7 months and we back, again : 14 days of gluttony & grub: PLETHORA O' PICS 12/1/23-12/14/23 NEW NEW!!

EVERGLAZED
Everglazed apple.jpg

Everglazed mocha.jpg

We usually get a donut or two each trip because who doesn't love overly
indulgent incredibly sweet slightly overpriced donut.
We do of course. Thankfully we split these two sugar bomb monstrosities.
Both had good flavors and were very fresh.
I like that they change the flavors often here.
One day I think we'll try the savory stuff as well...

FESTIVAL OF THE HOLIDAYS
BOOTHS
Lets start with our favorite
EP FOTH sign Canada.jpg

EP FOTH Canada beef.jpg
1st time
EP FOTH Canada beef 2nd.jpg

EP FOTH Canada cookie.jpg
As you can tell we loved the beef so we got it twice.
The second time we added the cookie and that was a mistake.
CRAP covered with chocolate drizzle. A bite each and right into the
trash where it belongs or perhaps CAME FROM... Hmmmmmmm

EP FOTH America sign.jpg

EP FOTH America fish turkey.jpg
Enjoyed the turkey but shockingly LOVED the catfish.
I should have got that twice. Oddly the catfish never purred when
we ate it. Good kitty, warm kitty, little ball of yum......

FESTIVAL OF THE HOLIDAYS
BOOTHS Continued...

EP FOTH Germany sign.jpg

EP FOTH pork.jpg
Not bad, great punchy flavors just a tad over cooked on the pork.
Would eat again though.

EP FOTH hearth sign.jpg

EP FOTH hearth SE.jpg
Neither of us cared much for this. Let down.

EP FOTH Holiday apple.jpg
This was very good, but Epelkake is far superior.

EP FOTH brittle.jpg

EP FOTH brittle cross.jpg
EXCELLENT. Not to chewy and buttery just enough. Good smooth
chocolate coverage. Should have got more.

Over all not much of the booths interested us, kinda let down.
Plus no one had the chocolate cake yule logs like in the past.
Such a bummer...

EARL OF SANDWICH

EoS turkey club.jpg
Always enjoy Earl and it is always good, BUT the lack of turkey this time was
very noticeable. Hope this was by accident.
Eos pickles.jpg
Of course I ask for EXTRA pickles. I don't mind being charged BUT this is the
amount of pickles you give someone who hates pickles. COME ON EARL. Do better.

PICKLE RATING:
3.5 out of 5 tickle my pickles.
excellently
tangy. But not enough of
them, lose a point.
GIVE ME WHAT I NEED EARL
put more of your pickles in my mouthhole

EET
Since the first part of our trip we stayed at Saratoga but eet hadn't been open just yet.
The day prior we did catch wind that they were opening on Monday at 11am.
So luckily our trips are always laxidasical and we decided to go camp out for a little bit.
We got there about 50 minutes before they open and there was six or seven people
before us so I'm glad we got there when we did.
Is very exciting that we get to be at a Disney restaurant opening which we've never got to do before.

Onto the food
eet sign.jpg

eet menu board.jpg

eet garlic naan.jpg
The naan was decent but pretty standard. Something that I've have
reminiscent tastes from getting at Trader Joe's

eet samosa salad.jpg
The samosa salad was excellent. Fantastic flavors throughout
and didn't feel heavy. The samosas were very good. Nice and crisp.

eet tandoori poutine.jpg
Really found the poutine excellent, there is no complaints other than for $14
put a little bit more chicken on it would you please.

Overall very pleased with eet and happy to have something convenient
when we're staying at Saratoga that is so different than most others.
So eat at eet.

COLUMBIA ( Celebration)
Like every trip we like to meet our good friends Todd & Michelle from Traveling around Disney
for dinner at least once. So this trip we were able to meet them here which we found out from them
a while ago. We truly enjoy hanging out with him they're wonderful people and also
we all love this restaurant.
Columbia bread.jpg
The bread is wonderful everybody gets her own little loaf with
nice creamy very spreadable butter. Plus it comes out wrapped in wax paper to keep
it cozy and ready for you to eat.

Columbia salad.jpg
The salad is always excellent very unique flavor.
Great texture and the dressing is made in house. Should sell it.
They do have the recipe on their website and we did make it a few times and
it comes out great.

Columbia Polo manchego.jpg
As usual me and my wife split entrees.
We've had this chicken before and it is wonderful.
I love that sauce, there's no downside to getting this. Unless you hate chicken
than I guess that would be a downside...

Columbia ribeye.jpg
Never had tried the steak here so we got the ribeye.
It was very good, I think it's a bit pricey for what it is but it still was excellent.
Really should give a potato instead of rice.

Columbia bread pudding.jpg
And the thing that everybody should be coming here for.
One of the best bread puddings you will find anywhere.
It's beyond superb. They should bottle up that vanilla anglace so you can use it as a body lotion.
I just wish they would sell this by the tray so I can have it shipped to my house.

Always a great dinner with great friends. And you do not have to schlep all the
way to Columbia to eat at Columbia....

We were there around the same time as you and agree with your reviews so far! The food and service at Jock Lindsey's weren't great (we too have postponed it many times and finally went). Nothing was warm enough and the croquettes had way too much sage. We were disappointed in the kitchen sink cookie, had an odd flavor and didn't really care for Kris Kringle (but we ate it, too stubborn to throw away a $6 cookie). We did however find room for three slices of cake: carrot cake, Pipistrello, and Peanut Butter Cup. The cake is where it's at. Can't wait to try the Cookie Jar. Didn't make it to Liberty Tree Tavern or Columbia this time but totally wish we had looking at what you got! Great pictures and reviews as always.

I wish they had a lazy dog near me!

Fairfax fare was so much better pre pandemic!

While I enjoyed LTT on my trip, I’m not a toffee person but that grilled pound cake I would’ve been fighting for!

We usually like most of the cakes at Gideons, thats the only way to go.
Thanks for reading more to come....

CHICKEN GUY

Chicken guy holiday shake.jpg
Not bad but lacking a real shake like taste and quality.
Cookie sucked so bad.

Chicken guy pickles tenders.jpg
Chicken was free so that made it better, not worth it anymore
otherwise. Sauces are still nice and the pickles were not worth it
for the portion.

PICKLE RATING:
1.75 out of 5 tickle my pickles.
not much pickle flavor some how
and the breading was weak. It reminded me of the
ones from FarmFoods. Pass on this pickle.
They should shove it up Guy's bum-bum.

CENTERTOWN MARKET

CB mix grill platter.jpg
This is another must get. We share it and it's plenty. We usually get it twice when we are at Riviera since
we can just stroll over. Love the meats and it's a great deal.

CB pickles.jpg

Ask and you shall receive.

PICKLE RATING:
2.85 out of 5 tickle my pickles.
nicely tangy but oddly cut.
Plus this is the amount you give someone who hates pickles
not LOVES THEM. At least they give them to you just for asking.

CATALINA EDDIE'S
Catalina menu.jpg

Catalina Blondie.jpg

The size was nice and big very sharable. All the flavors were great
I love coconut and it stood out. The cream on top was a good addition.
Only nitpick is the texture was a bit crumbly but not really stale, or
maybe it was a bit. We still ate it all. Should have warmed it up back in the
room.

CAPE MAY CAFE
Cape May Cafe buns.jpg

So here's the story how I got these......

I've always wanted to try these buns but we never had interest in eating here.
So we happen to be at the resort looking at the gingerbread displays
and the restaurant was packed. So as we were about to go walk over to Epcot
I said to my wife I'm going to go try to see if I can buy some.
She thought I was crazy but she knew I can get what I ask for.

So I went to the podium and the restaurant was mobbed and I asked
very sweetly to the girl if I can purchase some of her buns.
I explained how I had no interest in eating there but I was always curious about them.

She said let me go find out, and after about 5 minutes she comes back with a
box and hands it to me and says enjoy. I asked her how much and she said don't
worry about it they're on the house. That was incredibly nice of them.

So after finally getting to try them, they were just okay.
The topping was tasty but the rest is basically like a regular roll. The vanilla anglace
was nice to dip it in but I'm glad we never ate here just to get these and it was a nice
bonus that we got them for free.
Charming to be charming!

BOARDWALK DELI
BW deli doodle muff.jpg
So surprised to see this when we came in to grab the croissant.
It was so amazing in the past. We warmed it up later that night
and it still is perfection. I hope it's back to stay and I totally
forgot to ask if it was. Fingers crossed...

BW deli frosted croissant 1.jpg

BW deli frosted croissant inside.jpg
We seen pics of this and it looked fantabulous. After cutting into
it excitement was building. The exterior was good except a tiny bit
on the crisp side. Inside the goopy cream was wonderful. I really
liked it and was surprised by it.
Regret not bringing home some doodle muff for the freezer.
Oh well, be back in September.

BOATWRIGHTS

It's been a few trips since we were here last so we wanted to
revisit. Plus since I now love prime rib I needed to compare.

Boatwrights cornbread.jpg
Good corn bread but even better butter
perfectly smooth and creamy. Wonderfully soft.
Nice touch of shaping it into a mouse head, odd coincidence.

Boatwrights bayou.jpg
Wife got this, we had it before and she said it's still the same.
Nothing amazing but hearty.

Boatwrights prime rib.jpg
Great flavoring on the meat but a very fatty THIN cut. I did love the
butter adoring the meat. Spuds were decent as well as the green beans.
For the same money Turf Club kicks this one to the curb, not even
comparable.

Glad we came back but not sure if or when we would bother to come back...

BOATHOUSE
BRUNCH

This is a MUST every trip and usually twice.
But this time we tried brunch first since we never had it before

Boathouse rolls.jpg
Of course the rolls are excellent here but they brunch ones are
glazed. We loved them but still prefer the lunch/dinner ones.

Boathouse shrimp grits.jpg

What a mouth cornucopia of lip smacking flavors.
Grits, PERFECT. Shrimp PERFECT. Eggs Perfect. Andouille sausage P..pretty good.
You thought I was gonna say PERFECT, I think a breakfast type would have been PERFECT.
Still would get again.

Boathouse steak eggs.jpg
Steak was stellar. Enjoyed immensely the compound butter adoring it.
Potatoes spudtacular. Well seasoned and cooked to our liking.
Eggs, great when all the steak juices intermingled into them. WOW

Boathouse cupcake.jpg
very nice of them to bring it out, but basic as you get.
Few nibbles is all that's needed.

Boathouse turtle pie.jpg
This is what dessert dreams are made from. We took this back to Saratoga for freezer
dessert for the next few nights. The picture does not do the size justice.
I love the icecream and macadamia juxtaposition, plus the crust is bliss.
