Hi y'all. Yesterday was a rough kind of day. I've decided I could not live in PacNW because I really can't do days of rainy, stormy weather; it really affects my moods. Today was mostly sunny, hot and humid, but my brain and emotions are working better today. I sat on the balcony and 'baked' for about 20 minutes today, and came in with a much better feeling!

Yes, I named a car, after my favorite character that I played in EQ and WoW. Won't post it here, because I still play WoW with that character name, on multiple realms, and I don't want that world to cross with this one, haha. It was the first new car...brand spanking new, with less than 50 miles on it...that I ever bought, and I loved it, until 2 years later, when all the problems with it started. :sad1:

Yesterday, DH decided he had a craving for pizza at dinnertime, so we ordered a ginormous (24") pepperoni NY style; and I made waffles for breakfast(Kodiak oat and honey for DH, chocolate chip regular for DS and myself). So, today I had to cook the pork I had planned for last night for lunch; I used Shake n Bake BBQ and we had broccoli and cauliflower with it. We had steaks thawed for dinner that had to be cooked (Ribeye for DH, NY strip for me, DS had leftover pizza), and roasted cauliflower with Penzey's Ozark seasoning.

I'm supposed to go to BJs and the post office tomorrow; and since I'm out, I will probably top off the car; we're at half a tank after a month. Tuesday we have to turn in DS's books and will probably go to Fresh Market to finish off some shopping. DH says he's feeling stir crazy, so he'll probably come with us on Tuesday, just to get out of the house.

I am thankful for the friends here. It helps that we can share and chat with each other as we go through this difficult time together.

Just for a change, we've been ordering and cooking some Hello Fresh meals. I cook, the hubs reads the directions to me. It's been nice working on dinner together.

QOTD-I've had a Honda Fit for awhile. Named her Daisy. Fun to drive, and the hatch is easy for a short person to reach. Big plus for me! :teeth:
I thought it was cool you all also have a Honda Fit @flyingdumbo127

We like the show, Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix. A new season just became available, so we watched an episode tonight. I enjoy learning about new foods, new places, new adventures.
We don't travel the way we used to, but these days I find armchair travel to be very enjoyable.

Can't say that I ever named a car. They were always just 'car'. lol.
It was another gorgeous weather day here yesterday. Sun, breeze, low 70's-calling for the same today. I puttered around outside, tied up tomato plants, gave them fertilizer, ran the tiller between the rows and then sprinkled some lime on them. Brother in law swears it makes the tomatoe's sweeter, but I don't know if that's true. I know it doesn't hurt them, so I always do it just to make him happy, lol! Have a lovely Monday everyone, we made it thru another week!

Question of the day May 31: Did you name your first or any subsequent cars?

Almost always!

My first car was Vicki, short for Victoria. - As Dad's was Elizabeth (Besty) and Mom's was Anne, we sort of had a Queens of England thing going.

The first one DH bought was Bitty, short for the Bitty Blue Bullet - because it was a tiny little thing in glaring blue.

We shared that one for a while when it was just us and we lived near a subway line, but after we moved out to the 'burbs, I got Emily, short for Miss Emily the War Wagon.

Then DH got a black sedan we called Jeeves.

I had a second wagon for a while whose name is escaping me, and DH had a green sedan I either can't remember or he didn't name. Now he has the Prius...occasionally known as the Clown Car when it holds 5 people and/or his really tall friend.

My current SUV is officially named Samantha, but is also commonly just known as the RAV.

I have only owned 2 cars in my entire 45 years. When I was a senior in high school, my mother bought a Ford Escort for me, which I had for 11 years. Everyone called it the Smoovemobile because I got vanity plates that said SMOOVE (don't ask me why...I was kind of ridiculous back then).

My next car was a Hyundai Sonata. I bought it just in time...the day I went to pick it up, I pulled the Escort half into a parking spot and it died right there. But the Sonata wasn't a great car. It did its own thing - radio stations would change on their own, the radio would randomly go off and on, the locks would lock and unlock, stuff like that. Thankfully nothing major, like it didn't drive itself or shut off completely, but just weird stuff that made it seem possessed. As a result, I named it Christine, of course.

We traded in the Sonata when my mom needed a new car and her own car wasn't enough to trade in. Since we were all living together at that point, we still had 2 cars available that I could use if needed or Mom or DH would drive. It also made sense to get rid of the excess car to save money on insurance and upkeep. Plus I hate driving anyway. So now, DH and I own a Jeep Patriot that we bought from my uncle 3 years ago. Our son calls it the "Patriot Car" because it's a Patriot, and also because DH loves the New England Patriots and has a couple of Super Bowl Champions stickers in the windows :)

When we were kids - well driving age teens, my folks had those huge station wagons with three seats - the "estate wagons". One we called The Station Weapon- then other we called The Oldsmobubble because it was a oldsmobile with a huge sky light type window in roof. Those were huge cars - wish they still made them.
I had a white Yukon XL for quite a while, we all called it Big Whitey. Note sure why...my brother had a smaller white SUV, we called that Little Whitey.

I didn’t name any of my cars, snd I drove them as long as they lasted. My current one is a Saturn SW, 1999, so I’ve had it for 21 years last October. 206,000+ miles...it’s taken me many places! Now only a few thousand miles a year.

I am grateful for this beautiful day in Cape May NJ. Today is DH’s and my 52th wedding anniversary! Our Houston based family was supposed to be here today, but that was cancelled. Still, great day to be alive!

Happy anniversary, Bobbi. 2 weeks to go until ours.
We were supposed to leave for a cruise this coming Friday with the family and it is DS's 15 anniversary. Instead they are staying home and having food delivered and we are taking the kids for the night.
So many changes in plans for everyone!!

5/31 Question -- yes, my first car was called The String Bean. A 97 Taurus in pacific green with a green cloth interior. Everyone in my friend group named their cars, but since I had the biggest one I was like the chauffeur/primary driver. Also I've never referred to any of my cars as "she", they're all "he"!

Bianca and Bernard, I went to university in the Pacific Northwest and while a beautiful place, the almost constant gloom could be way too much! Plus for me, being from a warmer climate, it was freezing. Yet when it got above 65 it was HOT (until I came home for vacation and was reminded of what heat really is lol). All relative to what you are used to lol.

Happy Anniversary, Bobbi! God Bless you and your husband :)

Gwynne, that is cool you also have a Fit. We really like ours a lot :) I hope you are also happy with yours.

Fireflyris that is so funny, I have always thought of my cars as "male" too. Lol!

Prayers all of you are having a good Monday! Curfew today is at 4pm due to a scheduled protest in Hollywood. Please pray this is peaceful!

Monday gratitudes:

A call from my 93 year old friend Shirley.
Being able to so easily order needed labels on staples.com (no minimum right now for free delivery on eligible items as an fyi)
A new month that will prayerfully bring joy and brighter days to all.

I never named any of my cars. However, my DH had a Gremlin when we started dating and we had it through out first year of marriage. My grandfather called it the toy car. That really said it all. DH didn't buy it. His father bought it for him. I still don't know what my FIL was thinking when he did that. My first car was an old 1965 turquoise Rambler, standard. I loved that car, but I guess not enough to name it!
