Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

Disneyland Paris news: New drone show, new central plaza show, new spring show and news about the reopening of the Disneyland Hotel!

Disneyland Hotel reopening

It has taken a while, but we have a sort of time period for the reopening of the Disneyland Hotel which got an extensive refurbishment. It'll be the 1st quarter of 2024. Which is better than just 2024.
Reservations start as of September 12, and by then we should know more about an exact opening date.

Disney Symphony of Colours:
We will get a set of new experiences:
- A new drone show as of January 8, according to ED92, it will include a 'real parade'
Google translate gives me this translation of the press announcement, I'm a bit confused ;-)
"Indeed, an exceptional new night sequence, played around the iconic Château, will amaze young and old alike and will combine fountains, lights, projections and choreographies of drones, which will parade in front of them under the appearance of luminous floats, paying homage to an iconic nocturnal experience that marked the history of Disneyland Paris."

- A new Central plaza show as of February 10 (the 30th anniversary show Shine Brighter will end in September 2023, and after that we will have the Halloween and Christmas entertainment). Mirabel will make her first appearance in this show. Also Timon and Joy will be in this new show.

- New decorations on Main Street

New Spring show
In Spring 2024, Walt Disney Studios Park will welcome “A Musical Extravaganza Inspired by the Whimsical World of Alice in Wonderland” in the former “Stunt Show” arena in The Studios.

The location is unusual as it clashes with everything else in The Studios. For the past years Fantasyland characters do not go to the Studios, only sometimes for character training, or specific shows.

100 anniversary celebration on October 16
And that's basically it ;) lots of special things going on, on the 16th!

Rosalie in Disney Village will open in December 2023
This restaurant will replace Café Mickey in Disney Village. I was there this weekend, and slowly we can see the progress. Fingers crossed they will make the deadline (although I loved my dinner and mocktails in the Royal Pub this weekend ;) )

Are those the themes of the rooms? Wow, I'm surprised too see Sword in the Stone. I would love to stay in that room
Until now all we heard was about princess themed rooms, would be cool to have Sword in the Stone as well. And apparently there are going to be Meet & Greets as well, looks like Rapunzel meeting with a child.

Disney Hosts World Princess Week Party for Wish Families Across America

If you’ve been following along with recent Disney Parks news, then you know World Princess Week was a celebration of royal proportions at our destinations around the world as we celebrated the timeless magic and beloved storytelling of Disney princesses. It was an extra special week for us here at Walt Disney World as we welcomed more than 50 incredible wish kids and their families from organizations like Make-A-Wish for our largest wish-granting event ever: “Once Upon A Wish Party.

“Granting wishes is some of the most important work that we do at Disney,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. “We’re humbled that so many wish kids choose Disney – it’s an honor, and we don’t take that responsibility lightly. It tells us what our brand and the Disney experience mean to people.”

We know wishes are powerful, transformative experiences for children facing critical illnesses, and granting wishes is an enormous honor for us here at Disney as the largest wish granter in the world for Make-A-Wish. In fact, one out of every two wishes granted in the U.S. through Make-A-Wish has been a Disney wish.

Many of those wishes are to meet a Disney Princess and we wanted to find a unique way to make these greetings even more special. So, with the help of the Fairy Godmother, cast members across the company worked together to dream up a full-day affair filled with fun fairytale adventures.

Wish kids were proclaimed royalty for the day, had a tea party in Wonderland, met more than 30 iconic Disney characters and danced the night away at a Royal Ball. Alongside an array of books from Disney Publishing, our friends at shopDisney delivered an extra dose of magic and surprised families with Disney Princess dresses, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse ear headbands, wands, tiaras … and so much more. Take a look at the best day ever!

Every second of this event was pure magic, and I haven’t stopped smiling since. One of my favorite parts was seeing Mikayla’s wish come true, our 150,000th Disney wish granted through Make-A-Wish. Mikayla is a 17-year-old from Palm Beach Gardens who began her battle fighting cancer three years ago. She wished to perform at Disney, and that wish came true in a royal way when she took the stage during the ball for a special singing performance alongside Belle and The Beast from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.”

“As the number one wish granter for our organization, Disney is helping deliver joy when it’s needed most,” said Leslie Motter, Make-A-Wish America President & CEO. “Through their stories and characters, Disney is creating unforgettable wish experiences that renew hope and uplift the spirits of children facing critical illnesses and their families.”

We’ve been granting wishes alongside our friends at Make-A-Wish for more than 40 years now, and it’s one of the traditions I’m most proud of. We’ve granted more than 150,000 wishes together – a number that grows every day. In fact, we’re already planning our next wish-granting events at Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

Disney released a new look at the mural created for The Villas at Disneyland Hotel.

The artwork will be displayed in the hotel's lobby when it officially opens one month from today on Sept. 28.
The mural, which was created by Lorelay Bové, associate production designer on Disney Animation’s “Encanto," features several hidden Mickeys and a nod to the upcoming film "Wish."
