7 months and we back, again : 14 days of gluttony & grub: PLETHORA O' PICS 12/1/23-12/14/23 NEW NEW!!

POPCORN BUCKET (FREE)
My wife scours a Facebook group called DVC free-cycle.
When people are checking out if they have extra things they leave it for other DVC members.

So early in the trip when we were at Saratoga someone was leaving a whole bunch of stuff and one of the things that we could use was the popcorn bucket. So after I cleaned it we kept it with us and refilled it 3 different times during the trip. They only charge $2.25 per refill, so awesome.

Something about Disney world popcorn just hits right,
but the maple one in Canada is more fantastical.
We will bring it with us on future trips.

POP CENTURY EVERYTHING POP

POP holiday cupcake.jpg
While on the hunt for holiday treats we came across this cupcake.
It was decent but not worth it for almost $6. If you charge this much
for a cupcake at least make them more grand. We were hoping they
still had the awesome pot roast, but sadness happened when we did not
see it.....
Here is a picture from when they did so you can also weep
for it's departure. (Jan 2022)

PONGU PONGU
Since they now serve breakfast and we happened to be at Animal Kingdom
early enough we had to try it.

Pongu foods.jpg

Pongu pancake inside.jpg

The stuffed pancake was just meh, some odd
bastardized Frankensteinish breakfast food that you would find in any Walmart freezer.
But we couldn't just try that, we had to have our delicious
night blossom and lumpia to go along with it. So not all was lost.
That breakfast pancake was a one and done. It even looks like something is in
a mid birthing...

MOONLIGHT MAGIC (ANIMAL KINGDOM)
Everything you see was free.

Never had these before, tasty but if this is the regular serving
not worth what they charge.
We liked them so much we got it again (not shown)

this was great, looked pretty and tastes wonderful.
Would buy it next time.

MM night blossom.jpg
goes down smoother when the cost is ZERO!!

MM pecans.jpg
Who doesn't love warm sweet salty nuts in their mouths. I do!
You gotta be nuts if you don't like these.

MM Mickey bar.jpg
They're even better when it's all you can eat and FREE!!!

MM flame onion.jpg
still great onion rings. Just don't wear them on your fingers when they
just come out of the fryer...

This was our 3rd Moonlight magic in a row. Last 3 trips we been lucking out.
Plus they give you 2 game vouchers and we won dinos for our grandson.
He will love them.

My mouth is watering (and admittedly I got worried about rodeo roundup but happy to see it’s still good-one of our faves our most recent trip!)

LIBERTY TREE TAVERN

It's not a trip unless we eat here. It's been a constant must do
for many years now. This time is just a perfect as all that came before.
LTT salad rolls.jpg
We much prefer the salad now since they changed it not
long ago, when we were here in May we noticed the difference
and much better. I did forget my salad dressing packet this time.
LTT meal.jpg
Bask in all this glory. If you never asked for the fries you are foolish.
Ask for them ( no charge) and adorn it with the perfection of a pot roast.
Only thing we never love is the pork, just not our jam. Mac & cheese is
sublime. Green beans, perfection. Stuffing, lovely.
LTT cake.jpg
Still good, but much prefer when they had the griddled pound cake :(

In honor in a fallen dessert....

LAZY DOG ( off property but real close)
We found out about this new restaurant recently from our good friends
Todd & Michelle from the channel Traveling Around Disney, the food did look great.
So we decided to take a quick Uber ride over and check it out for ourselves.
Here we go........

Lazy dog coconut shrimp.jpg
We split the coconut shrimp and that was very good but
not a strong pronounced coconut flavor, but excellent nonetheless.

Lazy dog burger.jpg

Lazy dog BBQ burger.jpg

Lazy dog burger cross.jpg
We both got burgers so we didn't have to share anything and they both were excellent.
Very good flavor and meat quality was superb. It was cooked like we asked.
Great onion rings and they were very reminiscent of the ones you would get at Flame Tree BBQ.

What really intrigued us was they make in-house complete frozen meals for only $10.
When staying at Copper Creek we like to keep emergency foods in the fridge
and we thought this would be great to have when we didn't feel like anything specific.

Since we had trouble picking only a few we decided tobuy 5 get one 1 free.
Why the heck not.
They were all very tasty but my favorite was the turkey which I usually never care that much for.
Next would be the meatloaf.
Chicken parm was decent it's just tough to cook it with cheese on it already.
The fried chicken did come out better since it didn't have the sauce and cheese on it.
The Pot pie was very good, just a little soupy on the inside.
All the veggies were fresh tasting and flavorful. Plus all the desserts
were much better than I would have thought. Loved them all.
It's crazy that they sell these for only $10 each let alone give you a free one when you buy five.

We did find out they're opening a lazy dog in our area sometime next year so
we'll definitely be going up there to eat and try out more of the menu.
We really dug this place, thanks Todd & Michelle Great recommendation as usual.

LA CANTINA

La cantina menu.jpg

La cantina tacos tenders.jpg

Since we were in a weird state of meals at this point we decided out of desperation
as we were walking by to get a little snack, but we didn't want to ruin our dinner later.
We figured why not, we haven't had this in about 15 years so it was time to re-review it again.

Place is always jumping and it's like fighting sharks to find a table but luckily we did.
Chicken tenders were okay better than I expected. Little light on the chicken tender part.

The tacos have decent flavor but they are incredibly small and for the price
they charge I think they've gone loco. At least it wasn't crap.

JOCK LINDSEY'S
Jock Lindseys pigs.jpg

Jock Lindseys sliders.jpg

Jock Lindseys turkey.jpg

Shockingly every trip that we had Jock Lindsey's penciled in somewhere we
always decide to cancel it. So this trip we finally decided to check it out specifically
they added some holiday menu items which sounded interesting.
I like the location, we sat outside which was nice but our server was a crabby horrible
and miserable. Just almost useless.
While all the food was okay at best, none of the stuff that came out was remotely hot
everything was just lukewarm.

So we ate it all and now we know we'll not come back again.
Never understood why people rave about this place I think they're out of their minds.
Just glad they did not serve Jock Straps.

GIDEON'S

Gideons case.jpg

Gideons krampus cake.jpg

Gideons krampus cookie.jpg

Gideons pb dip.jpg

We've had Gideon's many times, but we usually only like the cake.
The cookies are so overrated and not to our preference.
Never worth any wait for sure.
But since they had the Kris Kringle cake and cookie we decided to give that a shot.
Also had to get a side cup of the peanut butter dip which is amazing.
This trip we did skip the peanut butter coffee for whatever reason that is great.

The cake was mediocre and odd tasting. The peanut butter dip helped it
but we both felt it was lacking a good flavor and weird.

Now the cookie we just took a bite each and threw it in the trash ,
so that should tell you everything you need to know. Huge let down.
What maniacs toss a cookie. We did and so surprised in our action.

So happy that Summer House is open and their cookies are far more outstanding.
