Doing July a Whole New Way...

After exploring all there is to explore in Japan we moved on to Morocco.

DSCF0675.jpg

Where we decided to partake in a bit of a snack.

We headed into Tangierine Café, decided what to order and did our thing...Cary went to order and the kids and I were lucky enough to find a table inside the very small venue.

DSCF0676.jpg

DSCF0677.jpg

In looking at the allears menu I am not seeing what we got...so I'm going to wing it! Now, the kids, nor Cary were too thrilled about eating here...it's just flavors they don't get very often. Skyler did not eat anything.

We ordered the Mediterranean Sliders Combo and a coke.

DSCF0678.jpg

It was hummus, lentils and three pita sliders. I want to say the sliders were lamb, chicken, and ???...Help me out here!

Well, the hummus...no one else was going to tough it. I tried it. Like I always do. Because I expect to like it. But I just can't. I don't know why. I like chickpeas. I like all kinds of different flavors. I just have not found one I can enjoy.

The lentils were ok. Cary tasted these. He said they were ok but he didn't eat any more. I had some and they were good. I've tried to make lentil soup and home and it never tastes right. But these were good.

The greens on the plate...I'm not sure what they are called. No one but me tried them. They were a good side but I like greens and things like that so I thought they had good flavor.

And the sliders...well if we could have (and maybe would could have, we didn't ask because we didn't know how we'd like this at all) asked for them to all be lamb, we would have hit this one our of the park. The one I can't remember was obviously the least favorite. The chicken one was good. But the lamb one was like a really good gyros...and this is where Tyler decided he likes gyros! Obviously without any sauce or additional items but he scarfed down most of the lamb one. And wanted us to go get more!

So, this was a meal no one wanted to do. But in the end, three of us ate off of and enjoyed at least a part of. Like I said, I don't see the sliders on the menu anymore. Maybe they have them at Spice Road Table...I don't know. But the lamb ones were really good.

If we were in the mood again, we'd probably stop by again now that the boys realize it is not as scary as they thought it would be.

Our total here was $18.73...and we were rung out at 6:47pm.

After looking around in Morocco (it's so pretty in there) we headed over to France and right into L'Artisan des Glaces.

DSCF0684.jpg

DSCF0685.jpg

DSCF0686.jpg

We decided on a one scoop cup of Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream for the kids to share. (I don't know...that sure does look like cookies & crème but my receipt says mint chocolate chip so???)

DSCF0679.jpg

Well, it was ice cream...it was good...but why would we expect anything else???

And Cary and I split a Croque Glace...choice of 1 ice cream/sorbet flavor in a warm brioche, with choice of sauce, warmed and sealed.

We chose banana lime ice cream and raspberry sauce.

DSCF0680.jpg

DSCF0681.jpg

DSCF0682.jpg

While this seemed like an odd combo, it actually was really good. The whole thing was a bit hard to eat though. Obviously the ice cream on the outer edges was soft but the middle was still well formed and COLD when compared to the warm outside. And after a bit, the seal started un-sealing. But we had spoons so we were good. The texture is odd at first when you're used to an ice cream sandwich texture. I mean, it's bread after all, wrapped around ice cream...I would not normally think of wrapping my ice cream with bread...but the brioche was very soft anf buttery and really goes well with ice cream.

I don't know that I'd make a special trip for this but it was good and you can choose your combo so that's a good thing too. There's just so much good to eat in France that I am not sure I'd repeat this in the very near future...but I might.

We had to stalk a table inside the bakery area for a seat...it was brutal in there. We ended up grabbing a standing table...which stunk after walking in the heat all day but at least we could settle all or stuff enough to eat.

DSCF0683.jpg

Our total here was $12.50.

We looked around inside and Skye added more to her Duffy and realized she forgot to do him in Morocco...but we were not going back at this point. She decided she'd bring him back next time.

Then we headed off to the next country over...

Love your food pix! PS - that's tabouleh. A parsley-based middle eastern salad. Dressing is usually plain EVOO + lemon :)

So we were leaving France around 7:30pm and crossed the International Gateway into the UK.

The first order of business was food...so we stopped at Yorkshire County Fish Shoppe.

Again, Cary ordered and we went to find seats.

DSCF0694.jpg

DSCF0695.jpg

It was crowded over there but not as bad as I have seen it before. We were able to get a table along the railing and gather supplies before Cary got to us.

We ordered 2 Fish & Chips... two strips of fish served with chips and 2 cokes.

DSCF0696.jpg

This was plenty for all of us at this point in our quest. We all ate off of these and thought they were very good. They are crispy on the outside and hot and moist and flaky on the inside. The chips are steak fries and shoestring mixed together. So you got some crispy and some soft chips. I use tarter sauce but no one else does. The fish was a little soft for good dipping as it was falling off when I tried but it worked out eventually.

Each serving is really a lot of food. So this would be a great meal of one for sure.

Our total here was $29.36.

After food we went to look around the UK.

DSCF0697.jpg

DSCF0699.jpg

DSCF0700.jpg

And Tyler went off to exchange his charger.

DSCF0701.jpg

DSCF0702.jpg

DSCF0703.jpg

Then we headed to Canada...where outside of LeCellier there really isn't much to eat!

DSCF0704.jpg

DSCF0705.jpg

Skye finished off her Duffy (except for Morocco).

DSCF0706.jpg

DSCF0708.jpg

And we decided not to wait for Illuminations but to head back up front to the busses to try to avoid the crowds.

So we hopped on a bus at 9:36pm and had beat the mad rush to the stops. We headed straight to our room after filling up our mugs. No one needed snacks tonight!

DSCF0718.jpg

Skye took a picture of her fan she bought.

DSCF0719.jpg

We cleaned up and set up for the morning and all hit the sack!

July 20th started early! Good thing we got to bed semi-early.

At 7:17am we were standing on a bus to Magic Kingdom. At 7:40am we were entering the Magic Kingdom.

Then we headed towards Fantasyland. Pooh was down and they did not know when it would be up. Seven Dwarfs was down too! at 8:07am we were in line for Peter Pan (stand-by said 15 minutes). We loved the new line set up!

We stopped in at Gaston's for breakfast.

DSCF0734.jpg

DSCF0736.jpg

We got three cinnamon loafs and a LeFou's Brew.

DSCF0739.jpg

DSCF0740.jpg

These are THE best cinnamon rolls. Tyler gets one and we share the other two. And then Tyler finished whatever we don't finish. Since it was so early they were super warm and fresh. We like the brew too but it is VERY sweet so one is enough for all of us!

And somehow I have NO receipts for this day. WHAT?!?!?! I must have pulled them out and put them somewhere preparing to write up this day and now I don't remember where I put them!!! So I'm gonna wing it...

TOTAL = $20.19 approx.

We headed to the Under the Seas ride. Stand-by posted was 5 minutes. It was a walk through. We started our walk through at 8:46am and were walking off at 8:59am. Fun as always...better without a wait!

Um, ya, another ride two full sized adults should not ride together...and the CMs will not suggest to you that you are going to have an uncomfortable ride and that you might want to ride in separate cars...duh!

We walked past the circus train cars of circus animals...

We were done on Splash at 10:42 (our fast pass return time was not until 10.:35am so we wasted a little time beforehand using the restroom and taking pics around the kiddie area and others in the area.

Tyler was just getting off Pirates around the same time so we met in the middle. We had some time until out next fast pass so we decided it was time for lunch.

So we headed to Pecos Bill's Tall Tale Inn for lunch. Since it was just opening, there were no crowds yet. Tyler decided he didn't want anything yet...he's not a huge Mexican food person unless it is ground beef, lettuce, and cheese in a flour tortilla or a plain cheese quesadilla...so he decided to wait.

I got the Beef Nachos - tortilla chips topped with seasoned ground beef, tomatoes and lettuce.

DSCF0828.jpg

And piled on the extras from the toppings bar. This was huge! And very good...especially when you get the use of the toppings bar! I would definitely get this again!

Cary got the Beef Burrito - with barbacoa beef, cilantro rice and beans.

DSCF0830.jpg

When you get it it is just a flour shell with the beef, rice and beans...you add whatever else you want at the toppings bar. He went with salsa, cheese, and sour cream. This was also a huge portion. You only get one but it is plenty! He really liked this.

Skyler got the kid's Macaroni & Cheese - with grapes and carrots, small water.

DSCF0829.jpg

It was the soupy kind of mac & cheese so she was instantly lamenting having no fries to dip but otherwise she liked her food.

We also got one large coke to share.

DSCF0831.jpg

We all really liked the change in Pecos Bill's. It was not a place we frequented in it's previous life but as you can see we are not usually the burger/nugget kind of people so when that was what it served, it was a take it or leave it kind of place. Pecos Bill's is connected to Tortuga Tavern, which used to serve the current Pecos Bill's menu but it was only open seasonally so you could never know if it would be open when you were there or not. I like the change in menu and we will be back!

TOTAL = $37.12

After lunch we walked to Pirates but the posted wait time was 65 minutes...nope!

DSCF0832.jpg

DSCF0834.jpg

We saw a little of the Pirate Tutorial but there is no shade to stand and watch so we didn't stay long.

DSCF0835.jpg

Then we looked at the Jungle Cruise but the poste wait time there was 60 minutes...nope!

DSCF0836.jpg

DSCF0837.jpg

DSCF0840.jpg

So we went back to use our fast passes for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (return time 11:50am - 12:50am) but the fast pass line was all the way back to the Briar Rabbit store!!! It must have been down at some point in the day. So we decided to take a boat to Tom Sawyer's Island.

DSCF0855.jpg

DSCF0857.jpg

DSCF0858.jpg

DSCF0859.jpg

It was super hot now and we were hoping some shade would work in cooling us off a bit. We had not been over there in a while, I don't even know if Skyler had ever been over there before this trip! The kids loved it. Walking around and through dark tunnels and finding where they were going. There were people over there but not many. And while cooler, the shady trees were not doing much to cool us down. At some point I rolled up the bottom of my shirt...that's how hot it was...I am not someone who should be handing her belly out in public but by that time, I just didn't care! So we hung out there for a while. There was a photopass photographer on the barrel bridge.

After a while we headed back to the mainland to use out fast passes. We almost gave up and decided not to worry about it but then the line started moving really fast so we were staying. It was 12:40pm when we got in line. As we approached the fast pass scanning post, a CM in a blue vest (so I assume management of some sort) who was sweeping up told me I had to pull my shirt down due to park regulations...as three young women in sports bra type tops and shorts so short their cheeks were visible walked past her!!! I was livid!!! So basically she was telling me because I am fat, I was not allowed to have my stomach showing but if I were cut and little it was quite ok to show belly and butt! I get maybe she was grossed out by my belly but there are a lot of thing people do in those parks that gross me out (changing a diaper NOT in a bathroom or letting your kids run around a water area naked or in their underwear, etc...) but no one is telling them they cannot do that. And the worst part was that if I was breaking some sort of dress code, so was almost every other person that had just walked past her! But she did not say anything to them!!! So while we waited for our ride I sent my e-mail complaint to Disney. I did not have her name but I had time and place and description. I did get a fairly quick reply apologizing and letting me know that what I described was not in violation of a dress code and that they would look into it. They also said they do no allow discrimination of any kind and are sorry for that also. Now when I got the photopass pictures back that I did not realize I was in the back of, I did see myself like that and it was BAD and I should not have been walking around like that...nothing worse that white fat staring at you but I was not breaking any rules. In fact, crop tops and things like that are coming back into style so if a bare midriff is a rule breaker, good luck with that! And I will be saving your eyes and NOT posting any pick that may reveal parts of me that should never see the sun! LOL

Once we were past the check point our wait was pretty minimal.

DSCF0860.jpg

DSCF0861.jpg

After the "Fast Train", as Tyler used to call it when he was little, he decided he was hungry so we headed in search of Tyler food!

The kids wanted Pinocchio's so we headed there (it was 1:15pm). They had lemon ice water and cups outside in the shade for people to help themselves to so we filled up out bottles and went in. It was a little crazy by the registers but it appeared to be a bunch of people hanging out deciding what they wanted. So we figured it out quickly and Cary and I went to order and the kids went to find a seat. Of course there were no where to be found when we were done getting food but I should have known where to look...

Skye got a lemon raspberry slushy in an Olaf cup. It was vey tart and not sweet at all.

DSCF0862.jpg

And a Kid's Cheese Flatbread with apples, drinkable yogurt, and a water.

DSCF0863.jpg

This was really good she said. Much better than a tiny kid's pizza that a lot of places used to serve.

We got an order of Breadsticks - with marinara sauce to share. They were soft and hot and garlic-y so we all loved them!

DSCF0865.jpg

And Tyler got a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich - served wit french fries.

DSCF0866.jpg

He said it was great! He did not let us try it so we have to take his word for it!

We also got a large coke to share.

DSCF0868.jpg

I did used to love the Figaro Fries and the chocolate milk shake served in little plastic cups that were keepable with an etching of the castle on the side (I think we had one of those for years after the last time we got one) but this version of Pinocchios is very good also.

I think we will be returning in the future.

So we left lunch and headed through the side of the castle.

She was very pretty and very in character. She asked Skyler about her brothers and asked her what kind of transportation she used to get around her kingdom. She told her about her horse. The photopass photographer took a ton of pictures too.

It was a great meet and I am glad we waited.

After visiting with Merida at walked to Main Street.

DSCF0872.jpg

We took our time and looked around the shops. We grabbed some Sorcerer cards at the fire station. We each got a pack. We did have our ones form last trip in the room but did not bring them with. We did not play right now though. We continued around Main Street window Shopping until Skyler picked up this phone...

DSCF0874.jpg

and was shocked to hear someone on it so called Tyler over to hear too.

After eaves dropping on someone's party line conversation we headed out to the bus stop. As we were approaching a half full bus pulled away. So at 2:43pm we were waiting on another bus. About 3:06pm a bus finally pulled up.

We got back to Pop and it was raining a little but apparently they saw lightening somewhere so no pools were open. We changed anyway and then took a short nap.

When we woke up, Skye went to look over the ledge to see if the pool was open. It was so down we went.

I think Tyler has hopped a bus to Hollywood Studios and then to Caribbean Beach because he had heard that there were good Pokémon there. So he didn't go swim with us. By the time we were done swimming and back on the room changed, he got back and we headed back out.

I was really loving my water proof Fuji camera...

At 8:28pm we were back on a bus to Magic Kingdom. We arrived at 8:52pm and it was dinner time. We decided to head to Cosmic Ray's. We were let in through the back around the stores on Main Street and Wishes had started by the time we got back there...

DSCF0903.jpg

DSCF0904.jpg

When we got to Cosmic Ray's we were pleased to see it wasn't crowded. Then we realized why. Most of the windows were closed and they were serving a very limited menu. Which always makes me mad. Why don't the food vendors stay open until the parks close???

I decided on the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken - with Mashed Potatoes and green beans

DSCF0905.jpg

It was all really good. Skye snagged some green beans. Cary snagged some mashed potatoes. Tyler grabbed come chicken. There was plenty.

Skye got the kid's Chicken Nuggets with fries, grapes, and a water

DSCF0906.jpg

Which she liked. There was plenty for her and I even think Tyler snagged a nugget.

Tyler just got a hot dog and fries that I don't even see on the menu now...

DSCF0907.jpg

It was a hot dog. He likes hot dogs. They just didn't have much else he felt like ordering and I had told him he could share my chicken so he was good.

Cary had the Barbecued Pork Bacon Cheeseburger - with french fries.

DSCF0908.jpg

which he really liked. It was kinds hard to eat and a lot of the pork fell off but it was good on it's own and on top of the fries.

We also ordered one large coke.

Overall, this is a decent place to eat...when all menu options are available. The kids like Sonny Eclipse and always seem to find a table near him.

DSCF0909.jpg

DSCF0910.jpg

Usually this is a place we will stop if there is nothing else open. They have a general basic menu though so if you're looking for mostly basic park kind of food, this is your place. The chicken is probably their stand out here.

Total = $52.13

After dinner we headed to Frontierland and found places along the rope across from Diamond Horseshoe to wait out the Main Street Electrical Parade (at 9:49pm). A lady in a scooter along the walkway let Skye sit down on the ground next to her chair saying her daughter was with her but she would sit on the chair with her when she returned.

DSCF0911.jpg

We got to watch the CMs try to explain to people why they couldn't just stand in the walk way and wait for her to close it off when the parade started. And try to get the attention of two young adult girls standing on a ledge who were obviously ignoring her until she actually walked over to them and almost had to pull them down because they were not going to hear her no matter how close she was to them. OMG people are so ignorant!

DSCF0916.jpg

DSCF0918.jpg

DSCF0922.jpg

The parade was awesome as usual and by the time it started Cary and Tyler were able to get up with Skye and me to be able to see better.

At 10:39pm we were in line for the Jungle Cruise. Somewhere a long the line I must have pulled fast passes for it because my notes say we were in the fast pass line.

At 11:07pm we were in line for the Magic Carpets.

At 11:16pm we were in line at the candy store for a bag of cotton candy for Skyler.

TOTAL = $4.67

DSCF0923.jpg

Tyler decided to stay for a little while. We were heading back to Pop. We got to the bus stop at 11:27pm. at 11:53pm we were on a bus STANDING...oof!

We got back to Pop and headed straight to bed. Tyler got back around 1:30am. He said he rode Pirates, Big Thunder three times and hunted Pokémon.

On July 21st we all got up, did our thing and headed for refills and a bus.

At 8:29am we were at the stop waiting on an Epcot bus to arrive. We got to Epcot

and were in line to enter the park at 8:52.

I had not known today was an extra magic hour day (darn it!) so we lost that time but we soon realized it as the open turnstile next to us was calling out for resort guests. So we got through a little before the masses!

DSCF0927_1.jpg

We headed straight for Test Track. The posted wait time was 55 minutes. We got in line at 9:02am.

We were off at 9:28am. Ty and Skye's car won. I like this newer version of this ride but I think I liked the old one better...but I'm not complaining...it's still a cool ride!

We headed across Future World to The Land. Soarin' was down!!! So we hit Seasons for breakfast.

DSCF0937.jpg

It was not crowded in there at all and there was plenty of seating available. Usually it is crowded and crazy in there!

I got the kid's Breakfast Platter - scrambled eggs, bacon, and cinnamon French toast bread pudding and a small chocolate milk.

DSCF0933_1.jpg

This was VERY good for a kid's meal and enough food for a breakfast meal. Everyone was jealous! THe French Toast bread pudding was really good! I would definitely get this again (however, I think I have heard that they have stopped serving breakfast???). My eggs got snatched up on by a couple of greedy hands and I shared my bacon but those freaks wanted nothing to do with my bread pudding and that was fine with me!

Cary for a Cherry Danish and a coffee.

DSCF0934.jpg

It was soft and fresh and a good Danish...what more is there to say. The coffee was coffee.

Tyler was pleased to see they had a cinnamon roll that was not the dry flaky kind that everyone changed to a while ago.

DSCF0935_1.jpg

This one was more along the lines of Gaston's but not as large and fluffy. He enjoyed it.

Skyler got a cheese Danish and a fruit cup.

DSCF0936.jpg

Again, it was a good Danish. The fruit was rips and cold and sweet so all is good.

The receipt says we actually got two fruit cups but I don't know about that...I normally would not think we would do that so I am inclined to think that we were charged for something we did not get. CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS PEOPLE! I wasn't paying, Cary was.

We also got one coke to share. You can refill here so one should suffice right?

This was overall a god breakfast albeit not a cheap one.

TOTAL = $27.83

By this time Soarin' was running and the stand-by time was listed at 60 minutes. We entered the fast pass lane at 10:12am and we done soaring at 10:43am. As we were walking off we glanced at the stand-by sign and it was up to 80 minutes.

We headed up to use our Spaceship Earth fast passes next (return time 11:10am).

DSCF0938.jpg

Stand-by was listed at 30 minutes. We got in line at 11:07am and were off by 11:28am. Our pictures in the future were not working so no fun e-mail to send home.

We stopped off in Club Cool for a bit after Spaceship Earth and spent some time exploring Coke around the World. Nobody would agree to drink the Beverly.

Our fast passes for Figment were coming up (return time 12:15pm) so we headed that way. I don't care what anyone says, we love this ride. Now, I do not remember ever seeing the previous version so maybe that's the difference. When we arrived the stand-by sign said 25 minutes but there was no one in there so at 11:52am we walked through the stand-by line and got right on. We were outta there by 12:06pm.

DSCF0940.jpg

This never has a line...the fast pass was chosen just because this is the cruddiest park for fast pass choices!

At this point we headed into World Showcase.

I love reading your trip report. You were there about a week after we were. I especially am jealous of your food through Epcot. We didn't get to see much of World Showcase last time, but I plan to remedy that with a trip next summer.

So today marks 10 days till we're at it again!!!! I am thinking I am not going to get this one done before we leave for the next one...BOO!

Our first order of business upon entering the World Showcase was bathrooms...and right next to that is the Refreshment Port. Do you know what they have at the Refreshment Port????

Croissant Doughnut - with soft serve ice cream!!!

DSCF0943.jpg

So we grabbed one to share (they were all getting tired of the work "SHARE" by now!) and sat on a bench to enjoy it...and enjoy it, WE DID! This was really good. Flaky and texture of a crossaint. Cinnamony, sugary, shaped like a doughnut. Topped with vanilla Ice Cream...yes, yes, yes!

TOTAL = $6.69

We had some friends wanting to help us eat our snack too...

DSCF0944.jpg

But it was way too good to share with ducks so they got none!

Skye had been complaining about her hip hurting all morning and she was limping a little. She had been having a little bit of a problem in classes lately with extension and such so we did not want her stressing it out needlessly. SO we stopped at the International Gateway and got a wheel chair for her. It was $12.00.

So we strolled on through France...

DSCF0945.jpg

And Japan...

DSCF0946.jpg

DSCF0948.jpg

Oh, no...this was not a hardship for her. As active and capable as she is, she is the kid that if I would lug a stroller, she'd use it!

Cary grabbed a Calpico Strawberry drink from Mitsukoshi.

DSCF0950.jpg

It was really refreshing but very sweet too.

TOTAL = $4.25

We sat in the shad of the overhang in Japan for a while. I think Tyler had run to exchange his charger and it was really getting hot so we just relaxed and people watched.

Once Tyler returned we headed to check in for lunch.
