Even if your bg get called at the exact same time as your adr you have time to eat. How long has been the longest time you've spent eating at sci-fi?

Including the specialty shake ? Lol

as long as I see " the cat that hated people " at least once, we are good - thanks !!

145 might be it for the day! So excited that they got back on track today! New chart coming up at 8pm :D

While you wait for that, here's an interesting look at every 7 day period since 12/18 and BGs per hr for those days. This would be a way to take a little of the "feeling" out of how the ride is performing. What we can see here is that until yesterday's disaster, the ride had actually been trending in an upward direction. The next 5 days will certainly show lower since they include yesterday (hopefully as a bit of an outlier day). But at any rate, just thought this was a neat way to look at it.

For reference: the Avg BGs / hour across the last 32 days is 9.8!

Interesting that it has been fairly consistent ... Not like it opened at half capacity and they have steadily increased that or anything (well, assuming th number in each BG has not been fluctuating)

Yeah - the number per BG is certainly something that we don't have any knowledge on. I continue to operate on the assumption that it's constant. Others feel that it might change, and nobody truly knows which is correct :)

Thanks to all of the awesome advice in this thread, I was able to ride ROTR two times this past week! Here are the details…

On Monday, January 13, we left AoA at 6:11 am in an Uber and got to DHS at 6:25 AM. We were through security very quickly and tapped directly into the park.

For me, it was magical to arrive while it was still dark out and enter the park with all of the Christmas lights on and the decorations still up! I wasn’t expecting that! We were hoping to rope drop millennium falcon, but we had arrived at the park later than planned, and we were fairly far back in the pack. At 7 o’clock I clicked into the app and the join boarding group button turned red right away for me, but my DD had faster fingers and she was able to get us boarding group 22! We gave up on rope dropping MF after seeing how quickly the line grew, so we killed time until our BG was called. BG 22 was called at 7:30, and we were in line by 7:35. We moved quickly [edit] and got [edit] to [edit] when the ride went down. We were escorted out and given FPs for later. We eventually rode the full experience later, and it was amazing and worth all the effort!

On Thursday January 16th, we arrived about 6:15 via uber, and had to wait for the tapstiles to open. We got in the rope drop line for Toy Story land. WiFi was non existent in this area. At 7:00, join boarding group button quickly turned red, and either my DS or myself got BG 20. Happened so quickly that we both thought we got it. Either way, great result. On SDD by 7:16 and ride TSMM by 8:00. BG’s still not called, so took some time to really explore GE. They finally started calling BG’s while we were in line for our 9:25 Oga’s ADR. We went straight to RoTR after Oga’s, and had a successful ride! Loved it! Saw new things the second time that I had missed the first 1.5 times.

Thanks to all here for the excellent advice and the chart! It was invaluable!

Chiming in with my account of yesterday's issues. I have detailed notes b/c I was updating FB as I went as the day spiraled into more and more absurdity.

Jan 15th - In line at the "turnstyles" at 6am, pretty far back in line, but easily tapped in just after 6:30. BG 15, got called at 7:30, rode Rise with no problem, Star Tours, Single Rider MF:SR and Single Rider RnR all by 10:30am.

Jan 17th - Plan : HS in the AM w/ Star Tours and SDD FP+ (also VotLM, but not planning on actually going), hop to Epcot for Festival of the Arts, 11:45 ADR for guaranteed seating at the first Disney on Broadway show.
In line a little later b/c it's my last day and I had to pack the car and empty the room before catching the bus, still tapped in before 6:45am.
BG 38

7am - single rider RnR, standby Star Tours, up to BG 20 - leisurely Breakfast at Docking Bay 7

10am - somewhere around BG 30, meander over to Rise entrance to be ready to board, BGs stall out at 36.
10:45 - murmurings in the crowd around me about the ride being down. I'm so close to the next BG that I figure I should stay around. Plus I'm worried if I head to Epcot, I won't have much notice when it does start to board again, so I might not make it back in 2 hours, especially if I've just been seated at my ADR. I've waited this long, might as well stick it out - call and cancel my 11:45 Coral Reef Disney on Broadway ADR. Pretty sad, but I'll just have to give up some walking around WS time to stand in the standby line for the Disney on Broadway show.

11am - leave my spot by the ride entrance to use SDD FP+, ROTR still down.
Noon - finally get a notification that ROTR is down and my BG will be delayed. Eat lunch at Woody's lunch box, ROTR still down. Eat ice cream, ROTR still down.

1pm - I give up. I'm going to FotA in Epcot. Walk to HS entrance from Toy Story land, ROTR still down. About to board Skyliner, still down.
About to transfer to Epcot Skyliner, still down. Bag check, tap in to Epcot.

1:30 - 10 steps into Epcot, just out of morbid curiosity, check the app again - BG 37! A moment later I get my notification for BG 38. I waited this long, might as well go ride the thing. Turn around, back on the Skyliner, back through bag check, tap in to HS, walk to GE.
2pm - Approach GE. It's down again. It was only running for about 20 minutes. CM says it's usually only down about 45 minutes and it's already been down about 20 at this point. Sat down in Batuu feeling silly and sorry for myself for a while, and typed a fb post about all my first world HS problems.

3pm - boarding again! Hustle over and FINALLY get through the entrance.
3:30 - waited in the regular line [edited]
3:50 - got all the way up [edited]. CMs on the phone. It's down again. We staged a short sit in while they waited to see if it would come back up quickly, but after a bit we were led out the exit and given a FP.

4:30 - GR wants to give me a HS FP+, but I'm sick of HS and I just want to go to FotA and see the Broadway show. Of course it's my last day, but I can't get a one day ticket b/c technically my BG was called. And they can't get me a guaranteed seat at the show b/c I canceled my ADR. They'll book me another ADR (for $67), but it's 4:30, the show is at 5:30 and I've saved 9 snack credits to use at FotA. A dinner ADR is useless, so I declined. GR can't do anything else for me.

5pm - sad and fed up and on my way to exit HS. ROTR is boarding again. I'm a stubborn capricorn, so I head back over.
5:15 - sent through the recovery FP line. There's a line in [one of the rooms]. We're all laying bets on if we actually get to ride this time and comparing how many times we've each been through the queue today and asking each other how far we got before we were kicked out.

5:40 - down again, only made it to the hallway [edited]. Stand in long line for GR again to see what they're offering this time.

6:20 - GR was a bit more helpful at this point, got a FP, giftcard, and single day ticket so I could attend FotA later (it's my last Disney day, but I'll still be in Orlando for several days for a conference. I can go to FotA in the evening after the conference, but I can't be at HS at 7am and wait for a BG again).

6:20 - 6:40 - clearly don't have time to really see FotA at this point as it would be nearly 7pm by the time I get back to Epcot, so I wait by ROTR entrance, just in case

6:40 - it's up again. A mad, crushing rush of people to get in. We all know it could be mere minutes before it breaks down again.

7:14 - exited ROTR FINALLY having ridden it all the way through (BG 38). Thunderous applause from the ride vehicle. I did see 2 empty vehicles being sent through the ride while we were going through.

7:30 - ice cream, 8pm - fireworks.

Wow, sounds like your experience on the 17th was vastly different than your experience on the 15th, and I am sorry that you had to go through it. BUT, as someone who is looking forward to experience ROTR, as I read your post all I could think of was this must be one amazing attraction/experience/ride for you to go through all of that to ride it a second time. :) Really hoping to experience it in February!!!

They got all the way to 123 before the ride went down a third time so yes it was called. But at the time I left for AK the ride had just gone down for the second time I had no way of knowing when it would be called and I appreciate the way they handled it on Thursday. The main problem was the demeanor of what happened on Friday. Oh and the conflicting info. If I had known that Friday would bring as much problems as it did I would have changed my plans. I would have gone straight to DHS, left my walker at the hotel to begin with, rather then go back to my hotel to shower and nap. But I left ROTR entrance Thursday evening having been assured by two different CMs neither of whom talked to each other, one who checked the FP with their tablet, that I was going to be good for tomorrow.

The whole fiasco nearly took my one chance of riding away. I was in town for the Marathon weekend. I’m an adaptive athlete there was no way I was going to make it to DHS on Saturday and Sunday in time to snag a BG. I am not fast normally on a good day and in the heat of last weekend I was especially not fast. I would rather have been given the correct info so I could correct my plan of action during or after the 10k or come to terms with not riding on my own. But due to the conversations prior I didn’t even know I had to correct the course of action.
I'm not a Disney regular but I do have many years of experience working in hospitality and tourism. I definitely think you should reach back out to customer service and review the situation with them. The logistics of the BGs and FPs are one thing, but the fact that a CM made you feel bad is a whole other. Management would 100% want to know if they need to address interpersonal skills with their team. You're not a Karen by providing a kind and understanding critique when the situation warrants it. Think about it this way- you could be saving someone from losing their job in the future by being a compassionate source for an honest review that may provide them with the training or support they need to avoid a hurtful situation with another customer in the future.
Given that you have an AP, personally I'd avoid mentioning any specific compensation and just say you wanted to share your experience and what it meant to you. Maybe just see what they come out of the gate with.

Our collective surprise when we see how many BGs we got through today:

Perhaps some thought that the chart would die out...but you all keep providing data!

Well, After all the information I’ve been pouring over, tomorrow is it. I’m so nervous! I am praying for a decent BG, but more so, the ride is fully operational. Would love to see it from A to Z. I feel like Rey in episode 7, fumbling and saying “I can do this... I can do this...” good luck everyone and hope to send some stats tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞

May the force be with you. It will be my turn a bit later this week.

Wow, yesterday looks like it was just horrible :(. Also, does anyone foresee the park eventually opening at a later time? I know come March HS typically opens around 9 a.m., I'm just wondering if they'll be changing times again like after holidays or if they'll keep extending it to be 7 a.m. opening. (I know when I was going on 1/6 it was originally 8 a.m. open then they changed it to 7 a.m. just three days prior before I went).

Even though we were called to ride at 11:30, we were not able to ride until around 4:45 due to another ride problem. The CMs were great to us while we were waiting in line inside the ride. The ride was fabulous!

Was this today (Saturday) or yesterday?

Totally unknown - anybody answering this would be speculating wildly unless they can provide a source (which is probably unlikely).

To avoid any confusion, based on the current park calendar, DHS will move to an 8am opening starting 1/27 and then a 9am opening starting 2/2. Whether this will ultimately change is a closely watched detail.

I’ll be there tomorrow too! Here’s hoping!

Over the past few weeks, how many of you have entered the park prior to opening and were NOT able to secure a regular (non-backup) boarding group?

From reading the 260 pages of posts here, it seems like (with the notable exception of the first week in January), almost everyone who's been in the park at opening has been able to obtain SOME boarding group, even if it wasn't an ideal number. Is that fair to say?

For those of you who were not able to get a BG despite being logged in at opening, any idea what went wrong? Phone/wifi problems (I'm not talking a 30-second refresh freeze, but an extended problem)? Just simple demand exceeded supply that day?

Just trying to set my expectations for a trip in a few weeks (when the rules/outcomes may be completely different).

We left the dolphin at 6:15 today and boarded the boat for Hollywood studios. We were in the park by 6:38 and had five phones ready and waiting to grab a BG. I was able to be the one to book it and grabbed boarding group 28 right at 7. I felt so prepared from reading this thread, and it was not a stressful experience like I was expecting. Obviously would have been if all of our phones hadn’t cooperated though. We went to AK for morning EMH and rode FOP, safari, Dinosaur, and EE before coming back and riding ROTR. Thank you for all that have given tips and help along the way!
