Hakuna Matata - Marching in like Lions!

OK I finally found March, work has been a bit busy but what else is new for me. Been good and hitting the TM and bike in the morning, doing weights at night when I get home and do some chores.

Finally a nice day here, sunny and upper 40's , went home to find a motor bike for the afternoon, but also found a big strip of ice 6" thick yet in the drive so I have a project for tonight as we might have some nice days here this week.

Dave, LOL you got off easy want my Tax Bill, I should at least get a a ride in a F-18 or submarine...

Scott maybe we can get one of the illegal aliens we are supporting to come over and clean our houses.

I just took a nap and woke up sore all over. I think the stick and a trip to the health clubs hot tub are in order.

Kimmer, Syko, we are the poster children for insanity.

Dave:hippie:

Good Afternoon Team!

Really busy at work. Looking forward to tonight's run. Need to clear the mind.

Kristy, What a drag about the bank card issues. Hope they can clear it up quickly.

Jen, Congrats your fantastic race!

Dave, Glad to see you have commited to Goofy, again. I still haven't come to terms with not going the Disney in Jan.

Margie, Are you still making it to the gym really early?

Have a great evening everyone........Sue

Catching up here, re my new log -
Date, weight, anaerobic exercise, then Aerobic exercise areas, ( keeps me aware of the need to do both), a reading section - (I want to read more and less TV). Good eating - ie fruits etc and a bad eating i.e Girl Scout cookies. That is about it.

Nick and I did some sit ups and push ups again today. I really want to improve my core without straining anything. Between my sciatic problems and kidney problems, it needs some tlc.

Does anyone have easy core strengthening workouts to help build it up?

Hope the only ab exercise I do is one called waist vacuuming. It works very well and isn't hard on your body at all. You can also literally do it any time at all.

While standing up tighten your abs as hard as you can and hold for a few secounds and release, repeat for about 25 reps to start and work up to 50. Each rep is equal to a situp.

Dave:hippie:

Sue, Thanks! I've been beating myself up a little over how I should have PR'd considering how fast the course is. But I'm also only 21 days out from a marathon.

Margie, Track is coming together. We're more tortoise than hares, but we also have a lot of young runners who are really committed. I'll definitely be in the same district next year. I'm Teach for America so it's a two year commitment. After that I'm hoping to now move to Lousiana (most likely a charter school in New Orleans). I've fallen in love with that state, but we'll see. I plan to go back and get my Masters/PhD in Political Science in about 3 more years, maybe soooner.

6 miles in 50 minutes today. 19 days until my next marathon. I talked to several people and the overwhelming comment I got was that the lack of BQ is in large part related to a fueling issue, not a training/ability issue. So I'm doing a carb deplete/carb load system the week before.

Best,
Jennifer

Good Morning everyone

Snow again!!! Where is this global warming they speak of? Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

Good Morning Team! :wave2:

Sunshine is so nice no matter the temperature. It lifts the spirits.

Connie-Feel Better!

Seriously: While standing up tighten your abs as hard as you can and hold for a few seconds and release, repeat for about 25 reps to start and work up to 50. Each rep is equal to a sit-up.

Dave, Jennifer, Kim, and Kristy- WTG Go Goofy!

Denise & Lynn :grouphug:

Jack-Snow :upsidedow

Jennifer- Just think you are their ‘first’ inspiration-guiding light. It takes time to build the technique, strength, stamina, and muscles…they have many years to develop before they reach peak performance! Louisiana (?) only drive bys so I am not familiar with the state.

Hope- I think I too will add a bit of Panda’s core vacuuming…sounds a bit like cleaning house.

MaryJ- must admit I like the chiropractor too…I had to go to one for about 4 months when I got knocked off my bike. Okay, I have a Trek with stirrups. I was so caught off guard I did not get my foot out in time to catch myself. The little girl ran into my side – she was not hurt as she hit my leg.

Mike- how are you runs-getting any easier?

Pam, Robert, & Shannan- :grouphug:

Scott- Okay – I need more information than that! Date – got it; Weight (body weight? Do you weigh daily? Or do you mean weight training?) Anaerobic exercise (what are you doing for this?) Aerobic (running, TM, bike, jumping rope, skating, skiing, snow boarding, dancing, any activity that keeps your heart rate up); Reading; Food Log

Sue- Hope you had a good run last night. I am not going to the gym as early, but early, so I can be back before the little guys arrive. When my little Hagen sleeps over I am not able to go to the gym, so I juggle schedule and try to use that for my rest day.

Vicky-

AFM: Gym this morning-elliptical 20 minutes, lower body weights

Enjoy the moments!

It was 31 degrees with blowing snow flurries here this morning but I took Team Panda out for a hard 8 miler along the river. We did the 8 at an 11:15 pace, that's not much for our runners but it's a good pace for walkers on a cold morning on the hills.

Dave:hippie:

Food I list good choices i.e ate fruit instead of a stack of thin mints, or ate two stacks of thin mints. Anaerobic for me is weight training, usually upper body one day and lower the next, I would add sit-ups and pushup there , On an old one I had BP (blood Pressure) just to keep an eye on it,

Hope that helps,

Hi Team,

You guys lost me there as was still posting on last months thread. Embarassing being the new guy!!:confused3
Got my program workouts all this week and Liz (wifey) has upped her time while doing hers. She is really sticking with it.
Our little guy Robert has developed a fever and I hope he is better by tomorrow as it is Grandparents day at his preshcool.

-------------
Don't know if you saw my last post on the old thread, but I read that the Disney buses have changed their routes to the ESPN sports center (formerly Wide World of Sports). The route from the Studios is discontinued and they added routes to the All Stars and Pop Century Resorts (Carribean Beach also, I think). Yes!! It makes it so much easier for me when we need to pick up our race packets!!
-------------
Warm March thoughts to all, Mike:cool2:

Mike worry not I usually miss the month switchover/

Jennifer you are still rocking those miles.

Hope I sleep tonight.

Good Morning Team! :wave2:

Sunshine is so nice no matter the temperature. It lifts the spirits.
Jack, no new snow for us since Saturday!

Connie- hope you are feeling better today.

Dave- Extra Nice-Very Impressive that the Panda Team’s pace is the same.
Team Panda out for a hard 8 miler along the river. We did the 8 at an 11:15 pace!
How many of the Team Members regularly walk together? It is hard to find one person close to the same pace to walk with around here. :upsidedow

Jennifer- Nice Run! ::yes::

Denise, Jack, Hope, Kim, Lynn, MaryJ, Pam, & Robert - :rainbow:

Kristy- okay I have to ask-‘What is an hour on the roller?’ :confused3

Mike- hope DS, Robert is better this morning! It’s so hard when the little ones are sick. The nights seem to be the worse. Tell DW, Liz we said WTG! (It took me a bit to catch onto all these abbreviations...and some I still have to ask!)

Scott- Do you take BP medication? I chart my BP daily at the doctor request. I rotate my weight workouts too. I use some weight machines along with the dumbbells, bars, and smith machine. I concentrate one day on upper body next day on lower body, next day ABS then start the rotation over. I usually do 20-30 minutes on the elliptical when I go to the gym. I use the band and try to get my stretching in at home. When weather permit will start biking outside. I have avoided the DM since the last training 20 miler.

Truly Healthy Snacks: What is everyone's favorite. Apples, nuts, celery with, etc

Sue- What Ya doin? :goodvibes

Vicky- Where are you! On vacation, snowed in, hope you are not sick! :upsidedow

AFM: worked out yesterday with the Women’s Basketball coach from Western Michigan. She’s a neat TALL lady & I was impressed! Going to the gym this morning. Then the boys & I are taking a friend and her daughter to the airport. They are checking out a college in Mississippi with a Dance program. :upsidedow

Enjoy the moments!

WTG Margie that must have been some workout!!!

Kristy: I love Ghost Hunters. I would love to have been picked to do the academy that would have been awesome.

Margie I've been training those guys for over a year and since we walk together at least once a week we walk well together. There are 4 of us in Bowling Green and another in nashville and of course we have Syko now. You meet the guy from Nashville, he is the guy who was with me at the half that stayed with you and Connie with me. If you remember his name is Dan.

I'm headed off for a pool workout. Have to keep the bod in shape don't cha know.

Scott, is it spring yet?

Everyone have a magical day.

Dave:hippie:

Margie The roller is the tread mill for me, and I hate it, but watchinh GH did help, I must remember to roll on wednesday nights!

My entry for the princess: came through, and even though I have one chair that can't go on the road and one thats not safe, I will be racing.

I'm friends with the lead cycle escort for WDW races and have warned him that i'm brining the not safe chair, and don't be surprized if I crash.:lmao:

Normaly I would not risk it, but its a sponsors race and the last one I have before Boston, and I really need to try the new chair out in a compertation.

As for snacks, I don't snack!
