A (Late) 30 Day Update!!!!
Sorry it has been so long since my last update! Let's just say things did NOT go well with my last fitting and I was scrambling/crying/having a nervous break down pretty much all of last week.
The seamstress decided she would take her own liberty in making sure my bustle was secure. So without asking us, she sewed through the TOP LAYER OF MY FREAKING DRESS. She basically sewed the top three layers of the dress together and put a weird clear bead in every place she sewed on the top of the dress. The clear bead isn't very noticeable... it's the HUGE patch she put around each bustle string that shows through the TOP of my dress. It pretty much looks like a bunch of band-aids stuck throughout. I cried my eyes out last Tuesday. I had to take it to a couple of local places before I found someone who would attempt to take one of them out. I watched as she took a knife to the tulle of my dress... but just like that one of the bustle ribbons/patches was GONE!!!! I'm supposed to pick it up from her on April 12th so I'm praying there are no holes in the top layer when she gets done!! I might post before and after pictures if everything turns out okay. It honestly pains me to look at pictures of the dress in its current state
Not to mention the first seamstress left holes all through the third layer of my dress (she moved all of the bustle ribbons, leaving holes where they used to be) and my dress was COVERED in black dog hair. The second alterations woman even said it smelt like dog
Needless to say I've set up a steaming appointment with Loftis productions for the day before the wedding.
Anyway, the pre-owned reception dress did come in and it is gorgeous and in overall excellent shape!!! It honestly doesn't look used at all. The only thing is the length is wayyyyy too long
so I'm taking it to another alterations place when they open back up on April 9th. It's our usual alterations spot, but he is out of town until then, so I'm hoping he can get it done in a week and a half
Other than that, the dress fits like a glove. It's kind of scary how perfect it fits
I've also gone on a recent veil buying spree. I decided to order a more intricate cathedral veil for the ceremony in case I have to hide any holes in the top layer. I'm not sure if it's going to be too much with my dress, so I won't know how it looks until I pick the dress up on the 12th. And I ordered a shorter veil with 3D embroidered flowers to match the reception dress.
Not 100% sure how I feel about this one. I'll have to see how it looks in person. I've also decided I'm going to wear my hair completely down on the wedding day. It just feels more natural because I NEVER wear my hair up. Like ever. I want to look like myself in photos. I don't know for sure about the MK portrait session yet. My hair doesn't always cooperate in the early morning Florida humidity... so I guess it will depend on the weather
I sent the final payment in on March 29th... so everything is FINALLY done and planned and now I can sit back and let it unfold!!! My planner is on vacation until April 15th without access to phone or email, so I'm glad I got all of the little details taken care of before she left.
BUT.... I added Cinderella's Coach back in about 30 minutes before I made the final payment
It was really nagging me that I would regret not having it because it is so Disney. Plus, I don't see us being the people to do a Disney vow renewal later down the road, so I feel like it's now or never. I still love the look of the vintage Rolls Royce, so my planner suggested we make the staged exit in the Coach, and then switch to the car in the parking lot and circle back around to the Pavilion so the guests can see us in that too. Then we will take the car to the GM Lounge. I'm finally satisfied with that set-up!!!
I'm starting to feel better about the little wedding day details.. the only thing I'm worried about is the stress of driving down to Florida, getting all of the wedding stuff to Franck's, and getting our dogs settled in at Best Friends (this will be their first time being boarded)
It's not an ideal situation, but we really didn't have anyone else to watch them at home, and I would rather board them in Florida where I can visit them multiple times each day than board them for their first time at home without visitors. I'm also starting to stress about switching hotels the day of the wedding.. mostly because I'm not sure how we are going to move our car from the GF to the YC without having to do it after the Dessert Party
I'm also trying to strategically pack things so we don't have to pack too much stuff back up in different luggages on the morning of the wedding. It's making things a little too complicated
All in all I'm getting pretty excited. I think I will feel better once both dresses fit perfectly and are in my possession. I also need to set up a call with Reverend Knox since we aren't having a rehearsal. The to-do list is slowly shrinking which is a good sign! I want to try to have everything ready to go the week before, so I can just sit back and wait with (hopefully) little stress!
