I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Some credit cards successes I wanted to share:

- I earned 40k MR by triggering (2) AF/KLM spend $1k, earn 20k offers. It was a bit dicey bc of the "must originate in the US" language, but it did eventually credit.

- With the changes to the Aspire card, I had one Aspire anniversary on 12/22, meaning I had 8 days to "extra dip" for the $250 resort credit before the anniversary year credit became a calendar year credit on January 1. I have a January Hilton resort stay coming up and was able to apply a $250 deposit. It did indeed credit, so yay $250!!

- Thanks @wanderlust7 as my $50 Aspire Q4 airline credit posted.

- I have an IHG FNC that was expiring 2 days before our needed date and the Diamond Desk was able to extend it for me. She actually extended it until the end of the year, so an extra 7 months. I sorta paid for elite status for 2024 in hopes of another amazing suite upgrade at the Kimpton Seafire, so I'm going to mentally deduct $200 (the value of the extended FNC) off the crazy amount I paid.

My sweet DH tries to follow along when I tell him about these successes, but I needed to share it with peeps who really get it!

Ugh, flight prices are awful! SW points hit DHs account today so I went to look what I could book for Spring Break. No nonstop WGA fares left except a red eye, cheapest is 55k one way. 😳 Cash price for a round trip with 1 am arrival in MCO and a flight with a stop on the way back was over $750. Ended up with the 1 am arrival on Friday night on SW from MDW to MCO, used my Hyatt FNC to stay at the Hyatt MCO. On the return flight, used AA miles to ORD, so yes will be flying out of one airport and back to another. That will cost me 2 Lyfts as well. 😩

I am in the exact same boat. I had a trip booked for Spring Break but I was using some dummy dates out of my home airport and then my actual dates completely sold out. So then we wrestled with just not going, but I convinced myself it's fine to fly back into MDW for $51k pp!!!! because we have 2 CP. 2 years ago we paid 30k RT!!! What really stinks is I coulda booked into my home airport originally for about the 51k I'm paying to fly into MDW. Now I too am flying out of one airport and back into another. And yet I'm super happy to be going, so I'm just going to gloss over those "minor" details. At least that Anytime fare comes with EBCI!!!

Has anyone here been to Acadia National Park? We are thinking about going in October and I would love some reviews of hotels/B&Bs, etc.

Thanks
Been several times. There's a Hampton Inn right there we stay at. We do love to visit Bar Harbor but don't stay. If you like lobster, Trenton Lobster Pound in nearby and great. They boil in seaweed and salt water.

The prices are crazy! I don't have a CP yet so had to book DS's ticket too. I have enough charges on DH SW personal to meet spend right now. Fingers crossed everything posts by first closing date which will be in the next few days.

Also booking a summer trip. This year is our 35th anniversary, so I kind of wanted something a little special. Despite having 5-50k Marriott FNC, I couldn't find anything remotely 'fancy' so we'll be staying at a Residence Inn in San Diego. We honeymooned in SD and haven't been back since so it should be fun to see.

where's the hampton? We stayed at an IHG (affiliated?) hotel right outside the town last time and loved it (great water views) but I'm not sure it still exists (bought by another company maybe?) I LOVE Acadia and surrounding areas, the hikes, the restaurants, the beauty of the location...

ooohhh We have a one day layover in San Fransisco next summer....like arrive around 1 p.m, leav the next morning around 8.... so is there anything we can see that's 'easy' from the airport area? We have hotel next door to airport, never been here so wondering

I’d like to know this too. We’ll be in San Francisco before flying to Japan the next day. We land pretty early in the morning and have a full day then staying the night at the hotel right there at the airport

We’re planning to fly business with BA to England in 2025 but I keep reading bad reviews lately about BA. We’ve never flown with them before. Does anyone have any experience flying biz with them recently?

I met my Citi AA Biz SUB in November a couple of days before the statement closed. That statement shows they the SUB was earned, but it didn't appear on my AA account (only the miles from the spend appeared). I thought maybe I had to wait for the December statement to close but still nothing. AAdvantage reps say that it can take "up to 8 weeks" and it's only been 6, but I'm getting worried since they already showed on the statement and this didn't happen with our previous Citi AA cards (though this is the first Biz card). Anyone have any experience they could share? Do I just need to be more patient?

I was reading this past week on Reddit that AA has changed their business card platform, which is causing issues for some people getting their miles posted to their accounts. I recently applied for a Citi AA Biz card as well and had no idea I now have separate business and personal AA accounts. I was able to go into my AA account and move the miles earned from my business account to my personal account easily enough, but had no clue this was even necessary. Maybe you already know this, and I’m just way behind on this information. Have you already logged into your AA account, and moved your miles to your personal account?

SFO is about an hour train ride (and costs around $12 or so, one way, if I remember correctly) into all the touristy areas - Fisherman’s wharf, Embarcadero, Russian Hill, Chinatown, Golden Gate, etc. With that said, SFO is a pretty small city in my opinion, and is very easy to get around via trolley, cable car, trains, so you can see a lot in a day.

Just approved for Citi AA Biz card today. Past cards have always posted to my one AA account. How did you find out you had two accounts? Does it just show up on the AA site when you log in?

Yes, I learned about this one of the times I called AA. But when I log into the Biz account, the only miles there are for the spend, not the SUB. They just tell me to keep waiting. Most of them at least; I did have one rep who said they had never experienced this before (where the miles appear on the statement but not the account) and he submitted a ticket. Nothing seems to have come out of that, though, as I never heard back from anyone.

Go to aadvantagebusiness.aa.com
That's where miles earned from your Biz card will post. Same login info as personal account, but now you have this extra step of needing to move them to your personal. Though you could keep them separated if you wanted to use them for actual business travel (I assume that's the reason for the change).

Alternately I just log in from AA.com, and when I click on my name in the upper right side of the page it has a button to click for either my personal or business accounts.

@Duckbug.Ducktales apparently there are many people reporting the same issue with bonus miles not posting. Doesn’t make it any better, but you’re not alone. I imagine I’ll be in the same situation soon enough. Incredibly frustrating.

Oh, right! I found that out the other day and had forgotten.

Anyway, yes, frustrating. I'm not in a hurry to get the miles but I just worry that it'll be a headache of talking to several reps, getting different answers, and only some understand what I'm talking about, etc, lol

All of the recent emails we received to app for Chase Ink are all for the CIU not the CIC. Does anyone know if the link also works for the CIC for the same 90K SUB?
I believe CIC has been hanging at 75k for a while with the CIU up higher.

That said, between not paying the AF and getting 5x at office supply, you can do better with the 6k CIC speed than the 8k CIU spend it you're targeting fee free GCs at staples.

Thank you for posting this! I’m also still waiting for my SUB miles to post.

Got the card 11/28/23. Met MSR 12/10/23. Statement cut 12/28/23 and shows 81k miles earned (6k spend plus 75k SUB). Nothing had posted to my AA account. I just went to the business page you linked and found the 6k spend miles and transferred them to my personal account, but no 75k SUB miles. I haven’t paid the statement yet so hoping they will show up after I do? I’ll definitely be following this discussion closely until they show up.

Have you considered a Disney hotel? I need to book two nights for May and am leaning toward miracosta because it looks like it won’t be much more than the Hilton. But that will be out of pocket.

We are going in August (bad time, I know, but that's what works). I'm planning to see if I can get one of the Disney hotels but I'm expecting either that they will be sold out or so expensive as to not be worth it. How expensive that would be, I'm still considering. We likely will have only two days for the parks, so I don't see anyone wanting to spend time at the hotel except to sleep and shower. In the meantime I'm going to book the Hilton.

Gold gets you breakfast for 2.

I took a look at the flexible calendar and it's all premium awards, which is kind of crazy. Hopefully they'll eventually release standard awards!
Oh wow I didn't think to check the award calendar (I am so rusty at trip planning). I will check back every week or so to see if the points rates are better. But not at all sad about missing breakfast for 2.
We ended up booking our Hilton room through the Chase portal with our CSR for our trip in May. Cash price would’ve been $2160 but we used 144,093 URs. We booked a family magic room with ocean view.
Excellent!
I hope to book Miracosta but mostly because I just really want to stay there in a park-view room!

The rest of my time in Tokyo will be at one of the Hyatts but not sure which one. Probably will end up with Grand Hyatt
Park view would be cool but with only two days for the parks, I don't think we will spend much time in the room. When are you going?
