Nichole's Wishes PJ 10/24/2011 ~ WP/ADH/SCP ** OUR WEDDING DAY ~ The Reception

Nichole,

Just got all caught up.

Your swim with the manatees looks amazing! Talk about once in a lifetime experience. What a great time to share with your Mom.

Love the hen and stag parties. I think it would have been hysterical to take the Cruise Line bus to Universal and to a guys night. :lmao: Of course, Disney would never allow it, but they should send the right bus then! ;) Looks like it was a fun night.

Love the sneak peek from Randy! Wow! You both look wonderful.

Can't wait to read the rest. :surfweb:

Your group adventures keep getting funnier! I love it. Looks like you all had a blast. I can't wait to see the DATW pictures!!!

Thanks!! Swimming with the manatee was amazing and definitely a great experience to share with my mom!!

I have to admit, it really didn't dawn on my about the whole Disney bus at Universal right at first! We didn't decide to go there until right before the wedding. But, the plan was always for the guys to go somewhere a Disney bus shouldn't be seen so a plain bus was in our BEO. Definitely would have made for some great photos at Universal :lmao:

Somehow we woke up early on Saturday to DATW. The plan was to be in Epcot around 10 to walk around and go on some rides -- needless to say that did not happen. It took us about 2 hours to get everyone ready to go and on the bus (yet another lesson in how long it takes to get a group of people together and moving). Everyone had schedules, but they opted to rely on us to tell them where to be and when.

We finally got on the bus and headed to Epcot, minus a small group of people (i.e. my crazy family) that were going to join us in an "hour or so". It was the food and wine festival, so the line to get in was crazy! So everyone without bags went in and started drinking, while everyone with bags had to go through the separate line. By this time I have dealt with my family all morning and all of their drama, so I am just going with the flow of things. DH on the other hand doesn't let anything bother him and started having a good time right away.

I'll let the pics speak for themselves, but it didn't take long for me to forget everything and just start having a good time!

When DH starts drinking he likes to make everyone laugh ... even strangers. So he and his BM took the spare camera and started taking pics with anyone who looked interesting to them.

Later in the evening, I was surprised that we didn't get kicked out to be honest! Although they did ask us not to go on the ride in Mexico again.

A group of us did make it all the way around! This is the small group of us that finished.

Most stayed to watch the fireworks, but I headed back to pack up my stuff. I had my hair trial in the morning and then I was moving to the Boardwalk Inn before the rehearsal! All in all we had a great time and it was a highlight of our trip!!

Love the latest update! DATW is always a fun time and looks like you had a blast! I am fairly certain that our group will end up doing that at least once!

Looking forward to seeing the hair trial and getting closer to the big day! :cool1:

LOVE the DATW pictures! Our groups were very similar! Rowdy...and I thought we were going to get kicked out!
The picture with your group and Alice really makes me laugh out loud because when I had returned to my drinking groomsmen, they told me they all wanted to 'do her' and 'take her to Wonderland'.:lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl:

If I brought my groomsmen to Disney.. this is what would happen!! Hahaha.. oh boys! :P

I loved the shirts Nichole!! Definitely couldn't miss them! And your DH too cute hopping in people's groups!! I would love to Drink Around the World!! Maybe for our one year anniversary! :goodvibes

I know! I mean, it was really funny, but I told them not to defile Alice! Leave the poor innocent thing alone!:laughing:

Thanks! We were definitely a sea of green!! Our guests are already trying to get us to schedule an anniversary trip and Drink Around the World again!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!! I was finally able to get through some photos over the long weekend!!!! :thumbsup2 Getting closer to the end, but there are still so many more to go through! And I have been experimenting with Aperture 3 to make stylized edits to the photos, which slows things down a little, but it is so much fun!!

Sorry in advance for the huge photos, but Photobucket is not participating with me today!

Our fifth day started with my hair trial before the rehearsal. I was feeling pretty good that morning and really starting to get excited about the wedding! I had arranged to have my trial in the room a few of my BMs were sharing so DH didn't get to see -- and it was so much more private. Everyone was a little slow after the day before, so the girls were just getting out to breakfast when I came in (around 10:30 am). Beaute Speciale sent Laine to do my hair and make up and she was great!! Easy to talk to and great to work with. She had great ideas on how to improve my "vision" and she had no problem trying a couple different things. I am a visual person, so I have a hard time picturing conceptual ideas without seeing them on me. She was great about giving me an idea of what different things would look like.

We started with my hair.

Afterwards she changed my hair for the rehearsal. She had a great idea for a sweeping side bun. I had a clip that I found on etsy that we used -- I had originally gotten the clip for mom to use next day at the wedding, but it worked perfectly!

After the trial, I rushed back to our room to change into my rehearsal dress and go check into the Boardwalk Inn. Since we had so much stuff in our room still, one of DH's groomsmen moved into our room. DH was going to stay the night with him anyway -- and this saved so much stress of having to move all of the extra stuff the guys were going to need for the wedding day (not to mention all the alcohol!). It was so cute too ... when DH and the groomsman went to get new cards for the room, DH was issued one with my last name :lmao: (I guess because I had made the reservations originally?).

So I drove over to the Boardwalk Inn. I have to say, I just love everything about Disney!! As soon as they check your license at the gate, they radio ahead and there was a whole team of people waiting to help check me in!! After the room mix up at Coronado Springs, they had given us a Garden Suite at the Boardwalk, so we were treated extra special! They unloaded my car, took all of the luggage/boxes (and there were still a ton!) to the room and parked my car while they escorted me outside to our suite. No checking in, they did it all for us! A very nice gentleman briefly told me about all the special things were get, like free breakfast, wine and cheese hour, and chocolate hour during the fireworks. We ended up being so busy after the wedding, we really didn't take advantage of too much (except the breakfast part), but so cool!

Our room was amazing!! Two bathrooms (which was so helpful while we were all getting ready), a waiting area downstairs, a beautiful upstairs with a king bed, and a balcony -- I'll let the photos speak for themselves!!

I had to rush out pretty quickly to meet everyone else at the WP for the rehearsal at 4. So I hopped into a taxi and was off! Of course everyone else was running a little late, so I beat them all to the WP. I had told everyone they need to leave for the WP by 2:30 and be there by 3:30 so we could take photos, etc. As it turns out we were the last event in the WP that day, so we were able to stay as long as we wanted. I also had Randy come for the rehearsal and welcome party later that day -- another thing I am soooo glad I did! We got some great photos!!

That room looks AWESOME!!

If you don't mind me asking, where did you find the welcome boxes? I like how they are different than the usual bags I've seen. :)

Randy arrived on time and started taking some shots of everything before the group arrived. Then he got photos of everyone arriving and of everyone's reaction when they saw the WP!

Maxine finally got us all together and we started the rehearsal. Maxine and I had a mini conference to go over any last minute changes. Rev. Jack apparently double booked our rehearsal day, even though I confirmed and re-confirmed the dates with him - so Maxine acted in his place. I really had mixed feelings about this. Rev. Jack was perfect the next day, but I never felt like we developed much of a connection with him. We only briefly saw him on the wedding day and I was so emotional before the wedding, I don't really remember talking to him very much. We also did not get any photos with him, which I am a little disappointed about. He ended up charging us less, but I would have rather paid the extra $100 and felt more of a connection. In the end it all worked out and I am very pleased with the job he did ... and I would probably still opt for Rev. Jack if I had to do it all over again.

We ran through everything once and then decided if we needed to make any changes. We all had a lot of fun with it and everyone laughed a lot! Having Randy there to direct us was really helpful too! I tried to remember to walk slow and keep smiling, but I was so nervous on the wedding day, I completely forgot everything. I did good with smiling for all the posed photos, but whenever I was walking up or down the aisle, I look like I am concentrating too hard to keep from crying (or tripping!). At least DH and our wedding party remembered all the directions!

I made a couple of small changes and Maxine went over a few general things with everyone. Then we were all done.

It really went by so fast (but not as fast as the actual ceremony went!). My dad was super emotional all week and really difficult to deal with, so he ended up going back to the hotel. The rest of us continued on to dinner at 'Ohana.

That room looks AWESOME!!

If you don't mind me asking, where did you find the welcome boxes? I like how they are different than the usual bags I've seen. :)

Thanks!! I put together the welcome boxes with a few different pieces. I ordered the white gable boxes from papertreyink.com and I got the thick ribbon at Hobby Lobby. The label is something I made and printed out from my home computer. I think you can order something similar from a few sellers on Etsy -- I am pretty sure that is where I originally saw the idea.

HTH!

I love how you and the wedding party coordinated your outfits (black and white)...at least it looks coordinated.

I'm kinda wishing we booked Randy for our rehearsal as well - we're using him for wedding and reception. A family friend said if she's invited to the rehearsal then she'll take pictures...so we didn't book him.

Yay, I love Laine! She did a wonderful job on both hairstyles. The rehearsal looked like it was fun, sorry about the mix up with the Rev., though. Love all the pictures! Oh, and the garden suite at Boardwalk = DROOL. So beautiful, I can tell that definitely came in handy when you were getting ready.

Wow, Nichole! Two great updates!

Love the rehearsal dress and hair! Stunning! Your wedding party looks like they had a blast. Great idea getting Randy to come to the rehearsal too.

Thanks for sharing all this with us. popcorn::

Thanks! I tried to get everyone to coordinate so we could get some great group shots -- plus it is a lot easier than worrying about whether everyone will dress appropriately for the day's events!

Thanks so much!

After the rehearsal we walked over to the Polynesian for dinner at 'Ohana. Everything went pretty smoothly with dinner. Our reservations were at 5. DH led most of our party/family over right after the rehearsal and I followed up at the back with the stragglers. Plus that gave me a few minutes to go over a few last minute details with Maxine.

The boys had already started drinking by the time I got there (which really was only about 5 minutes or so after he did), but boys will be boys!

He also checked us in, so our tables were ready and we sat down right after I got there. They set us up in the small section right after you enter the restaurant in small round tables (each sat about 6 people). I had made the reservation for about 5 more people than ended up coming, but I didn't want to call and try to change things too close to the event (I had read some horror stories about lost reservations, etc., so I wanted to leave it all alone). At first I wasn't crazy about the idea, since I wanted to be in the middle of everything so our party could take part in the little games they play, but it ended up working out perfectly. It was much more private and intimate than in the big room.

We invited Randy to join us for dinner and are so happy that we did! He got to know our wedding party and get a good idea of how crazy they can be. At one point he even let the best man use his camera (not the tiny one he is holding, but you get the idea of how crazy he can be)! We gave the wedding party personalized flasks as part of their gifts and some of the guys carried those around everywhere. At one point the best man was drinking his through a straw. No one ever said anything about it -- thankfully!

4-EndofDinner-12.jpg

After dinner they brought us a cupcake, which we were too full to enjoy, and we headed over to the GF for our welcome party. We had plenty of time, so we took the monorail and were able to sit down for a few minutes before everyone else started to arrive.

Nicole your group really knows how to have a good time!!!!
Can't wait to see the big day!!! I hope you had a great Xmas and New Year!!!

I love the picture of the best man. I love that he drank out of the flask with a straw. :lmao: `Ohana looked delicious--glad everyone enjoyed themselves. Can't wait to read about wedding day!

Nichole: Your rehersal dress is adorable! Love that the bridal party all dressed in black for the rehersal as well. My wedding is Oct 25, 2012 at the WP and ADH so I have been lurking on your journal for a while now. I am jealous that you got to do your rehersal dinner at O'Hana. I had my eye on it but was A. Afraid I wouldn't fit in my dress the next day after all that fab food and B. Future FIL wants something in a private room.
