I make a lot of sandwiches around here, and I’ve been a sandwich eater my whole life. Even on vacations, we stop at the grocery store and buy bread, peanut butter and some lunch meat. They are quick to make and easily portable when on the go. i always cut my/our sandwiches in half, but many people don’t. So I ask you…..

What do you do with your sandwich?
Do you cut it in half or no?
If you do cut it - do cut diagonally or right down the center?

For Me…..I cut my sandwich diagonally only. My mom always cut my sandwich down the middle, but when I started making my own sandwiches, I went diagonal and never went back - LOL!

I always cut my sandwiches and I always cut diagonally. I used to wonder what the difference was between diagonal and down the middle. Diagonal is easier to get in your mouth... and it is more visually appealing.

I like a diagonal sandwich cut because it makes it easy to eat. But nothing is 100% and every once in a while, I will do a middle cut or no cut at all.

When we made sandwiches for the kids lunches we had five or six really big cookie cutters that we would use to cut the sandwich.

It wasn’t until my daughter was 24 that she realized that the cutters used were not sandwich cutters but were cookie cutters.

Grew up with diagonal. I still do that mostly.
For some reason when I am packing them, I cut middle.
I mostly eat open faced (one bread....better for me), then I don't cut.

It depends. I usually go diagonally but if I am packing a picnic and making more than one kind I cut them differently. Like ham and cheese diagonally, turkey down the middle and PBJ into 4 pieces.

That’s so funny. My dad watched the kids and when I made them grilled cheese my daughter cried and asked for it how Grampy made it not the ugly way!

I do both types of cut, depending on the bread. White or wheat bread diagonally. Anything oval or in an elongated shape, like rye bread, hero roll, wrap, etc. straight and in the middle,

When DS was young, I would cut it diagonally into quarters, then arrange it on the plate in two sets of two with the pointed tips together, which we called butterflies. My mom did this for me when I was a kid.

Different ways on different days - sometimes, I don't cut at all. There's no rhyme or reason.

As long as the slices are relatively square/rectangle, I always cut diagonally. Even if it's something like an elongated roll (like a sub bun), I will cut it at an angle, but not a full diagonal.

My husband and I tag team making lunches when we both need to pack. Often, he will make the sandwiches while I get everything else together. He cuts straight down the middle or not at all. I don't say anything because I KNOW it's stupid to complain about how your sandwich is cut -- we're not 5 years old -- but I don't like it. (He's also kindo of a knife "masher" too, so you generally end up with more of a rip than a cut.)

Mom always cut it diagonally so I do. Only time I don’t like someone mentioned, Rye bread can get pretty big slice so that one gets cut in half.

Party sandwiches get quartered.

Great thread dear Slo For most of my life I enjoyed grilled cheese cut diagonally. These days I prefer the lighter option of warm (toasted) or even cold, usually just cut down the middle. Of course cookie cutter or toast stamp shapes or imprints are fun, too!
