Mardi Gras 2023. Laissez les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll). Parades, King Cake, Cursed Club, Voodoo Dolls, Food, Rocket Ships and more

I loved Scooby andGang doing their MardiGras meet greet too!
Scooby and the Gang are always so nice. They are so sweet to the little ones.

It is amazing the creativity and fun attitude the Team Members share non-stop with guests plus discounts are always Yes instead of Disney sorry no . I guess that explains why the locals love Universal Studios Orlando so much .
You are right Universal Team Members are the best. Universal really treats their Passholders well.

Universal has a loyal following of fans for sure.

Looking forward to the opening of Epic Universe.

The design of the Tribute Store reminded me of a mix of Art Deco, Dark New Orleans Jazz Club vibe.

It is really nice how Universal has set up a way for people to become a part of the Tribute Store scenery. There is a cost, but it seems to be a hit.

I noticed the folks on the two bottles on the right from Youtube. She is a lovely lady and that is her husband I believe. They are Youtube vloggers. She does videos of Universal and Disney and other amusement parks around the Country.

I swear one of these times I’m going to get that fleur de lis brownie. It looks like a chocoholic’s dream. I love all the colors of Mardi Gras on the treats.

I enjoy those YouTube vloggers as well… Jackie and Sam from SuperEnthused.

There were some interesting things in the dessert case. I always say I’am going to get something and don’t. That will be on my list of things to do.

Universal Chefs have done a great job of coming up with desserts for the various events. The the desserts are very colorful and tempting.

I enjoy those YouTube vloggers as well… Jackie and Sam from SuperEnthused.
Thank you, I could not remember their names. I have seen a couple of their videos. My sister saw Jackie on Youtube a couple of years ago after seeing a video on HHN that Jackie did.

I then ran into Jackie at Confisco Grille AP diningroom during HHN that same year and she is as nice in person as she is on her videos.

You got some great photos in a dark setting !
The day I walked thru a TM was asking for the password to enter the speakeasy and then he would say “… is not here “
I have been so pleased with the camera on my Apple 12 Pro Max. That is what I use for all my photos. It really adjusts to take good photos in all lighting.

That is interesting on the password.

I totally agree with you! I ran into her (and Sam) walking along Citywalk. I just said hello and she stopped to chat awhile. As you said, she was exactly like she was in her videos. Seems very genuine.

Can’t wait to read more of your TR!

If you have never seen the Monster Make Up Show at Universal you are really missing out on a fun show. I always try and make it to at least one show on each visit.

I did buy the food and beverage card. I bought the UOAP $150.00 card for $120.00. That I thought was the best deal as the card never expire’s and I could use the unused portion in the future when I returned to the parks.

You can also get your AP discount on all the food purchases.

I ordered the Baja Shrimp Cerviche Tostada
52517F9B-A928-4BE5-A26A-CB7F2243332F.jpeg

The photo makes them look much bigger than they were. They are small and there is only a couple of very small shrimp on them. I wanted to clarify that this is a tasting menu and in no way a meal. These tasting options I think work out better if there are two people. it would be possible to taste a few things in one go as the portions are so small and easily shared. You could sample more things that way.

The throw away plate that the Tostadas were served on was very sturdy. Not your typically paper plate.

The picture shows the corn tortilla as green, but they are indeed blue and are crispy. The Avocado Crema was delicious.

There is plenty of seating in this area to sit and enjoy your food.

The picture is a bit blurry, but I bit into one and it tasted undercooked. The outside looked crisp, but when I tried it tasted raw and there was a tiny piece of chicken in it.

There were 4 of them and had they been cooked through It might have been good. I threw them away.

It is so nice that Universal has a really good selection of Characters out and about to greet visitors.

I have always liked Shrek, Donkey and Fiona. They were out greeting fans.

The area where you could meet Shrek, Fiona and Donkey which was across from the Shrek Store was always a favorite of mine. I would stop and listen to Donkey interact with people. The Actor who was voicing Donkey was hysterical.

I remember on one particular day Donkey was on a role and put on a great show. Some Universal execs were walking around and they stopped and were laughing with everyone else.

Shrek was in the Mardi Gras mood with his beads and Fiona had her Mardi Gras feather boa on.

It is nice that Universal puts art up on the construction walls so you are not walking around looking at blank construction walls.

I did sample the Colombian Empanadas. I did get the one beef and one chicken. These are very small. did not get a photo. The dipping sauce was good. I‘am glad I sampled this dish, but I would not get it again.

It was a beautiful day to be walking around Universal. The sky was blue with a few wispy clouds and it was in the upper 70’s. Some more fun Mardi Gras displays.

Happy Mardi Gras! I kicked off my Fat Tuesday with some fastnachts from our local bakery.
Happy belated Mardi Gras to you too.

I had to look up what fastnachts were. They look like sugar donuts.

Love all of your pics! So nice to hear about the food… both the hits and the misses.
Thank you. I do enjoy taking photos.

After crossing over the bridge and taking photos of the food booths it was time to take a quick visit to Diagon Alley.

Wanted to take a quick moment and talk about the food booths. The food options during the Mardi Gras celebration have really grown in just the last 2 years. The food booths are open during the day and evening.

The day park attendees are buying food from the booths.

The reason I bought this up is that during HHN the food from the booths is only on offer in the evening on the days when the event is held. Not sure why Universal does not do a trial of offering the food for HHN during the day when the event is being held.

This would give day guests a chance to purchase the food. The food booths are very busy with long lines on the nights thats HHN is held. There are many of us who stay numerous days at the Resorts who do go to the parks during the day and there are day guests who go to the park during the day who do not attend HHN. Universal is missing out on those people purchasing food from the booths.

Just a thought.

Passing by Grimmwald Place wets your appetite for Diagon Alley.
FEDD739E-20B0-40C7-A6C3-E8F0DDC6650F.jpeg

It is one of the famous addresses for Potter fans. The address for one of the Order of Phoenix’s meeting places 12 Grimmauld Place.

Sirius Blacks family‘s old Georgian Terraced home which magically appears when Mad Eye Moody taps his walking stick on the ground a specified number of times and the bricks slide open to reveal the old home. The location of the home was protected by a Fidelius Charm.
DA114D7E-0ABA-40EB-8D53-177AFBE7DD98.jpeg

It‘s also the home of the mean House Elf Kreacher.

After Sirius Blacks death 12 Grimmwauld Place and its House Elf Kreacher were left to Harry Potter in the Will of Harrys Godfather Sirius.

Kreacher did eventually warm to Harry. He actually fought along side Harry and the other Hogwarts Elves against the Death Eaters and Voldemort at the battle of Hogwarts.

Another entrance to Diagon Alley. I remember a number of years ago when my older sister moved to the Orlando area full time. I told her she needed to go and see Diagon Alley.

She went and she called me and told me she could not find it. She was looking for a sign that designated the entry. After a bit of a chuckle I told her there was not supposed to be a sign. I directed her to the main entrance where as she walked in she could hear the bricks open.

There is that jaw dropping magical moment that happens as soon you walk in and look down the street and see the shops and the Dragon atop Gringotts Bank.

The main entrance was clogged so I went through the other way which is actually an exit. All the regulars know about this way in.

The Hopping Pot was really busy. There was a line so no Fishy Green Ale for me today. I like that drink. It is interestingly and bit of an odd flavor that actually is good. It tastes like cinnamon with a mild mint flavor and there is blueberry Boboa in the bottom of the drink.

It was busy and there were a lot of people in Diagon Alley. I decided to go have a look around Globus Mundi the Wizarding Worlds Travel Agency.

I think it is only proper if you are going to buy Wizard Luggage that you buy it at Globus Mundi.

They have luggage for all the Hogwarts Houses.

A little girl who had just walked in the Money Exchange with her parents saw me talk to the Goblin and heard him answer back. She was so surprised and she started asking the Goblin questions and had the best time. It was so cute to see her having so much fun.

To be conitnued
