Food and Wine? Sounds Divine! An October TR - 12/2 A PTR Link!

These pictures are really making me so excited for our stay there next october!

Your DH walking through the glass door was hilarious, I would have laughed too, poor Daniel!

Your flatbread looked great but looks can sure be deceiving. I'll just have the zebra domes next time I go.

That is the one thing I disliked about the rental car, is the music. I guess I could have hooked up my ipod to the stereo and played my Disney list through there. Dangit! That's such a good idea that, of course, I would come up with right now!:rotfl2:

That is exactly what we do ....... we bring our favourite disney tunes on CD (about 10 of them - or we use the memory stick we have with Disney music) and it runs in the rental all the time. Had some fun comments from valets parking our car! :rotfl2:

As for your update ......
We love the food at the Mara. During our longer vacations we usually drive out there, eat at the Mara (or Sanaa) and hang out in the lobby for some time. So awesome.
Your food looks pretty good. Love your DH's "african" choice of chicken nuggets. :lmao:

Wow! They used to sell the Zebra Domes in a quantity of six. Only 4 now I see. You are right, they are filling - but so yummy. ;)

Okay and I hope your DH won't be cross, but I nearly died laughing about the glass door accident. :rotfl:
And your DMs comment about the big hole was so fun too!
Seems like you shared a lot of laughter on your trip. :goodvibes

The Uzima Springs pool bar had some people. DH of course high-tailed it over to check out the sports situation
Priorities. :thumbsup2

And DH didn’t get the African Stew or the Falafel. Nothing ‘African-inspired’ about his dish at all aside from the couscous. Chicken Breast Nuggets! Aye! DM absolutely loved her pita!
I think I know why the CM laughed when he finally ordered... 5 minutes to decide to stick with the chicken nuggets. :thumbsup2 :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

No, it wasn’t good. Not one bit.
Maybe you should have gone for the chicken nuggets? :confused3

We all slowly ate our food and watched some Big Bang Theory (Bazinga!).
:thumbsup2

We hung out there for about 5 minutes chatting and then DH turned to go inside and BAM!!! Ran right into the glass door and the slam took DH back and it pushed him back up into the railing.
  Those Mongolian's are still working, huh? :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

And then DM proceeded to ask, a question that ended our night:

DM: “Won’t the animals fall down into that hole out there since it’s so dark out?” Me: “Um. What hole, where?”
DM: “There! Right in the middle of all the trees.”
Me: “Yeah, that’s a pond….”
DM: “….Time for bed, huh?”
Me: “Yep, I think so.”
Well if she couldn't see a pond, I certainly hope you made sure the door was open for her. :lmao::rotfl2:

I love the idea of a quiet evening hanging out at AKL - it's such a beautiful resort, amazing theming there :goodvibes

Sorry to your DH... but I have a really childish sense of humour, and couldn't help chuckling at the glass door story! :rotfl:

Emma princess: x

OMG I would pee my pants from laughing so hard if DH walked into the sliding glass door. That is hysterical. Glad he wasn't hurt though.

Your flatbread and zebra domes look amazing. I am currently starving and cooking dinner right now and these pictures are making me not want what I am cooking. :rotfl2:

Sitting on the balcony right now on a quiet night watching the animals sounds so relaxing.

Hi! I know it's been quite a long time since I've commented. I've been lurking while doing homework and lesson planning for school. :teacher:

I'm so sad to hear about the poor lab and your Percy. Is he fully back to normal now?

Also, I love seeing all these pictures of Calvin! He is the cutest thing and it's really fun watching him grow :goodvibes

I'm really enjoying all the AKV pictures and information, too. My husband and I bought AKV at Disneyland in 2011 and we still haven't been back since we've been owners. We finally planned a trip for May as a celebration of my finally graduating college and because, since I will be starting teaching in the fall, it will be the last time we will be able to go to WDW when the crowds are low and kids are in school. Until then, I'm just trying to get by on some TRs :rotfl:

Question for you on the split stay: We are booked May 18-23 at BWV and May 23-28 at AKV. I made ADRs this morning for the BWV portion of our trip, but it wouldn't let me make any for after checkout time at BWV. Do I have to wait until the 180 days mark for AKV to make the ADRs for the second part of my trip? I thought you might know since you're a split stay veteran now :worship: haha!

Oh my goodness that was funny! Poor DH :rotfl:

Why in the universe is the Mara SO COLD!? I feel like I'm walking into the arctic tundra when I go in there! I'm thinking we've talked about this before because it feels very familiar

Love that Jambo House lobby and pool :lovestruc

My SiL loved that chicken flatbread, got it several times on our trip.

I am ridiculously behind, but I promise to get caught up. Enjoyed your last update, especially DH walking into the door. Priceless. :rotfl: I loved my last stay at AK. It was lovely.

Now I am going to start reading backwards.

Ok - read a bit more - backwards of course.

Hippo butt - too funny! :rotfl2: There were no hippos in there when I visited. Boo. I waited and waited and nothing.

Great PP pics at AK. Very nice.

Your little guy is getting so big. He is just adorable.

What an awesome view for a value 1 BR. What exactly is value about that room? Is it just slight smaller? We had a standard view 2BR lock-off with a great savannah view. I can't understand why anyone would complain about that view. It was such an unexpected bonus.

Ah, I love that lobby in AKL too. So comfortable. Wish I were reading the Disboards there right now... :rotfl:

I just want to reach through this screen and grab your food! Especially the Zebra Domes! That would be the perfect late-night snack right now!

We had that African Stew once, by the way. It was quite tasty. But I'm sure the nuggets were tasty too. ;)

I'm glad he had such a sense of humor about running into the door! :lmao: And, you just know, down there somewhere in the savanna was a giraffe silently laughing along. ::yes::

Fantastic evening hanging out at AKL. You're such a great wife retelling the story about DH walking into the door. That's the sort of thing I would re-tell as well. :rotfl:

Great food porn.

:rotfl2: We were both dying! It was the funniest thing ever!

That is exactly what we do ....... we bring our favourite disney tunes on CD (about 10 of them - or we use the memory stick we have with Disney music) and it runs in the rental all the time. Had some fun comments from valets parking our car!

Such a good idea with the Disney music! I'm absolutely going to have to remember this for next time. I have 691 songs on my Disney Playlist which includes BGM, Resort music and of course the classic songs. I'm sure DH would hate me if I brought the music along with me since i'm sure he gets bored of the music at home when I listen to it :lmao:

Did there used to be 6 Zebra Domes in one package?! I couldn't even eat half of this package!

Please! Laugh your booty off! :rotfl2::lmao: It was too funny!

I think I know why the CM laughed when he finally ordered... 5 minutes to decide to stick with the chicken nuggets. :thumbsup2 :

:rotfl2: I wish he would have gotten the stew or something after wasting all her time!

Maybe you should have gone for the chicken nuggets? :confused3

Maybe I was being too sarcastic. I LOVED the flatbread!

 Those Mongolian's are still working, huh?

There was no excuse for him this time! That alcohol had clearly left his system by this time:rotfl2:

Well if she couldn't see a pond, I certainly hope you made sure the door was open for her. :rotfl2:

I made sure it was wide open for her! :rotfl:

I love the idea of a quiet evening hanging out at AKL - it's such a beautiful resort, amazing theming there :goodvibes

Sorry to your DH... but I have a really childish sense of humour, and couldn't help chuckling at the glass door story!

It was so nice hanging back at the hotel. We usually never do. I always want to be on the go, so it was a nice change.

Oh i'm extremely childish, which is why I didn't hold back my laughter when this happened! :lmao:

OMG I would pee my pants from laughing so hard if DH walked into the sliding glass door. That is hysterical. Glad he wasn't hurt though.

Sitting on the balcony right now on a quiet night watching the animals sounds so relaxing.

I almost did pee my pants! I really wish everyone could have seen it. It was such a dramatic hit and hilarious!

Don't you hate looking at Food Porn when you're hungry? I'll be reading others TR with food at work, and i'll look down at what i'm eating and it's a crappy apple :lmao:

Hi! So good to see you again! I was actually looking at my subscribed threads list the other day and noticed your TR hasn't been updated in sooo long. But i'm glad to see you back on!:)

Oooh you have a nice, long trip coming up in 6 months! You know what, i'm not sure! I've never had to make reservations for two split stays before - I've only ever made reservations for one of the stays and we usually do CS for the other reservation. I would call and see if you can make ADRS for your AKV reservation :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: I have no idea! I mean, I understand it being like that during the Summer. But I remember back in December, when it was chilly, it was the exact same temperature in there! I feel bad for the CM's who have to work the registers. You know they're freezing!

The flatbread was soooo good! It was the perfect dish for that night.

You confused me! I thought it was sarcasm when I first read it but then in the picture it looked like you just kind of picked at it and left most of it on the plate. If it was something I loved, the picture would be of an empty plate!.

Mary Ellen so great to see you back! Hope you're getting back into the swing of things fine :goodvibes

The bedroom felt SO much smaller than the bedroom at Kidani. We could barely walk around in there or set up DS's pack n play. But honestly, I was so happy with our view, I could have cared less about the space. I guess I should be grateful for those who complained otherwise I probably would have never got that view:thumbsup2

Oh man, I wish I was in the lobby right now too, Dis'ing. Sounds like heaven :cloud9:

I really wish DH would have gone with the stew. It sounded really good, but I had my mind set on the flatbread, otherwise I would have ordered it.

Fantastic evening hanging out at AKL. You're such a great wife retelling the story about DH walking into the door. That's the sort of thing I would re-tell as well. :rotfl:

:rotfl2::rotfl: It's too funny not to share with others!

Today was going to be a fantastic day. I just knew it. I knew it because it was our first official Food & Wine day at Epcot! :cool1: I had set up some FP+ attractions for us that day, in case we were interested.

I woke up around 6:30am and got the coffee started and woke DH up after. He acted like he was going to get up and get ready, but this is where he went instead :lmao:

I take it back! Upon closer look, he did manage to put his polo on, so kudos!

I headed out to the balcony to check out the activity going on outside.

Not much going on outside. Maybe that big whole swallowed all the animals up!
:rotfl2:

Channeling my inner Cynthia (eandesmom). It’s not black, but there is coffee in there!:thumbsup2

I did manage to drink my coffee on the balcony for a few minutes enjoying the peace and quiet. I want these in my backyard

And then I spotted some activity, but you have to play a game of “Where’s the Wild Animal?” I’ll give you a sec to play….

Queue Jeopardy music…….

Ready for the reveal?!

Hey, I was happy I got to see anything!

I headed back inside to check on DS because he was still in his Pack n’Play. He was very happy and smiley! Today was definitely going to be a great day.

In between making breakfast and getting ready, DH took DS out onto the balcony because there was a cool looking bird outside (excited for anything at this point since there were no big animals out!)

After breakfast and stocking the diaper bag with all the essentials, we were leaving our room at 9:18.

Not too bad. I would have liked to have been out the door at 9, but I knew we would still make it to Test Track, so down to the bus stop we went. I took a picture of DS while waiting

and literally 5 seconds after this picture, our bus pulled up. We only ended up waiting about 6 minutes for the bus. Very nice!

Bus ride was short and uneventful. Perfect!

I took this picture mostly for the time stamp. This was as we were walking towards the ticketing windows – 9:56am

And it was my first time seeing this display in person!

Of course some ‘professional’ shots were in order. I like this one because DS is waving. Unfortunately, it’s covering DM’s face LOL

I think DS is scowling in the last picture. He’s ready to do something. Let’s go do something then! On our way to Test Track we go!

Duh I so didn't get the flatbread sarcasm!

Yay food and wine festival at long last, I can't wait to hear what you ate and drank :)

Epcot! How fantastic. Looking forward to it.

Great pics of the family. But I have to ask....how did DH pull up on this morning after walking into the glass?

I woke up around 6:30am and got the coffee started and woke DH up after. He acted like he was going to get up and get ready, but this is where he went instead :lmao:
So when is he going to set up his account here so he can defend himself??? :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Channeling my inner Cynthia (eandesmom). It’s not black, but there is coffee in there!:thumbsup2
:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Hey, I was happy I got to see anything!
Well, it beats a lizard on your balcony railing. :confused3 :rotfl:

Of course some ‘professional’ shots were in order. I like this one because DS is waving. Unfortunately, it’s covering DM’s face LOL
With a kid that age, perfection is hard to come by. Nice pictures though. :thumbsup2

I think DS is scowling in the last picture. He’s ready to do something. Let’s go do something then! On our way to Test Track we go!
Gee, thanks mom. Let's go do something I can't do. :rolleyes1
