hows this does this look patient enough :rotfl2:

I was very disappointed with the points for the 15 night eastern repo cruise. I reserved a cat. 11 room for 2 adults and 2 kids. The total points is like 1,039 or something like that. I also have a cash reservation for a little over $5,600 for the same category.

After I talked to member services, I told them to cancel my point reservation. This is just way too high.

If anyone is interested I called for the 5 night DD on the Magic for Sept. 1, 2008. And after the cruise specialist told me that that cruise did not exist I got the points.
2 Adults 94 points each
5 yo 71 points,
1 yo 18 points

Total :277 points we are keeping the cash ressie since we have a Cat 10 SPR for about 1900.00:banana:

Heres the scoop that i got ...Mexican riviera July 20th 2008...7 nights

Per Adult = 436
1st child age 14 = 314
2nd child age 11 = 268

Cash pricing...MrsG quoted different $2,705..for cat 6. I Called twice to check with 2 different people ...this is what they both gave me

Adults = $2,825.00
1st child = $2,035.00
2nd child = $1,735.00

Total of $9,420,00

Now before I booked this with DVC I had it with DCL and my cash price was $7,880.00 and the cruise booked after for my back to back is also $7,880.00. so as for cash value it is $1500 less DCL $1500 more DVC. I am going to call DCL and ask them for there break down for each person and see if there is a difference.

When I asked about the Westbound Repo cruise the pt value was like 560 0r 580 cat6 adult...WOW and that is the cheep one she said...the other cruise eastbound is more :confused3

Well hope this helps...happy sailing :thumbsup2

I call MS yesterday and wanted to get the points for the westbound May 10 sailing for 15 days. This is what I was told....

Cat 5
Adult=592
3rd adult=256

WOW was I shocked...a total of 1,440 for all of us to go... Thinking about booking the 3rd adult by paying cash. The cash values we were given were:

Cat 5
1st & 2nd adult=$3,837
3rd adult=$1,657

I know it is a lot but for 15 days on the Magic...we will do it for sure.party:

Not to hijack the thread, but when you make a cash reservation (part or all), is there a discount for DVC, similar to the cash ressies for DVC resorts?

:rotfl2: NO!!

Actually, it's just the opposite if you pay for some ppl with points thru DVC and cash for the some ppl.

"Got Disney" gave a good example of the difference he ran into...a $1,500 difference!! If you can't cover the entire cruise with points it's often more cost effective to just book the entire thing thru DCL with cash (unless you're booking really close to the sail date and by then DCL's prices are way up).

I think it sucks that they won't let you book your other ppl directly with DCL and that they make you use MS. But that's the system.

Sorry for the delay all. They called me the other day and told me. I had booked previously with no cost or points...they simply reserved the room. Then I was told they would call me and I could either book or cancel if I felt the points/cost were too expensive.

Of course I booked, so now we're set!
Good luck to you all

When is your cruise? Are is June 1st and they have not called yet.
thanks

January...I bet they have a ton to work through, so they are really behind...good planning on their part.

I have a question little off topic but am booked for a back to back one cash week one with pts for the Mexican Riviera as you may have read above . Because pts for MR are so high and cash value is soooo much higher than DCL we are thinking about doing 7 days at DL at the GCH in Concierge. Cancelling one of the weeks cruises..

We have stayed at GCH but not used pts for concierge...have any of you???

The cruise would cost us 1140 in pts plus $2078.00 cash for the DVC cruise...uis only 444 pts for GCH concierge...can save a heck of alot of pts and as we know they are valuble:thumbsup2

Just got the call tonight from MS - We are cruising June 2008 on a 4 day Wonder. Points did not change from this year! :woohoo: Now I will have some points left over for a few days at one of the DVC's. Now the problem............ Which one :confused3

I got a call from MS to. But by the time I could call back it was to late. I have to try tomorrow. I am booked for the June 1st 7 night out of CA. Will let you all know what happens. It is goingto be a long night for me.;)

Is there anywhere we can see the chart for 2008 online?? and cruise dates/season chart?

You can keep an eye on the website are you a DVC member or just looking to rent pts? You will need to be a DVC member to view the sight I believe. You can also call DVC but they still dont have all of there 2008 pts available yet.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I called DVC today to find out the points. I checked it out and the points and what is on DCL are the same. I did a price comparison.
She told me what the cost per person was and the points. I went to DCL and it comes out around the same. So I am happy. What I did do is add 50 more points to SSR so that I only have to pay for the 3rd person, not one full paying adult. So tomorrow my new points will be in my account and I will make my reservations. I am happy the wait is over.:cheer2:

I am on the edge of becoming a member.
This July we will finish paying back the 401k amount we borrowed for our house's down payment, that's when we will borrow again for the DVC.
I am trying to get all the info for 2008. Do you think there will be still space left for the Feb 08 3 night cruise when I finally get my hands on DVC in August?
I just want to "test the water" with a 3 night cruise in a value season.
Does anyone know how many points will it take for that cruise?

They have not even posted 2008 cruise pts yet. I would say yes there should be room. I will check out my info to see what the 2007 3 nights are...will post some time Tomarrow:thumbsup2

3 nights on a DCL is sooooo fast that it will be hard to judge because no sooner di you get on that you are getting off. I say do at least 4 days...like the 3 days WDW and 4 day cruise.

Thanks!! That's my plan exactly, I got the chart for the resort, but I don't have the chart for cruise. I am looking at the Feb 7 or Jan 31 cruise.
