is lost and Lufthansa has no clue where it is. So I guess just a reminder to use Air Tags or carry-on only. I am fully committed to taking carry-on only on my upcoming trip, esp after she told me this.

Could someone please remind me if I should pick "dining" or "travel" for dining at MCO and at WDW using Bank of America's cash rewards card categories. It states Travel for both amusement parks and airports. But I seem to recall that at least the airport vendors coded to where you'd want dining.

now I'm worried b/c (it's been quite a month) I can't recall which offer I signed up on- its either the 3k/130k offer or the 4k/150k offer.....argh!!!! I'm just short of the 4k spend so I think I'll pay some electric bill to be sure

One time, I wasn't sure which offer I applied for, so I chatted with AmEx and told them that I had signed up for an offer and wondered how close I was to reaching it and how much longer I had to complete it. It was pretty quick and easy.

I saw this last month when I booked thru Chase but entered my Bonvoy number. Shows up in the app and your trips but no points and I did not get credit for a night For total nights in a year.

I was very excited to find that Air France was starting direct flights to Paris from my airport (RDU). That would mean not having to reposition to JFK or elsewhere for crossing the Atlantic in J seats booked with points! They start Oct 30 but I can't see any availability with miles for any day. The route is there for cash bookings but disappears when I choose miles, same for the FlyingBlue agents on the phone. What gives? Anyone have any input? I'm hoping that the ability to book with miles will be activated at some point, though it may be too late to change my Nov 10 flight to Paris.

Circling back to this route.

I've been playing around with various carriers/websites/alliances. Today I was able to find award seats on the AF flights, but via Virgin Atlantic website. I was looking at RDU to FCO (after seeing someone post a 'success story' on Reddit) and noticed they connected thru CDG.

So for the RDU-CDG-FCO one way (I searched an April Sunday), this is what I get:

Then just to be curious, I did the same date but just RDU-CDG:

I did these for 1 passenger but then went back and searched for 2 and they also came up.

I went to flying blue again and the direct does not show under search with points.

EDIT! Just realized you had your travel date in your post, so I ran another search and it showed no Biz Class availability. They did show economy for only 12k points!

Alright, we are flying economy to and from South Africa, looking at 16 + 9 hour flight there and 10 + 14 hour flight back.
We've done the shorter 10 hour flights in economy, I'm worried about the 16 & 14 hour flights. Any tips for those long flights?

Yeah... that would have been too good to be true. Did you get any status perqs? Assuming you have status.

All the food places I’ve used at MCO code as dining. At WDW using your card in the restaurant codes as dining as well…this is on my Chase Sapphire Reserve card…not sure if BOA is different though

We're definitely not as experienced as most on this thread, but we flew economy to Australia and our flights were around 14 and 15 hours each way after we flew to Houston.

We were on a Dreamliner 787 which has nine seats across the plane. Three each on the right and left side of the plane and three in the middle. We chose the two outside seats in the middle section. Our flights weren't even close to sold out, so we basically had the whole middle section to ourselves and we both had aisle seats so we didn't have to disturb anyone to get up and stretch or go to the bathroom.

DH watched a ton of movies and I was able to get little catnaps on and off throughout the time. I would definitely do it again for the opportunity to be able to go again!!

My only advice is to upgrade 😂 We flew in economy to Japan in May, 14 hours there. It was awful, it was an old plane, we could not sleep, economy was PACKED, no free seats anywhere. And we had a block of just 2 seats at the back side, instead of the 3 seats, which I thought would be better, but no. For our flight back, which was 12 hours on the Dreamliner, we upgraded to Priority Plus (paid $300 each) and it was worth every penny. I will never fly that long of a flight in economy again if I can help it, lol.

I've been looking and there isn't anything good available, not without us splitting up and I don't want to do that.

Some airlines give the option to upgrade with cash for flights booked on points (I know that AC does, not sure who else). I'd search around and see if you can find a way to upgrade, if at all possible. I am almost 6' tall and there is no chance that I'd survive that long in economy class. Having said that, there is a nice hotel attached to the airport in Jo'burg and if that's where you're flying into, then I'd think about booking a room there for the day you arrive so that you can have a shower and sleep for a while before continuing on with your journey.

Yes, exactly what we did... booked on points and upgraded with cash, on United.

We were on a (Lufthansa) Dreamliner from Frankfurt this summer...I called it the Nightmare flight. NO room to wiggle if the person in front puts their seat back. The lady next to me tried putting her seat back and the lady behind her put her legs up to block it! A flight attendant was summoned and the lady behind was told that the lady in front had every right to put her seat back and to deal with it. Not a pleasant flight! I would NOT recommend a Dreamliner if you're in economy.

It's been almost 6 weeks since my last Ink card, so you know that means I need a new one LOL.
P2 has had 5 inks since Sept 2021. I am thinking we are probably pushing our luck and should dial it back a bit?
I don't want a big AF card, so I am struggling here. I see some no AF Cap One Biz cards. Any thoughts on those with a "business"? I know they report to personal reports, and I am 4/24 till November. p2 is 3/24.
We have been in Amex popup jail for years, not sure if there is any Amex biz out there, that looks great for us right now.
My insurance went way up, so I have a spend enough to meet a lot of MSR's coming up in a couple of weeks.

I am lowly gold status And didn’t get any welcome points. the Front desk said I see your membership attached but you won’t get any points for this stay.

Thanks. I can't remember from last year for BOA but my guess is coding will mostly be dining, depending on the vendor, rather than travel, despite the BOA rewards description including amusement parks and airports.

Is there some sort of benefit by linking my BOA dining rewards credit card to my MB at check in, then charging with my MB and then paying off the balance before check out with Disney gift cards? I just wonder if you collect my 5.25% reward rather than if I directly use Disney gift cards or if I'm over thinking that.

Anyone use Treasury Direct (the government's website for bonds, treasuries, etc.) as a direct deposit to trigger the Chase checking bonus? DoC says you can and I thought I'd give it a try since I already have an account with money in it. When I go to link the new Chase checking account it says the account cannot be verified. Could it be because there isn't any money in the new checking account yet?

Changing my direct deposit through work is too much of a hassle, so I thought I'd try something else.

Anyone else trigger the bonus through something besides a direct deposit from employer or pension?

Thanks!

There was a shooting today at the university where I teach and work (UNC Chapel Hill) and a faculty member was killed. It was about two buildings away from the building that houses the institute I work for. We were sheltered in place for 3 hours before we could leave.

How often do Aeroplan transfer bonuses come about? We used to joke that we might move to Canada but DH and I are getting more serious now. I'm thinking we can take some weekends here and there to scout out places we might want to live in.
