I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Quick trip from our weekend trip to Disney. We spent 2 nights at the Waldorf Astoria using 2 FNC (me & DH from 2 SUBs). We arrived at 4PM on Saturday and our room wasn’t ready. So we headed to the pool restaurant for some appetizers to use the $50 F&B credit ($62 with tip). Lots of families waiting for rooms. Not happy with the room delays since we missed the 5:35 shuttle to Disney Springs, we had to take an Lyft ($10). Room finally ready at 6PM, we had just gotten our bags from bell check to change in the public restrooms when I got the alert that our room was ready. Disney Springs was so busy (Saturday night), we did a little shopping, dinner and did a little more shopping. We missed the 9:20 shuttle back to WA so another Lyft, next shuttle wasn’t until 11PM.
The next morning we checked out and back in before walked over to Signia to use the pool, had lunch and some drinks ($105 w/tip).

We took the 3:05 shuttle for the Christmas party. Arrived at MK via ferry boat at 3:40 and I think we were in by 4:15. The park wasn’t busy at all, we were having a good time when a big storm moved in around 5PM. We had a great time at the party, I think it was pouring rain until 7:30. We got lots of cookies, rode all the rides we wanted (no characters pics), saw the first parade and the fireworks, even rode Tron for the first time. It was a successful trip. DH ended up not going to the party, he came down with a fever and just couldn’t get out of bed when we got back from the pool (he was feeling sick since the morning). At 9:20PM, I went to Guest Services and they gave us a Disney GC for the value of the party ticket.
After the party we walked to the Contemporary to catch a Lyft back the our hotel.
Thanks @IFlossU for all the tips, specially about checking our bill before leaving, they didn’t apply the F&B credit to our second night, so I’m glad we got that fixed before leaving this morning. With the F&B credit and DH $50 Surpass quarterly credit, we only spent $20.

Both area good ideas. We tend to fly AF to Europe and BA back because it just seems to work out that way. The train from Paris to London is quick and quite nice. You can also take the Eurostar from AMS to London.

I need a little input for our 2025 Europe trip. Our initial plan was to fly Orlando to London booking BA through Cathay Pacific to avoid the insane taxes and fees. Now it’s looking like that may not be an option because they are showing no availability anymore. So the only way we could fly biz from Orlando would be paying the taxes and fees with BA. Dh said he would be willing to do it on the way back but not both ways.

Our other options would be driving 2 1/2 hours to Miami. We could either fly Air France to Paris then train to London or fly KLM to Amsterdam and just do Amsterdam and maybe Belgium. We’re leaning towards flying to Paris. Any suggestions?

If you have a choice - almost always better to fly in to London and out of Paris/Amsterdam/Brussels etc. taxes and fees usually much higher leaving the UK than inbound.

You can even route though London on the return and as long as your connection is less than 12 hours, I think , then you won't have to pay the additional tax (Air Passenger Duty). For example, returning from Cape Verde recently I had the option of flying into the UK and getting a (sadly economy) last minute BA award flight LHR - BOS - taxes/fees ~$300. Instead I opted to fly into Brussels and took BA award BRU-LHR-BOS - taxes/fees only $100 and a negligible amount more miles. The savings likely even greater if flying a premium class.

I need to get my son plane tickets for spring break. My plans are a bit in flux for a variety of reasons but I'm probably going to drive down and fly both kids in (his break is a week before my daughter's but they will overlap for a few days). He needs to fly out of Lexington so Allegiant seems to be my best bet to get a non-stop. I can fly him into Punta Gorda. I'll probably fly him out of Tampa because the Tampa flight is on Sunday and the Punta Gorda flight is the day before and he's not going to want to leave on Saturday. Anyone flown Allegiant? My ex will throw a fit, but I'm paying for the ticket and we haven't spoken in four months so I really don't care!

We fly allegiant every year. It’s the only airline that flies nonstop for us to see family in Iowa. We’ve never had any real problems with them. We go into it with the mindset that they’re more of a budget airline. You don’t get complimentary snacks or drinks, no tv screens on the seats, and the seats are pretty uncomfortable. But it’s worth the nonstop flight vs a layover in our opinion

I've been traveling for the last week (Zion/Bryce/LV) so this is a late reply.

Just keep in mind that most routes only go on certain days or only have 1 flight. I used to take Allegiant direct RDU-MSY and then drive to BR to visit my mom, but I got stranded in New Orleans one day when a mechanical issue kept the plane from arriving. It was going to be over 24 hours until the next flight would be available. I know this happens occasionally on any airline, but this wasn't weather it was equipment scarcity. I ended up booking a SW flight home via ATL and Allegiant did give us a $100 voucher for travel (that my DH used to visit his Dad in Punta Gorda). We haven't used Allegiant in years, so perhaps their schedules are more robust now. Long story short, I wouldn't use them unless my travel schedule was not important.

The taxes and fees are actually higher flying into London instead of out. It’s about $1000 pp coming into London but flying home it’s $600 pp. So we would want to fly home from London instead

Wow - I've flown between US and London many, many times and since the UK introduced Air Passenger Duty, I don't think I've ever seen taxes/fees be higher into London than out.

I’ll have to double check because dh has been the one looking at flights but his spreadsheet shows booking through BA that it’s $900 there and $600 back. Booking through Cathay Pacific it’s the opposite ($200 there and $490 back)

For those that had issues with the gc you bought from Amazon, how did you contact them?

Bought a physical Amazon gc on 12/2 and finally went to redeem it today, was out of town over the weekend and busy last week. And it's been drained.

It looked fine when I bought it. Super frustrated but what if it had been a gift. I don't always redeem right away.

I tried chat and they just gave me an email address with zero direction on what to send. When I tried calling it said they are busy and to try chat. I just don't want to wait days foe a response. Especially as I figure they'll tell me to kick rocks so sad too bad. I have little faith in their customer service.

And now the email came back because the attachments are too big. Omg.

They are horrible. I got a nonworking Lyft GC online through Amazon, is the address they gave you escalation-gc? i sent screenshots of the purchase and the screen that said the card was invalid. I got nowhere, non-sensical replies and then they blocked my emails! I have a significant amount of money in my Amazon account so I decided to just eat the $80 loss because I was afraid they would shut down my account if I pursued it.

When I have bought a physical Amazon gift card in the past I always immediately add it to my Amazon account

Capital One shopping support is now $200! Wish I would have waited to have DH sign up. It was $75 2 weeks ago. I added my link on Dischurners for anyone who hasn't signed up yet.
Thanks for this. Trying to get into Dischurners but is only showing me a few things and not loading. Can you message me with your link. Lynn

I supported DS two weeks ago when my support was elevated to $50. His bonus showed up before his purchase was even shipped. When I checked my account, the $50 was there also. A few days later I got an email from CapOne saying I'd earned it. I'm not telling DS that my support is now elevated to $150. I guess we should have waited, but he's happy with $50.
I sure hope mine to DS worked yesterday. Nothing says anything about supports in the links you copy and paste from the app. I don't trust them.
I was going to support DH today, but now it's down to $40

Yup that's the email. I have very little hope. I know Fred's won't help cause they are the middle man. A charge back isn't their fault. I'll try calling at some point if I don't hear any thing or I'll blow up chat or tweet them if you even can. 25 bucks ok but I'm not out here to loose 100 bucks so some scammer can buy stuff. In the mean time my cart will sit unordered.

Already had to call today cause one of my newest/least used dis gc was locked. He couldn't say why, just asked for my name and number and said it'll be unlocked in a day or two. So I'll pay on my trip with it to drain it and be done. All my physical cards come from shop dis.

Is this a physical Amazon card you got from Amazon or somewhere else? If it's from Amazon, could it be that it wasn't activated?

Edit: I see that it's from Freds. I'm not sure whether a chargeback would work but I probably would try it.

I have the activation receipt. It says it's been redeemed by another account when I try to do it.

Used my Amex gold so at least it wasn't on a biz card and I can try that if nothing with Amazon works.

ETA I'll check with Fred's too before I do a chargeback. But really they need to get money back from Amazon if I get a chargeback. Tech I didn't get what I received. I know we all try and use or add them to accounts as soon as we can but that's not always realistic or something we should have to do. Nor is only buying the gc from Amazon because that doesn't help me with fuel points or any points. It's the same as buying direct.
