They want to use their Marvel IP but because of Universal, they are limited to what they can use. GotG is one, and I believe Doctor Strange might be as well.

I mean I get it they want to use the things they paid for of course! But idk I think there's better things they can do and while I don't fully understand which characters they can use is it really just doctor strange and gotg? I would say they could make gotg more focused on futurworld subjects as something inside the innovations pavilion etc but idk

I just honestly feel that GotG is NOT big enough to be in 2 parks, especially when classic DISNEY movies are so neglected (hercules, mulan, etc.) I do hope there is another option. I think they are overplaying GotG and need to move past it a bit.
Fully understand your concern. I do agree they are missing oportunities with Hercules and Mulan and such.

But right now Marvel is a HUGE property for Walt Disney, and GotG is one of the few Marvel properties they can actively use IN WDW. So I can see them pushing to get it, and to be honest, if done well, and focusing on future space worlds and travel, I can see a tie in to Futureworld. Granted we are leaving the world of edutainment, and going more into fantasy....but there could be a good tie in if done well. Not focusing solely on the characters and such.

Only time will tell, and there is still the chance it won't be GotG.

Per Martin at WDWMagic.com - UK attraction has two leading proposals, but no definite decision on it yet. Nor would he expand on what those two leads were....dang it.>:(
I'd take a guess at either Alice or Mary Poppins as the IP. I assume this would likely be a dark ride of some sort?

not known for sure. I know it will not be a spinner, nor any carny ride like a feris wheel. But no real rumor as far as I know what the ride will entail.

I am gonna say either Mary Poppins or something IP but different from what we already have liiike 101 Dalmatians (we have a cruella film lined up correct?) or maybe and this is #wishful where does Mr. Toad and Ichabod have their adventure haha

Also question: if we DO get Brazil, is an UP ride a potential option too? I am still all about Emperor's even though thats more Peru...buuuut

I mean, Tony Baxter already had the Mary Poppins attraction designed - can't we just use that?

Thanks for your commitment to all news Disney. I too don't go to many forums but yours is so informational [and exciting]. Even if rumours never materialize, it's fun to read the possibilities, and when I see 'green' even better! Be well.

Yes those two they can use.

Since the company is so h*** bent on using popular IPs in their parks now, I have been wondering about what else could be done with DAK in the future. After watching Doctor Strange, it made me wonder if they would try to put that in the Asia section of DAK. The scenes of Nepal in that movie were incredible, and after leaving the movie I actually started envisioning some type of dark ride involving the Ancient One and that mind trip that she sent Doctor Strange on. I know that it has nothing to do with DAK's mission statement or animals at all, but if Chapek is trying to force the Marvel brand in, that was one that occurred to me. I don't know how I would feel about it being the DAK mega-fan that I am, but I bet that Rohde could make a killer ride out of that concept.

I would love that, I would add a black panther area(Wikanda) would be fun as well, but doubt they can touch him due to Avengers tie in.

Black Panther may be doable because as far as I know they don't use him at Universal...but he does tie in to both the Avengers and X-Men. So who knows. I think converting RnR in DHS to a Dr. Strange ride would be great.

yeah as far as i know the marvel properties that disney can't use in orlando are the avengers (including spider-man, captain america, hulk, thor, etc), the fantastic four, the x-men, or anyone related to those properties (for example: deadpool, who's a spinoff from the x-men, and black panther, who debuted in the fantastic four). they can use guardians of the galaxy, doctor strange, big hero 6, and a few other more obscure properties. but per the terms of their contract, they can't use the "marvel" name at ANY of the parks worldwide, and they can't advertise any marvel events within 300 miles around orlando outside of the park. that's probably what's throwing a wrench in anything bigger for orlando, like the guardians of the galaxy coaster

My understanding is the can't use anyone that was every officially part of the Avengers - so I think Black Panther is out

But just being in an Avengers movie doesn't disqualify you - so if the Guardians of the Galaxy are in an avengers movie they are still ok - as long as they don't become officer members of the group
