Canadian Buffoon's Exhausted Vacation - Update 09/01 - New TR link!

I went to the bathroom
and might have squealed
in pain as I partially threw
my back out.

Oh, man. I'm sorry. I know how painful that is.

I was moving a little slowly this
morning, not of my own accord,
so it took me a full 45 minutes
or so to get up and dressed
and out of my room.

Yuck. I'm glad you could at least move, though.

I was by no ways the first to arrive.
Not even close.

Wow, that's quite the crowd. Was something special going on that day?

Once the throng was allowed
to enter, I hopped on a car
for a relaxing, leisurely jaunt
down Main St. USA.

Hope you tipped her and said, "Run these people over!"

I stayed to the left, right behind the CM
and was rewarded with my efforts by
following the CM up to the queue,
into the queue and right up to the ride.
I was the first guest of the day on 7DMT.

Hey, cool! Nice work.

What could be better than sitting
in jammies and a housecoat, sipping
a mug of coffee (or in my case, hot
chocolate) and perusing the morning
paper?

:rotfl2::rotfl:I can always count on you for a great Splash Mountain photo. Or two.

DSC08537_zpsaiv3ju5z.jpg

That's a cool display. I don't think I've seen that one before.

I won't say it's my favourite
ride in Disney... nor even in
MK... but it's in the top 3
(at MK, at least.)

Definitely my favorite in MK. :goodvibes

Impressive work! Just a wild guess that you didn't bring the knife with you on the ride.

Please keep your cutting remarks
to yourselves.

I was gonna say you looked sharp.

And... I gotta tell ya...
I didn't like it.
Far too many chocolate chips.
At that time of morning, for
breakfast, I just don't normally
like or want a lot of chocolate.
Unless it's hot chocolate... then maybe.

Dang. I can usually go for a nice chocolate croissant.

Great shots there! I like the lighting.

I decided to mobile-order
a Dole Whip Float first.

OMG.... soooo good.

This is correct.

Rejuvenated, I was able
to help Peter defeat the
pirates.
(My recent experience on
POTC played no small part.)

Indubitably.

While I was in the area,
I had a nice chat with a DVC
CM and decided to let myself
get talked into a DVC tour.

Well, what'd you go and do that for?

The offer of three anytime FPs
didn't hurt either.

Ah. I think I see the full picture now.

Tron was coming along nicely.
Looks like they have the track
laid now.

Oh man, I can't wait to ride that!

Whenever we go back, many years from now.

I offered to let him hold it, but he
surprised me by saying that he
wasn't allowed to touch guests'
cameras.
I wonder why not? Because it would
stop him from playing? Because
he might drop it? But other CMs
use guests' cameras all the time.

I still don't know.

Or maybe he just didn't want to. :rolleyes1:rotfl:

While I suppose the "all you can eat"
option is what might bring in the hungry,
I'm just not that big an eater to make
it worth my while.
But you can order a la carte.

Sounds like a plan to me. I'd be interested in trying it, too, just because I never see it open.

I waited for a few minutes
and was brought to what
was described as "The best
seat in the house."

Looks like a good spot!

I looked around and was a bit
surprised by these (for Disney)
slightly risqué prints on the wall.

Avert your eyes, in the name of decency!

But I am definitely glad I tried
this new-to-me spot.

Counts as a win.

This couple at the Speedway made
me laugh, so I snapped a photo
as they chugged past.

That looks...uncomfortable.

And I like to think that this
guy looks like he's 15 feet tall.
(No, he's not photoshopped.
the cars are just that small.)

He really does look like a giant!

I passed the line for the Speedway
and shook my head.
I just can't imagine standing in
line for the chance to slowly
jerk around a track.
Nope. Not for me.

The things we do for our kids...:sad2:

I won't go into all the details
of the DVC spiel.
It was interesting and informative...
but I just don't think it's for me.

We've been tempted before, but we just like variety and exploring different places too much to make it a good investment.

Hey! Nice job!

There was one joke that I hadn't heard before.
Skip it if you'd rather hear it straight from
the source.
Otherwise you can click the spoiler button.

Always up for a good Jungle Cruise dad joke.

I know one of my readers
recommended this.
And I almost remember who.
But that note is at work.
If it was you... thanks!
It was really tasty!

I'll have to make note of that one.

She quickly nodded, I picked
her up (fins... you know...)
and we headed out for some
rides.

Man. You went above and beyond with the Ariel visit this time!

I asked her what ride she
wanted to go on next.
And this is what she picked...

So what we've learned from this is: Ariel has awful, terrible taste.

You can tell from the people she chooses to spend time with rides she chooses to enjoy.

After that torture was over,
I dropped her off back at
the grotto and told her I'd
have to rethink our future.

Sad... but everyone has their limit.

No one is perfect, so we can never have such high standards for our mate that we rule everyone out.

But Small World is probably a bridge too far.

Dejected, I arrived at the bus stop
at 7:09pm... and to add insult to
injury, the bus didn't arrive until
eight minutes later, at 7:17pm.

Ha! Now you know what it feels like to be a regular peon like the rest of us!

I mean, uh, sorry for the wait.

Well, take it with a grain
of salt.
@chunkymonkey loves it.

Ok I do really like them but lately they have not been as good as the first time I've tried it. In Nov I ate the nutella waffle again at Sleepy hollow and now that is my new favorite breakfast at MK!

Ugh, back problems are the worst. I had deja vu from reading your Italy TR. So glad this time wasn't as bad.
Also... your last post with the photography tricks and antics was..... Absolutely THE BEST EVER!!! Pure genius!

Happy New Year Ponzi, many blessings to you and your family, I hope 2020 brings good health, happiness, and many, many more Disney trips!
~Dawn

I went to the bathroom
and might have squealed
in pain as I partially threw
my back out.

Ouch! Bummer!

It wasn't a complete disaster
luckily, or un-luckily.
While I was severely
impaired, I was at least able
to remain upright.
When I completely throw it out,
I am unable to stand.

Oh jeez…What would you do if that happened on a solo trip?

Until the alarm blared at 5:15am.

Yikes!

But I know a trick or two and...
By skirting around the crowd to
the right, I was able to position
myself fairly close to the entrance.

IMG_2884_zpsledqmta3.jpg

Perfect :thumbsup2

I stayed to the left, right behind the CM
and was rewarded with my efforts by
following the CM up to the queue,
into the queue and right up to the ride.
I was the first guest of the day on 7DMT.

All that, even with a bad back…good for you!

My near sleepless night was
beginning to catch up to me.
I stumbled off of PP and semi-
sleep-walked over to Splash.
I needed some time to regroup
and wake up a bit.
What could be better than sitting
in jammies and a housecoat, sipping
a mug of coffee (or in my case, hot
chocolate) and perusing the morning
paper?

<yawn!>
Still tired...

525416750_zpsajoeensf.jpg

I wonder why more people don't do this…it seems like such a great idea :P

...might as well go again...
There we go... starting
to wake up a bit, now.

525406496_zps9yjhj3hp.jpg

Did they put you on as a single rider?? Do they do that on SM? I've never seen that before :confused3

Speaking of favourite ride,
I was simply beside myself
with fright when I rode HM.

525451193_zpsc6bajnaj.jpg

Awesome! Your photoshop skills are getting better!

I didn't like it.
Far too many chocolate chips.
At that time of morning, for
breakfast, I just don't normally
like or want a lot of chocolate.
Unless it's hot chocolate... then maybe.

Ooh, remind me to tell Allie about this one next trip :D

The offer of three anytime FPs
didn't hurt either.

Not a bad deal.

Tour arranged, I made my way
onto the WEDway People Mover.

And... it must be done...

DSC08604_zps16xshyl7.jpg

Yes, it must :thumbsup2

I offered to let him hold it, but he
surprised me by saying that he
wasn't allowed to touch guests'
cameras.
I wonder why not? Because it would
stop him from playing? Because
he might drop it? But other CMs
use guests' cameras all the time.

I still don't know.

I think because people would want him to take pictures of them while he's sitting there waiting for his chance to play again.

I waited for a few minutes
and was brought to what
was described as "The best
seat in the house."

IMG_2890_zpsqen31ake.jpg

There are two tables, one on either
side of the stage, set on elevated
platforms.
It's very set apart and offers plenty
of elbow room and privacy.

I loved it.

Lucky you :-)

I looked around and was a bit
surprised by these (for Disney)
slightly risqué prints on the wall.

IMG_2894_zpsw0wy23r1.jpg

IMG_2893_zpsclvsyvxt.jpg

I wonder if they are a throwback to The Golden Horseshoe decor?? having never been n either, I'm just guessing. I like them. And maybe it's not so weird if you consider they used to have a bra store in DL.

But I am definitely glad I tried
this new-to-me spot.

It looks decent…I forget, is it just open seasonally?

I passed the line for the Speedway
and shook my head.
I just can't imagine standing in
line for the chance to slowly
jerk around a track.
Nope. Not for me.

Me either. My poor kids got to do it once but that line, combined with the smell of diesel...

And no trip to Tomorrowland
would be complete without
a quick snap of my favourite trees.

DSC08598_zpshgtxprbp.jpg

Almost as nice as the Baobab tree :goodvibes

Returning to MK, I used my
first FP to hop on Buzz.
I brought all my weapons
to bear and defeated Zurg
and saved the Galaxy!

You're welcome.

Awesome! :worship:

We hugged and laughed and
reminisced.
I pulled out my phone and
showed her photos of how
our relationship progressed.

I still love all those photos :rotfl:

But we were alone now.
No stinkin' kids to bug us.
I could see that there was
a long line to see her...
So I suggested she ditch
the grotto and come with
me and play for a while.

She quickly nodded, I picked
her up (fins... you know...)
and we headed out for some
rides.

First stop, of course, was HM.
She loved it.
I knew I'd picked the right girl.

Omg, what fun you had! What a sweet couple! :rotfl2:

I asked her what ride she
wanted to go on next.
And this is what she picked...

IASW_zpslxuuigzo.jpg

I KNEW I liked her!

might have squealed
in pain as I partially threw
my back out.
Oh no, I have been there it really sucks!
I limped/staggered/shuffled
back to bed and miraculously
fell asleep.
I’m glad you were able to get back to sleep for a little while!
hopped on a car
for a relaxing, leisurely jaunt
down Main St. USA.
I always see the trolley car and want to ride in it and I never have yet, someday!
After a successful tour of the Dwarf's mine,
I zipped over to PP and was pleased to
see that it was still a walk on.
Cool to be the first on the ride! I love the stand by line for PP
What could be better than sitting
in jammies and a housecoat, sipping

I don’t know how you do that, I can’t even keep my eyes open and my mouth closed 😆
Speaking of favourite ride,
I was simply beside myself

Very cool photo shopping in this post!
I'd heard of the Cat Tails for a while
and had tried to get one during
the last trip
Sorry you didn’t care for this, Andi and I tried it and we liked it
I decided to mobile-order
a Dole Whip Float first.
Yum, I do love a dole whip, I haven’t tried the float. I love the pineapple upside down cake with the dole whip
I waited for a few minutes

Very nice, thanks for the review on this, I seriously have never seen one.

Galactic Hero, very cool! Andi has been one many times, me only 1x when the ride stopped:laughing:
Now... time for that date.
What a wonderful date with Ariel until she suggested IASW, the things you do for love:rotfl::thumbsup2

I just spied a new resale contract for Boulder Ridge. 170 points at $105/point for a total of $19,324. Plus the resort is coming due for a refurb in 2022 so now is a good time to get in. It is an awesome resort. :)
Unfortunately, I don't have
that kind of coin handy at
the moment.

2019 was... expensive. :)

Oh, man. I'm sorry. I know how painful that is.
Not fun.
Yuck. I'm glad you could at least move, though.
I got off pretty lucky, actually.
It was hard to get up.
It was difficult to get out
the door.
It hurt to walk at first...
But after an hour or two,
I wasn't feeling too badly.

Yeah... I got lucky that time.
Wow, that's quite the crowd. Was something special going on that day?
Nope. Just regular morning crowd.
Hope you tipped her and said, "Run these people over!"
Not necessary.
I was still first on the ride.

Probably only another
20 years or so for you.

While I've always been curious to try it, the amount of meat advertised doesn't appeal. Looks heavy and pricy. I suppose if I did find myself there, I'd do like you did and order a al carte.

But I am definitely glad I tried
this new-to-me spot.

I'm never sorry for trying new places. I'm glad you did this!

This couple at the Speedway made
me laugh, so I snapped a photo
as they chugged past.

Some people always have to test the limits and rules:

"Please keep hands, arms, legs and feet inside the ride vehicle at all times..."

I was surprised, given my recent
heroism, that they asked me to
pay for it.

Disney would ask God to pay for His rootbeer float.

We hugged and laughed and
reminisced.
I pulled out my phone and
showed her photos of how
our relationship progressed.

Aww, like a little trip down memory lane. Sweet.

I spent the next little while
wandering the park, trying
to decide what to do.
Really, more or less in shock.

Shocked that she'd make you go on IASW? Maybe she's just making you happy going on the Mine Train. Afterall, she IS a SeaGurl. I'm sure you can find a happy compromise. :)

Unfortunately, I don't have
that kind of coin handy at

2019 was... expensive. :)
I completely understand......with one at university now and the twins poised to go next year, money is stretched thin around here too. The reason I bought is that my aunt had left me a bequest in her will and I thought I would use it for something that I would love but not ordinarily be able to afford.

Ugh, back problems are the worst.
They are not a whole
heck of a lot of fun.

I had deja vu from reading your Italy TR. So glad this time wasn't as bad.
I don't want to go through

In a sense, I won't.
It's happened again a time

times I had the benefit
of knowing what the heck

was happening to me.
Also... your last post with the photography tricks and antics was..... Absolutely THE BEST EVER!!! Pure genius!

Happy New Year Ponzi, many blessings to you and your family, I hope 2020 brings good health, happiness, and many, many more Disney trips!
Happy New Year to you too, Dawn.
I hope this year is wonderful for you and yours.

Ouch! Bummer!
Just a little bit.
Oh jeez…What would you do if that happened on a solo trip?
I've thought of that.
1. I will not let my back
dictate my life.
Well... I won't be bungee
jumping anytime soon,
but I won't sit at home, either.
2. If it does go... then I change
my plans. I tell the hotel that
I'll be staying a day or three
longer if it's checkout time.
I'll order room service or

delivery.
Yep.
All that, even with a bad back…good for you!
Not too shabby. :)
I wonder why more people don't do this…it seems like such a great idea :P
So relaxing!
Did they put you on as a single rider?? Do they do that on SM? I've never seen that before :confused3
I guess.
I remember being surprised.
But maybe because I asked

a party of three?

A whole hour and a quarter!!

:sad2:
I always see the trolley car and want to ride in it and I never have yet, someday!
Then ask!
If it's just sitting there,
ask for a ride.
I did one time and was told
no because a parade was
coming soon, but otherwise,

they're happy to oblige. :)
Cool to be the first on the ride! I love the stand by line for PP
Me too. They did a really
great job on it.

I don’t know how you do that, I can’t even keep my eyes open and my mouth closed 😆
:rotfl:
Very cool photo shopping in this post!

Just not my cup of tea, I guess.
Yum, I do love a dole whip, I haven’t tried the float. I love the pineapple upside down cake with the dole whip
You're the second person
to mention the cake.
Again, not my cup of tea...

But I love the float!
Very nice, thanks for the review on this, I seriously have never seen one.
I hadn't either.
That's why I chose it
over my LTT ADR.
So true, the smell alone keeps me away. We have done it once in all our trips

Galactic Hero, very cool! Andi has been one many times, me only 1x when the ride stopped:laughing:

I may have to rethink
things with her.

I think had I been in your pj's I'd have turned right back over and gone back to sleep.
But if you'd been in my pj's
rolling over would wake me up!

Ummm, that sounded bad... I almost said shoes, but I assume you don't wear shoes to bed.
Of course it sounded bad.
You're forcing me to get roomier pj's!

And... of course I wear shoes to bed.
But only in Disney. That way when the
alarm sounds, I can be up and out
in a flash.

No. I don't wear shoes to bed.
I do that too!!
Classic move. :)
A just reward!
I should think so! :snooty:
See? You should have gone back to bed.
Just needed some cold water
splashed on my face.

That is a SUPER cool poster!
Right?
I actually thought of you when
I took that photo.

"This is something Liesa would shoot."
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde much?
Just a little game of
Hyde and Stab.

As a macro girl at heart, this photos kinda tickles my fancy.
Interesting comment.
I think of that at Telephoto photography.
I found this:
The term 'macro photography' describes the art of taking close-up photographs of subjects. Traditionally for a photograph to be considered a true macro photograph the subject should be rendered as life-sized or larger than life-sized.

So we're both right. You use the first line,
while I subscribe more to the traditional
definition of Macro Photography.
always wanted to do one of those. Even if just for the FPs.
I would've done it for nothing.
I was just really interested. :)

::yes::
While I've always been curious to try it, the amount of meat advertised doesn't appeal. Looks heavy and pricy. I suppose if I did find myself there, I'd do like you did and order a al carte.
No meat in my meal.
Chicken... but not beef.
It was tasty and not

overly heavy.
I'm never sorry for trying new places. I'm glad you did this!
Me too!
Some people always have to test the limits and rules:

"Please keep hands, arms, legs and feet inside the ride vehicle at all times..."
"Don't worry about hands, arms and legs.
This ride is boring enough as it is. Go wild."

Disney would ask God to pay for His rootbeer float.
:lmao:
Aww, like a little trip down memory lane. Sweet.

Really!

I completely understand......with one at university now and the twins poised to go next year, money is stretched thin around here too. What a wonderful way to use
her gift to you!
Now every time you go,
you'll think of her. :)

I like that quite a lot.

I was by no ways the first to arrive.
Not even close.
Not bad really! You weren't..............well yeah not even close :crowded:
7DMT.
I stayed to the left, right behind the CM
and was rewarded with my efforts by
following the CM up to the queue,
into the queue and right up to the ride.
I was the first guest of the day on 7DMT.
Wow! Sweet move :tiptoe: I've never thought about that although there have been a couple times we catch a Main St vehicle right when we walk in at opening. Just never thought about still being able to get a jump on the 7D line!
What could be better than sitting
in jammies and a housecoat, sipping
a mug of coffee (or in my case, hot
chocolate) and perusing the morning
paper?
And you didn't mind all those freeloaders barging in on your nice relaxing morning ;)
I was simply beside myself
with fright when I rode HM.
 I think this is one of my fave HM shots to date!
And... I gotta tell ya...
I didn't like it.
Far too many chocolate chips.
Hmm well now you know. I've had it twice and for some reason enjoyed it much more the first time and threw part of it away the 2nd. It's off my "to eat" list now and if I need something sweet in the morning at MK I'll stick with my always delicious cinnamon roll from Gaston's 💪
I looked around and was a bit
surprised by these (for Disney)
slightly risqué prints on the wall.
Wow, I like them and really don't think they're "risque" but as you say, not your regular Disney decor lol. We've been in there once but I don't remember those.
Was it the best meal I've ever had?
Well... no. Of course not.
Was it good?
Yes, I'd give it a thumb's up.
The sandwich was fine
and the potato salad had a nice
smoky flavour to it.
I don't know if I'd go back,
there are plenty of other dining
options to choose from in MK.
But I am definitely glad I tried
this new-to-me spot.
It's always nice to try a new place! And when it's someplace that's nagging at you to try you kinda gotta do it :) Enjoyed your review because as you said you really don't see any! We did eat there once a few years ago but it was while it was opened seasonally and just QS options. It wasn't bad, but nothing we felt we'd need to repeat.
whisked by
van over to WL.
 any excuse to visit the lovely Lodge!
First stop, of course, was HM.
She loved it.
I knew I'd picked the right girl.
Oh lol wait this may be my favorite HM picture!
And this is what she picked...
OMG your face :worship: these pictures are just genius!!

Not bad really! You weren't..............well yeah not even close :crowded:
Nope.
Wow! Sweet move :tiptoe: I've never thought about that although there have been a couple times we catch a Main St vehicle right when we walk in at opening. Just never thought about still being able to get a jump on the 7D line!
You learn things on my TR, you know.
Not all of them useful...
but sometimes...
And you didn't mind all those freeloaders barging in on your nice relaxing morning ;)
I run a benevolent dictatorship.
 I think this is one of my fave HM shots to date!
 Thanks!

I will definitely go back
to Gaston's.
Those suckers are good!

Not really risqué.
Otherwise I don't think
I'd be able to post them!

I was really happy I was still
able to try it. :)
